"Hey Wills, hey Spike." Buffy briefly looked up at them and then looked back at her book to turn the page. Halfway through the motion Buffy froze. "What is it, Buff?" Willow asked. "Am I nuts or is it daytime and Spike walked through a hallway full of little deadly light particles?" "You have it right," Spike smirked, "but you're still a crazy b--" "Spike!" Willow gasped. Buffy stuck out her tongue at Spike. Giles saw this and sighed. *Children.* "It must be the prophecy." Cordelia didn't even look up from filing ner nails. "So we had already figured," Willow rolled her eyes, "but it gave me the shock of my life when Spike walked out into the daylight after me as I was coming to school." "I don't even know how I knew but I somehow knew the sun wouldn't make me spontaneously combust," Spike found himself explaining. *Since when do I care if they know about this? Dammit, I'm becoming a softie.* "Giles, I still need to go to school, right?" When Giles nodded his head Wilow went on, "So I was thinking we get Spike enrolled in all my classes." Xander had been taking a rather large drink of his soda when Willow said this and promptly sprayed it out all over Cordelia's legs. "Ew, gross! You pig! This'll never come out of my skirt! You are so disgusting." Cordelia glared at Xander before getting up gingerly and stalking out of the room. Everyone was looking at Xander. "What? Like I'm the only person who's ever done that." "Good idea, Willow, you can do that tonight." Giles smiled. Spike leaned down and whispered something in Willow's ear, then gave her a lingering kiss and left. "What was that for?" Buffy smiled. "Spike has to go get something to eat." "Don't you mean someone?" Xander remarked snidely. "No," Willow glared at Xander, "I mean food. For some weird reason he doesn't need blood, but he needs actual food and water." Willow shrugged. "This is getting weirder by the minute." Buffy muttered. ****************************** It was Giles who first noticed the time. "Oh no!" "What?" Willow was alarmed. "It's 5," Giles rushed, "you two have to get home now, sunset is in about 15 minutes." Willow paled, Spike swore, and Buffy got up and started to pack up her stuff. "Willow, Spike, I'm taking you home now." "I don't need your bloody help, Slayer. I can take care of my woman alone." Spike spat out, angry. "No you can't. Angelus is out there and every day he gets a little stronger, if you met up with him you'd lose. Either you or Willow or maybe even both of you would die. I'm not letting that happen, no matter how stubborn you are, Willow's too important to us for her to die because of your stupidity. Now let's go." Buffy grabbed Willow's hand and started out the door. Spike gritted his teeth and followed. ************************** It was completely dark by the time they turned down Willow's street. Buffy was just beginning to relax when they heard a voice from the shadows. "Isn't that sweet." Buffy froze. Turning slowly she met the eyes of her former love. "What is?" "Spike and Willow, holding hands. Now I feel all warm and fuzzy." Spike unconciously tightened his hold on Willow's hand and stepped in front of her. "Still at this are you? Remember what I said the other night? I would have thought you would have listened at least a little bit. Too bad." Buffy smirked. Angelus' face darkened. "Why the hell would I listen to you? You're the Slayer. My enemy. Remember?" "Exactly. The Slayer. Nice to know you'll know who kicks the shit out of you." Buffy landed a high kick on Angelus' unsuspecting face. He flew backwards into high bushes on the other side of the street. "Go now!" Buffy yelled at Spike. Spike heistated. "Do you want Willow killed?" Spike dragged Willow down the street, making sure to keep her in front of him at all times. "Be careful, Buffy!" Willow cried as Angelus received another blow to the face as he tried to go after Willow and Spike's retreating figures. "It's not you I want Slayer, it's them," Angelus spat, blood from the gash on his lip dripping on his clothes, "so let's be friends shall we?" He grinned. But it wasn't a nice grin. "Dream on." "Well okay then." Buffy was carried backwards and hit her head on the street a few feet away as Angelus' foot collided with her midsection. "I'm not going to kill you because there's no point. You're not a threat to me anymore." After saying that he disappeared into the shadows cast by a streetlight. "Bastard." Buffy grimaced as she rolled up from the pavement. She didn't want to admit it but Angelus was considerably stronger than he used to be and soon she wouldn't be able to protect Willow or Spike from him. END 7/? Remember, feedback=more stories!
