Dedication: To anyone who reads my insane ramblings :) *************** The dawn rose silently over the horizon. Buffy, Xander, Cordelia and Giles watched it rise and spread light over the fresh graves. "Who'd have thought? Angelus won." Buffy clenched her hands tightly in front of her to keep from giving in to the violent emotions that rolled around inside her. "Poor Willow, I mean, she had no taste in clothes and all, but she was always there. Always cheerful and happy." Cordelia sniffed. "I'll miss her." Xander looked up at the sky and smiled sadly. Giles said nothing, but was afraid that if he did, he'd start shouting and throwing things. He still couldn't really believe that the heart and soul of the whole gang was gone. Forever. Tears escaped Buffy's tightly closed eyelids and a sob rose in her throat. "I don't blame Angel, how can I? Once they were gone, his soul returned and he killed himself. We'll most likely never understand how he felt when all the memories returned." Xander nodded silently because, no matter what, he couldn't blame someone who had no control over their actions whatsoever. Even if it was Angel. "Let's go home. There's nothing we can do here." Giles spoke softly into the silence that had fallen. The gang got up off the grass in front of the three graves and started walking back towards Giles' car, holding onto each other for comfort. Once they had gone, silence stretched again. The soft breeze whistled through the willow trees surrounding the graves. Three headstones stood side by side in the sunlight, Angel, Willow and Spike. A different caption was written for each, but they carried the same meaning. 'We'll miss you always.' ************* As the sun set, and shadows lengthened, the silence was broken by sounds of earth being pushed aside. Who really won? ************** End of Series!
