Who Is Scott Sherwood?
Exactly who is this gentleman for whom this newsletter was created?
When we were first introduced to Scott Sherwood we met a brazen, forward man
who used a letter from the "Patron Saint of Pittsburgh Radio" as his ticket to
take over as Station Manager.
From his entrance in Season One to the end of Season Two, fellow WENNers saw
many a scam come from the creative mind of Mr. Sherwood including "All News
Wednesdays" and "The Great Radio Debate"; harebrained schemes with hilarious
outcomes, yet all created for the ultimate good of WENN.
The Letter of Recommendation as well as the famed "Memorial Fund" were not
only the keys to Scotty's demise as WENN's manager in Season Three, but to his
mysterious past as well. What did we know about Scott before his excursion in
a London Pub? Well, Scotty was certainly a traveler of the world during a
time when most people could barely afford to travel down the street. The
Merchant Marine most likely aided him in his ventures as well as his positions
with the Trans-Siberian Mail Service, Nonflammable Blimps of Texas, and the
World League of Bullfighting.
While voyaging the seven seas on his schooner through Singapore, Peking,
Cairo, and possibly even Rabat, he found time to be an American Ambassador in
London, a member of the Nobel Prize Committee, and a Promoter throughout
Europe, or so he says.
In actuality, the only facts we know about the famed Mr. Sherwood are that he;
a) was a Boy Scout; b) was accepted into an Ivy League University; c) fought
for the Popular Front in the Spanish Civil War.
Scott Sherwood. Man of mystery and intrigue; a gentlemanly con-man if you
will. A rogue who can slip out of any situation with a few sharp words in the
right direction. That is who Mr. Sherwood is, or is he?
Be assured, that is definitely a side of Scott (a fantastic side, by the way).
The other side is as, if not more interesting. After making one of he most
dramatic and romantic exits seen in the corridors of WENN, he braved a return
and a large decrease in pay~ two things no con-artist would ever do.
After his return, Scott threw himself into WENN, combating the combined forces
of Rollie Pruitt and Miss Cosgrave, as well as the networks, with WENN in mind
every time, along with Betty Roberts. The admitted love of his life, Scotty
proved himself an honest Joe sweet by name and sweet by nature. Scotty might
not be a total huckster after all.
A two sided coin with a great personality. Intriguing and intelligent, loving
and loquacious. One thing is for sure, for Mr. Scott Sherwood everything is a
real piece of cake.
