This last spring break a couple of friends and I took a trip to Tokyo! It was by far the best vacation I ever had. Thanks to some other online shopping guides my roommate looked up we were able to find lots of anime stores (anime *is* a subculture in Japan, so it really isn't easy to just go and find some stores; if we hadn't had the guides we probably wouldn't have found anything.) To see some of the things I found there, as well as the anime stuff that I had before, go to my
Stuffs page. I scanned in all my cels and if should scan in my doujinshi (If I haven't already.)
We booked with a tour group online,
JNA Travel, and got a really good price for a 5 day stay including airfare and 5 nights in the Tokyo Hilton in the Shinjuku district (a Niiiice hotel.) We took a half day tour of some of the landmarks of note the morning after we got there including places like Tokyo Tower, The Meiji Shrine, and the Imperial Palace (okay, more like the front gate of the imperial palace.) Then we had the rest of the day off to do as we wanted (*coughshopcough*) Then we had 3 more days free and left the 4th. It was a nice tour pacage because we had so much free time that we were able to go to a lot of the districts that had anime stores and we weren't limited by structured tours. Admittedly, It would have been nice to visit some of the other landmarks of the city like the Japanese Sword Museum, but we kind of ran out of time. Man, I'm already hoping to go back sometime soon. Check out the shopping guide to see some of the places we went to shop (if you're planning on going to Tokyo then you might need the info!) and the Tokyo Pics for pictures of some of the landmarks we visited.
