Normal Doujinshi Page 1
This catagory is for doujinshi that don't really fit into one of the others, or may seem to fit into too many of them at once to qualify as just one. These vary in quality and genre a lot.
This artist was my favorite of the Kensin doujinshi artists; I had been wondering for quite a while who she was and finally Anne, the owner of the Meiji Kenkaku Romantan doujinshi page told me that she thinks the artist's name is Hayakawa Tsubasa, and Yap Lian Jie has just recently told me that the circle is Hayakawa Bokujyo. Thanks so much to you both!!! The style is really close to the manga style. If you know who did them or know where to find more, PLEASE tell me! I really like these. Also, all of her doujinshi are completely clean. Some are drama, some are comedy but all are beautiful. She also seems to like the Kenshin and Megumi relationship, though personally I think that Sano and Megumi are cut out for eachother ;).
Cherry Blossoms: RK Volume 1, Megumi and Kenshin. This one has a couple shorts in it- one dealing with Kaoru's overactive imagination, one where Kenshin is talking to Megumi about his past (?) and then Kenshin comforts (?) Megumi with a kiss and a hug (with a distraught Kaoru watching.) It's kind of difficut to tell where one story stops and the next on starts in this one. It has 42 pages.
Usotsuki Nikishi-e: RK Volume 2. This doujinshi has several gags in it. Once again, Kaoru's overactive imagination is the first story where the author parodies yaoi (Kaoru hears suspicious noises coming from Kenshin and Sano in another room, but Sano is just giving Kenshin a backrub.) It has an amusing parody of the Saitou fight (which I've scanned,) and a couple others that I can't quite make out. It has 24 pages.
Wanderer Special Edition: RK volume 3, (something)*Megumi and Kenshin. This one focuses a lot on Megumi and (I think) her unrequeted love for Kenshin.
Bakamatsu Battousai Tales: RK volume 4, Hitokiri*Himura Battousai. This one has several shorter stories, including a piece on the battousai, a 2-page story where Kenshin meets a female look-a-like, one with Hiko and Shinta, and one where a younger Kenshin meets a younger Megumi and she dresses his wound. It has 34 pages.
Kenshin Romance: Rurouni Kenshin volume 5, Bakamatsu Swordsman Tales. This one is my favorite! The first story takes place during the war. Kenshin has been fighting and finally blacks out due to blood loss (?) right as Saitou walks up. He wakes up in Shinsengumi HQ, his wounds dressed, but dressed like a woman (I guess to disguise him) and he has to figure out how to get out. There are then 2 one-page stories that look really cute but I can't really tell what's going on. The last is an introspective piece right after Kenshin stops killing. The doujinshi has 46 pages.
Suspended Thoughts, Rurouni Kenshin Volume 6. The last one that I have deals with Kenshin returning the medicine case to Megumi after the Kyoto Arc. It looks to be mostly an introspective piece; Megumi is very sad but tries to cover it up while around Kenshin. It has 43 pages.
In the Midst of Travel: RK volume 7, True Heart's Direction. This is the first part of a three part story where Megumi is kidnapped. This part and the third part have a really pretty onion paper leaflet right inside with a really nice color Megumi on it. It has 46 pages.
Desire: Rurouni Kenshin Volume 8. This one takes place when Kenshin and Tomoe were together and, like all by this author, has really pretty artwork. It has 34 pages.
In the Midst of Travel : RK volume 9, True Heart's Direction (Tabi no tochuu)(middle chapter.) This is the second part of the three part series in which Kenshin is fighting for a kidnapped Megumi. I FIANLLY GOT IT!!! YAY! Now I have the full run of this artist's Kenshin doujinshi 1-10 ^_^ This one has a gorgeous picture of Kenshin on the onion paper on the first page ^__^ (Scanned.) It has 66 pages!
In the Midst of Travel: RK volume 10, True Heart's Direction (Latter chapter) This is the third part of the above stroy. Kenshin ends up saving Megumi, but gets shot in the process. Megumi bandages him up, saving his life. Later, they meet on a bridge and have a long conversation where Megumi ends up kissing Kenshin, much to his surprise. It has 60 pages.
Master's Panic, Rin Tsukamachi Circle, by Il Pazzo
This doujinshi series (though I only have the first chapter- grrr... I want more!) is great! It's about a twisted fox spirit (who I THINK is Hiko's old master come back as a fox spirit to bother him) who reverts Hiko to a child. The art is different from the manga, but still really neat and works well with the feel of the doujinshi (even though I can't read it.) It has 58 pages.
Hitokiri, by Unknown circle. It took me a little bit to place the artstyle that this was drawn in- I knew it looked familiar and I knew that I didn't like it that much- finally I realized when I saw an add in the back for doujinshi for other series by the same circle that it was a Dragonball artstyle. Again, the style isn't particularly a favorite of mine, but I do find it interesting to see what one anime looks like drawn in another's style. The story flashes between the "present" (with Kenshin at the Kamiya dojo with the Kenshingumi) to the past when he was the battousai. Apparently he runs into someone he knew from his past and they remember the times during the Bakumatsu. It has 26 pages.
Innocent Generation, an anthology of many circles presented by Evolution. This is a small, really thick anthology with all sorts of artstyles and stories. This one was the only anthology that I was able to find that didn't have really obvious yaoi somewhere in it while I was flipping through them. It is divided into sections by the different circles, each with a one-page illustration gallery showing off a particualrly nice drawing. A small percentage of them do appear to have some yaoi implications, but not that bad. Most of the artwork is nice or alright, though I dislike the last one. There are far too many stories in here to give descriptions of though. I scanned in a random nice page. It has 206 pages.
Happy Man is a bit more serious than the previous two. There is a lot of intro panels and short strips (some with some really cute pictures.) In the story, Soujiro is talking to Saitou after his fight with Usui. Soujiro is being his "happy" (yet there are some pics where Soujiro looks really evil behind Saitou's back) and Saitou gets rather upset and grabs him by the chin. I *think* Soujiro bites him and they square off for a moment before Soujiro walks off. It has 42 pages.
Kenshin's Reverse Attack, unknown circle has an (I don't know how to say it) darker? artstyle than some of the others. The first 2-page story is really amusing- Yahiko is annoyed at something and runs into Kenshin doing the laundry and glares at him. Kenshin then decides to glare back- a little better than Yahiko's attempt. Then is a short 1 pager about Yumi. Then is an... odd story that looks like it's about Yahiko and Sano becoming slobbery zombies and then Aoshi in a tuxedo-maskish mask comes and for some reason pulls out a fake mustashe. *shrugs* Don't ask me! Then is one about young Sano and Sagara. I'm not sure about the last one, but I think it is a mild shounen-ai between young Aoshi and Sagara. It has 26 pages.
Garret Upon the Sand; Silver Stone Circle by Asako Takaboshi. This doujinshi alternates between an Aoshi story (which is pretty odd) and a couple Kenshingumi stories. Some of the Kenshin stories include one about Yahiko finding a kitten and generally getting picked on, one has Yutaro and Yahiko. The last one has Megumi and Kenshin having tea and then the rest of the Kenshingumi come in, get upset at Kenshin and then Sano goes out and talks with Megumi. The Aoshi story is, again, pretty odd and I really might be overlooking blatant connotations. It has young Aoshi getting proferred different types of food by the 4 Oniwabanshi members- all of which the members demonstrate how he should eat it in an... interesting fashion. Aoshi dosn't seem to get it. Anyway, it has 40 pages.
Natural Thoughts, circle unknown- I think Tomoka is one of the artists. This doujinshi has 2 distinct artstyles- one that I like decently(and looks like the cover) and one that I really don't (ie Kenshin really dosn't look right.) The first story, with the better artstyle is very short and a Kenshin and Kaoru story. The second is a little longer (6 pages) with the other artstyle and seems to be about Kenshin wandering. The last two stories go back to the first artstyle. One has Kaoru and Kenshin- think that she brings him a fish to make for dinner, but she stops him before he can use his sakaba to clean it. The last one is about Kaoru and Yahiko. There are also a couple random drawings in the back. I've scanned an example of each artstyle. It has 28 pages.
