Rebel Without A Comb

Headstones in Edmonton April 20-21st, 2000
Hard Core Rock Show: A Fan Is Born

Hey there,

The Headstones played a concert in Edmonton at the Shaw Conference Centre, April 20th, which I happened to go to. The next day on the 21st, they held a free concert at West Edmonton Mall in front of the HMV where they played five live songs, and then did an in store autograph session inside the HMV. I just happened to take my digital camera a long that day, so I snapped some pictures of the concert and when I got to meet them.
    Hope you like them.

Okay, this is for those of you that may have no clue as to what I'm talking about. You must be scratching your head and asking yourself, what do the Headstones have to do with Callum Keith Rennie anyways? My answer simply is, A LOT.
First, the Headstones are a Canadian rock band. They are composed of Hugh Dillon on lead vocals, Trent Carr on vocals and guitar, Tim White on vocals and bass, and Dale Harrison on drums.
Second, the lead singer of the Headstones, Hugh Dillon also happens to be an actor, who starred in the film Hard Core Logo and made appearances in the film Curtis Charm and the television show Twitch City with Callum as well.
Third, Callum and Hugh also happen to be extremely good friends. They became friends during the making of HCL, and Callum even went on the road with the Headstones to get the feel of what being in an actual rock band was like for the film.
In the Headstones CD's you'll even notice that Callum is thanked and has a picture in 'Smile And Wave,' and is thanked once again in their latest CD 'Nickels For Your Nightmares.'

I never knew how good the HS were until I heard them play live for the first time the night before. If you ever get a chance to, go see them play man!! They rock!! But watch out for Hugh's famous high arching loogies... It was probably the only time in my entire life that I didn't mind that much getting spit on! And boy, that mosh pit...wwhhoohoo!
Okay, don't laugh at me when I tell ya this. Okay, yeah you can.;) Ya see the first picture when they are coming out on stage, well Hugh announces to the crowd then that the band will not be allowed to cuss, swear, spit, and can only sing their clean songs because it's an open concert. Me, the idiot hyper person I was at that moment, yelled out loud "F--- that!" I guess Hugh heard cause he then grinned down at me, and all I could do was give him a sly/sheepish smile back!! Oh, that was too cool man.;)

HMV Autograph Session:

In the last picture they were from left to right: Dale, Tim, Trent and Hugh. The guys were really great! Especially Dale the drummer who was a real sweetie!
And once again, the idiot hyper person I was; when I got up to Hugh so he could sign my Smile and Wave CD, all I could figure to blurt out was "Hey Hugh, you guy's are great! Can you the next time you see Callum Keith Rennie, tell him a fan from Edmonton say's that he rocks! Thanks man." And Hugh was like, "Thanks. Yeah, no problem."
I feel like a dork now.;P The band *is* really great!  I even ended up buying the rest of their CD's while the band was still in the store! Must absorb all Headstones music now....
