Misao Fanmail: How much do I love thee?

This space is reserved for letters from all those Misao fans out there! What you have to do is quite simple. Email me (ryucheese@hotmail.com) and tell me how much you love Misao! It can be as crazy, sick or twisted as you want (I prefer this), but please try to keep it PG-13 rated, because I WILL cencor any overly foul language... and that means YOU, @#$%&@head!! I encourage creativity so try to tell me how much you love her in your own way. I'll post all your emails here, but you all have to let me know whether or not you want me to also post your email ADDRESS. Write away!

The Shrine Keeper writes,

Misao is my goddess. She brought about my existence. She fulfulls my hunger for more karate-chop-action..... Who am I? I am the lowly shrine keeper whom all neglect.... I am the one whom all mistake as a lowly, fat, penniless, internet pervert..... I am the one you see running back and forth from hotels, kidnapping tourist children and sacrificing them in a blazing fire dedicated to Misao...... I am above all of you for I live for the great Misao... and soon, with this, **holds up a ninja-dart sparkling dramatically in all its glory** we will be one. Together............................. forever. Mu hahahahah!! **gets hit my various fruits, veggies, Aoshis, sakabas, and rabid ninja-rabbits with long sharp fangs thrown by administator and Misao**

Well, all I have to say about the Shrine Keeper is a little off the deep end. Although his email did give me a few chuckles. Isn't it great that we have such insane people out in the world today? It's what makes this planet so exciting!

Iria writes,

Let see, Misao is my all time favorite character. She has her own unique style. A loveable character in all the ways. Even though she's only 16 and acts all goofy most of the time, she does have a serious and mature side (ie, like when she went and proclaimed herself leader, yet that part was made funny. and also, when she met Kaoru-san and was questioning her 'bout Himura). And when we first see her in the series/manga, it was hilarious! I almost fell off my chair laughing at that part. Such a lively character and also cheerful...even when Aoshi left her...she unlike Kaoru (no offense! >.<), did not stay in bed forever, half dead...Misao went ALL over just to find her beloved. This girl got guts and can beat up anyone she wants(like the mugger part?)...even though there's lots of characters stronger then her, to me, she's the strongest of all female characters in RK. I love Misao! =D

HunterIria@aol.com

Well, this email is a little more "back to the norm". Yeah, Misao's personality is the greatest thing about her, she makes me laugh too! You go Iria!

Cain C. Hargrieves writes,

Misao: How Much Do I Love Thee?

I've never been very good at voicing my feelings... But I will now try to pin down why it is that I like Misao, even when so many of my friends call her annoying...

For starters, she has beautiful, long -black- hair. In a braid. The black hair is very important. As Pharangese from "The Heroic Legend of Arslan" tells the minstrel Guive, beautiful women are usually depicted as either blonds or red-heads. I don't hate either blonds or red-heads, but it's refreshing to see dark haired beauties.

Secondly, Misao can fight, and leads the Oniwabanshu. Although she's not as powerful as characters like Kenshin and Sano, she still holds her own and commands the respect of the people who follow her.

Thirdly, she's hillarious. I love a good laugh, and Misao--like Kaoru and Sano--provides for great comedy. Very, very important thing to have in a series like "Rorouni Kenshin," least Himura get too serious and gloomy and, as Sano would most likely say, "over dramatic."

Fourthly, she dresses in purple. Not pink. Not white. And she wears shorts. Not a long, impractical skirt. Not that I hate skirts or anything of the sort... But Misao's clothes are some of the coolest in the series, right down to those cool stitches running down the sides and the fighting "gloves."

Fifthly, I have no idea what it means to be The Weasel Girl, but it's a damn cool nickname. :)

Sixthly, she's a tomboy. Fellow tomboys call to each other. :D Being a tomboy means she'll crawl, run, squeeze, and generally get in to places others may not venture into.

Seventhly, the name Misao sounds cool when spoken out loud, even when I get into the habbit of saying "Ciao, Misao" one too many times for no apparent reason...

>For these, and for many more inumerable reasons, I love Misao. I loved her since I first saw her picture and printed out that very picture--which still hangs in the walls of my room. She deserves this shrine, and it is -not- a waste of time to visit it. Domo!

HJekyll@aol.com

Wow, what a long email! Sounds like Cain is really a big fan of Misao! Almost as much as me, with a BIG emphasis on "ALMOST". At any rate, in answer to Cain's letter...

(1)I love her hair too. That black braid wildly whipping around as she fights! It's just totally cool!

(2)Misao may not be as powerful as some of the Ju Pon Gatana or Kenshin and a lot of the other characters, but remember, Misao is only 16! And I think she's better than Kaoru who's a whole year older than her!

(3)I think we all know that Misao's funny personality is what we love most about her.

(4)Well, Misao's uniform is the "official" Oniwabanshu uniform, and yeah, it looks really cute on her!

(5)She was first called the "weasel girl" by Saitoh. Kaoru is like Kenshin's raccoon, Megumi is his fox, and Misao is his weasel. The name kinda just stuck.

(6)Well, we all love tomboys. Ever see the movie, "My Girl"? I hear they're actually making a part III...*sighs*...

(7)I personally chant out Misao's name in my sleep... (just kidding...maybe)

A girl who calls herself Misao writes,

IT IS I: THE GREAT MISAO HERE TO SEE THE MANY FOLLOWERS WHO ADORE AND WORSHIP HER. MU HAHAHAHAH!! **kicks bloody shrine keeper aside along with drooling administrator** I am the wonderfully-skilled-rightfully-placed, OKASHIRA OF THE ONIWABANSHU! **kicks shrine keeper again after a futile attempt to get up** You can learn a lot from ugly fellows like him. **holds up his ugly mug by his hair and tosses it into a pit of starving, rabid, ninja-rabbits** DO NOT take after this excuse-for-a-human-being who DARES TO CALL THIS SHRINE THE WEASEL GIRL SHRINE!! **flies into the darkness, throwing darts at the administrator's body. Administrator screams like a wet chicken as darts stick out of him like needles. He runs off the cliff and falls into the same pit as the shrine keeper** MU HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!

chris9383@korea.locus.net

The above letter is actually a regular visitor to my Misao shrine. And yes, her other emails are just as insane as this one (just take a look at my guestbook which she signed THREE times!). And "Misao", don't get mad at me for calling it the Weasel Girl Shrine... YOU WEASEL YOU! *sticks out tongue and dances around* You can't get me nya nya!

Li Ching writes,

To be really honest, I felt a little threatened by her when she made her first appearance in the Kyoto Arc.

I missed Kaoru sorely after the farewell scene and I felt I didn't need another woman "hogging" Kenshin. But as her character unfolded, I grew to feel for her. I love Misao for her courage and her confidence. And I love how she makes me laugh! Plus i love her hair ^_^ - such a kewl cut!

Li Ching
leach@singnet.com.sg

So you're threatened my Misao? Heh heh, so what if she was "hogging" Kenshin? It's not like she's in love with him or anything! Besides, Kenshin gets all the girls (i.e. Megumi, Kaoru, Tomoe). He's such a lucky little (insert bad word here)! And yeah, Misao makes me laugh too, I LOVE MISAO, but well, you already knew that or this page wouldn't exist!

Michina-Chan writes,

I like writing fanfics and making my own characters. Michina is my first character, which I took her name and like lived her life. When I decided on picturing her, I based almost her whole fighting costume to Misao's beautiful fighting costume. I even copied her gloves. She is my absolute fav. Female chara of all Anime. She's fun, good fighting skills, extremely beautiful, etc. MORE MISAO SHRINES SHOULD BE CONSTRUCTED!!!!!

Michina-Chan
michina_14@hotmail.com

Yes, I personally was thinking of making a Misao costume and wearing it to school, to work, to bed, and in the shower. But then I thought that by wearing it in public someone might try to shoot me and blood would get all over my pretty costume... so I decided not to make one. And about having OTHER Misao shrines on the net, sure that would be great, but I LIKE HAVING THE ONLY ONE!!!

Aya-Chan writes,

I agree with everything! Misao is a great fighter, she's pretty, she has the BEST outfit in the entire series, and she has the best personality.

I personally like Misao because she's not perfect, like Kenshin. I mean I love characters with personality flaws, it just makes her more lovable. Also Misao's voice actress is so cool!!! Before I watched the Anime series I thought they were gonna give her a real sqeaky, "cute" Sailor Moon type of voice. I love how she sounds when she says "Kansatsu Tobi-kunai!". Misao also has good taste in guys. Aoshi is so cute!!!! *drools*

Aya-Chan
misaoninja@aol.com

You got that right about Misao's personality, its the greatest! As for her costume, it sure is great, but the other Oniwabanshu wear it too, so it makes it a little "less" origninal on her, but I still like it on her the best! I love Misao's voice actress! I keep listening to Ice Blue Eyes (the Misao single) cuz her voice is just too great! I think I need to stop playing it so much, my neighbors wanna kill me. And as for Aoshi being cute, try again Miss Wizard...

Tetris no Miko writes,

Why do I love the girl? (despite the fact that I'm a girl myself >: )= didn't ANYONE else notice her STRIKING resemblence to Nuriko from Fushigi Yuugi?? She has (I swear), the EXACT same haircut (short in the front with a braid in the back), and though she doesn't have purple hair, she WEARS purple (and seeing as how purple is the coolest color in existence, I loved her immediately when I first saw her...and I've only seen up to vol. 9 of the anime too.... ;^_^) She even wears the little thingies on her lower arms that Nuriko wears! And like someone else said, she provides great comic relief, like Kaoru-dono and my beloved (besides Tasuki >: )= Sano-chan! [Sano: don't call me CHAN!!! Yahiko: Don't steal my lines!!!] After watching vol. 9, I immediately ordered more just because Misao was sooooo cool!! It's characters like her and Sano that I watch the series for (naw, i'm not that big on Himura Kenshin. Give him a MALE voice at least!!) Uh, okay, so before people get mad at me for not liking Hitokiri-sama so much and mail me bombs, I'll go away. Bye >: )=

Tetris no Miko

i_love_tasuki@juno.com

Yeah, maybe the braid in th e back of Misao's head resembles Nuriko, but if you remember, Nuriko was a GUY! Sure, he may LOOK like a girl, but underneath it all (no pun intended) is the proof that Nuriko is a guy who wants to be a girl! Misao, on the other hand, is ALL girl, so in that aspect she's got Nuriko beat! Both of them are in love with someone, (Nuriko loves Hotohori while Misao loves Aoshi), but at least Misao has a CHANCE with Aoshi! You don't like Himura-san? Everyone loves Himura! Of course ,most of us love Misao more, but there's always a special place in my heart for Kenshin, right under Misao. And don't worry, no one's gonna mailbomb you (right guys?).

Alex G. writes,

Hi all of you readers .... I just write to say how much I love Misao ! Well, you probably love her too .... otherwise all of you wouldn't be here at the Shrine. Ok, She is just great ..... so great and so pretty that all the words that I can write will not describe her .... She is much more of anything that anyone will be able to tell ..... Misao is the greatest girl of all times .... and worlds .... And she is always in my heart ..... Like she is in yours ! :-) Go, Misao, go and win ! You are the best ! Ok, that is all i have to say, bye now .... I hope that someday there will be a Misao fan mailing list !!! :-) I've to go .... Thanks you again for your attention and .... for the Shrine, the beautiful Shrine about that beautiful lady... MISAO !!!!!! :-)

Alex G.
ip262792@ip.pt

Hmm, it sounds like maybe you love Misao just a little more than me and THAT is rather scary! But thanks a bunch for all the comments, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside! Oh, and a Misao mailing list? I don't know about that... I thought about it once before, but I don't think that everyone is crazy enough to want to talk about Misao and ONLY Misao on a mailing list. That's why they have Rurouni Kenshin mailing lists, so you can talk about Misao as well as other characters.

Jayson Tanate writes,

My dear Misao,

Love comes, love goes But the sullen feeling never lets me be Somehow, I know Quite a part of me hasn't changed Since you've been gone Like a star, a tree That's seen a thousand seasons; I've to shed my leaves in winter To grow them back in spring To welcome life again To welcome you......

So goes my life Still believe in dreams of having you around Too bad, memories Free the mind and not the heart Where i want you to be So I ask myself what you have left behind for me; To go on each day, to live as if I had you once again What else is there that's real But all the pain that I feel.......

So let the pain remain forever in my heart, For every throb it brings Is one more moment spent with you; I'll let the pain Bring on the rain If it's the only way If there's no other way To be with you again.

Jayson.

I think maybe we have someone here who likes Misao more than I do. Be afraid... be very afraid...

Sakura writes,

let's start by saying what misao is to me. misao is my fave. character. she's so cool and strong. her voice is pretty boyish but it's better than a girlish voice. she's not very serious, actually she's pretty goofy! and funny!!! i think she's the best char. i liked because her attitude is so different. (she's not like kaoru who worries alot about kenshin when he fights. misao, instead of being worried just trust and belive that kenshin can defeat his enemies! now that's girl power!!^_^ ) i'll be like misao someday!: )

Sakura
miSaO_@kenshin-web.zzn.com

I guess Misao's voice is kind of deep, but I don't know if she sounds like a boy. She'd probably be really pissed off to hear you say that. Who knows, when the Rurouni Kenshin episodes coming out in the U.S. reach episode 33 (Misao's first appearance) maybe they'll pick an english voice actress with a higher voice. We'll have to wait and see! Um, you want to be like Misao? Hey, we can all dream, can't we?

Jason Guilas writes,

Lemme see besides Duo being my fave character(gundam Wing)I also like Misao very much. She is really my fave female character. She is very unique compared to other female characters. first of all she is very goofy acting but when comes to fighting she is very serious. when I go to sleep she is always on my mind. Secondly she is very full of energy even defeated she never gives up. man misao is really da best. I can't get my mind of her Damn it. About your shrine it's cool, really cool and keep up da good work it's really cool

p.s. She is my girlfriend so don't try courting her.

Well you seem to know all about Misao. And I give you extra points for telling me how cool my shrine is, hehe.

Joe writes,

Yes, even though the series ended quite a while ago, I still think Misao is the coolest girl in 90's anime/manga. I never thought I love her this much. But there is an undenying evidence -> When I feel lonely, I always visit Misao shrine (especially when my girlfriend is away). Well the things I like about her are... there are so many things....let's see....

She is tough. Although not the strongest, she knows very well how to fight. Seeing her for the first time reminded me of Nakoruru (from Samurai Spirits). With that piece of cloth (that Kenshin used to parry her shuriken), it was almost like she was to become Nakoruru of the series (fortunately, she remains funny).

Coolest female clothes in the history! Her fighting clothes are cool, but I like the one she wears at home most (no-no- I don't mean birthday clothes....if you know what I mean).

She's funny- this's what I like most about her. I actually wished Kenshin would dump Kaoru and end up with Misao (too harsh for Kaoru, may be). Kaoru is just too gloomy (no- Kaoru fans, I don't mean any offence). It would be really interesting if there is a love triangle between Misao, Kenshin, and Kaoru. Well, it wasn't to be.

So much to say, but I think others have mentioned them already. So I'm gonna stop here. Good day everyone.

-Joe
vk1@doc.ic.ac.uk

Well, I like anything Misao wears myself. I guess I like her in the Oniwabanshu uniform, since I'm used to seeing her in that the most. You think that Kenshin should dump Kaoru for Misao? I doubt Misao would go for that since she's so in love with Aoshi. However, I've always found it weird that Kaoru is only a year older than Misao... so theoretically I guess Kenshin and Misao COULD hook up. What's that I hear in the distance? Fanfiction idea? *wind blows*
