NBC daytime's critically acclaimed and suspenseful drama SUNSET BEACH will be featured in a primetime special on Friday, August 28, 1998 (8-9 p.m. ET).
The special will revisit the emotional SHOCKWAVE storyline -- one of the biggest undertakings in daytime television -- which combined the special effects of a summer blockbuster movie with the traditional format of daytime drama storytelling. The hour-long special, designed to be easily accessible to viewers who may not tune in regularly, will retell the story of a massive tidal wave hitting a cruise ship, the S.S. Neptune, while the people of Sunset Beach are trapped onboard. The tragedy is followed by an action-packed and heroic rescue mission where secrets are revealed, romance blossoms and lives are changed forever.
However, this special only received a 3.4 Neilsen rating and a 7% share in its Friday 8-9pm timeslot.
