Caroline's Story
1987
Beverly Hills playboy Ridge Forrester, one of the fashion industry's top designers, was used to getting what he wanted. Yet Ridge knew the only way he'd get virginal Caroline Spencer into his bedroom was if they wed - so Ridge proposed, much to the chagrin of Caroline's dad, publishing magnate Bill Spencer. Bill felt that Ridge would only give his daughter heartache. Ridge gave weight to Bill's concern when he threw caution to the wind and enjoyed one last fling with Alex, an old fling, shortly before the wedding. Ridge's indiscretion, however, didn't remain a secret, thanks to Conway Weston, a private eye Bill had hired to catch Ridge cheating on his fiancee. Conway quickly snapped several incriminating photographs of Ridge and Alex having just made love in a hotel room.
Bill showed Ridge the photos and ordered the philanderer to walk away from Caroline. Ridge refused, so Bill made good on his threat: He presented the pictures to Caroline as she was preparing to walk down the aisle. A devastated Caroline started to go through with the wedding, but the stress of her fiance's betrayal and her father's manipulative ways caused her to collapse at the altar. Caroline was rushed to the hospital, where she was befriended by Brooke Logan, a college student from the Valley majoring in chemistry, who was facinated with Ridge and Caroline's storybook romance.
