Hey there everybody!

I just bought Twenty Bucks at Best Buy on Friday. It was great even aside
from Steve being in it. Anybody who hasn't seen this movie should rush out
and see it. Steve looks really cute in it and oh-so-dangerous!!!!!!!! His
character is kind of a con-artist turned liquor store robber. It's really
cool.

The local classic rock station I listen to does a "highly scientific poll"
on Tuesdays. Listeners call in with their answers to the questions. I call
in once in a while. Today, one of them was 'Best picture?' to which I
answered Trees Lounge. I was surprised when they all knew what I was
talking about, and complimented me on my good taste. I didn't mention that
I haven't seen it yet, although it is on my list of movies to see once I
get a VCR.

Subject: Hudsucker Proxy

Hello group! Well....since there is a momentary pause while Steve gears up
for the movie 'Armageddon', I am sitting home watching all of his earlier
movies. I pick up Hudsucker Proxy, a Coen brother's film, and put in in the
VCR.

I have two words to describe the movie (in my opinion): stu-pid.

that's about it in a nutshell. I appreciate the effort made on this movie,
but the acting by Jennifer Jason Leigh was horrid...unless you like her acting
quasi-Hepburn-style. Yeah, her "one of the guys" attitude and mile-a-minute
talk was a real turn-off for me.

Steve, however, was great...however, don't just watch for him. His part is
all of 54 seconds long. He is great as a beatnik bartender, however!
'This is a juice and coffee bar, man!'

Anyways....my final thoughts on this movie are: 1. Don't expect a great
'Fargo' performance....the Coen's can't be great all the time...that's what
makes them human. 2. Don't watch it if you have a
headache....Jennifer Jason Leigh will kill you off. (and) 3. Remember that
these are just my opinions....You could see this movie and die of
laughter...and want to shoot me for bad-mouthing the movie.

Well, happy watching for now.....

Jennifer

P.S. I was at the bookstore and saw this magazine called "Total Film." It
is a British magazine, and I had to pay $8.00 for it, but it was worth it
'cause guess who had a great picture in it--you guessed it...Steve!!! It is a
great picture, takes up half the page, of him getting ready to bowl. He is
wearing a green bowling shirt that has bowling pins for buttons! If you like
to see him in consentration, buy this magazine...if you can find it.....

Hi there!

I think that picture that Jennifer was talking about of Steve with the bowling
pin shirt getting ready to bowl is the same picture inside the cover of The
Big Lebowski soundtrack. In case you can't find that magazine. :-)

Subject: Black Kites info?

Hi everybody!

I was just wondering if anybody knew anything about Black Kites? What's it
like? What's it about? What's Steve's part like? Where is it available? If
you've seen it would you recommend it? I heard his wife Jo Andres wrote and
directed it. Has anybody seen it? Is it foreign? I saw a picture of Steve's
wife and I think it was supposed to have something to do with Black Kites but
I'm not sure if she's in it or if the picture was just from the set. Any
information at all would be great. Thanks

A few of us do know what it's about. ;-) I'll try to make this an
informative little email.

> What's it like?

It's a very good piece of "experimental" art crossed with real human
emotions. Some of it is definitely different from what the average person
is used to viewing.

> What's it about?

It is a story about a woman's hopes and dreams and fears during a war.
The actual storyline is derived from a Sarejevan (sp?) artists drawings
and journals during the seige of Sarejevo.

> What's Steve's part like?

The entire film is approximately 15 minutes in length, and Steve is in
only about 5 minutes. (His son actually has more screen time. *grin*)
The part that he does play is that of a father to this little boy. Based
on these scenes, I know that I'd love to see the two of them (Steve and
his son) interacting in a real setting (ie- their home or the park).
There is one scene where his expression says more than any words could
ever say. (Those of you who've seen this should know what I'm talking
about. Those that haven't, you should know the feeling based on his other
films. The man is a master at facial expressions.)

> Where is it available?

Unfortunately, it is nearly impossible to get ahold of as far as I'm
aware. I managed to luck out and caught it on a tv show called "Alive TV"
which airs on PBS. I would keep a lookout for it there, and also check
the two web sites that have links off of my page. The links are for film
festivals, but they may have info on how to obtain the films.

> If you've seen it would you recommend it?

I would definitely recommend it if you like art films or are interested in
seeing a variety of different types of films.

> I heard his wife Jo Andres wrote and directed it.

This is correct, and it was done extremely well.

> Is it foreign?

It is foreign in the sense that it's based on the Sarejevan artist's work,
but it is local in its production. It could also be local in how anyone
would feel under the conditions that are set up.

Where was this picture that you saw? I'm just curious because I've only
gotten to see a few pictures of her over the years. (Magazines and Web)

I hope that covers everything and more. If not, feel free to ask me more.

Hey!
This is the first time I've posted on this list, but I thought I
had to defend The Hudsucker Proxy. Why does everyone think Jennifer
Jason Leigh is "horrid" in this? She's ont all that bad. She
certainly didn't give me a headache.
I think it's a great movie. It reminds me of Orson Welles' films
in many ways. Steve, of course, is amazing once again! Everyone's
entitled to their own opinion, but I think you do this movie a
disservice.

I just ordered a book called: The Big Lebowski: The Making of a Coen Brothers
Movie by William Preston Robertson. I saw part of it in Premiere Magazine a
while back. The part I saw had Steve in it. It's supposed to have tons of
pictures and interviews. It looks cool. Anyway you can find it at Amazon.com

Just thought I'd let everybody know.

Hey there again,

Um, I have an un-opened still shrink-wrapped extra copy of Parting Glances.
Anybody want to trade? I'm most interested in finding Living In Oblivion.
I've looked everywhere and nobody has it. The only place I found it was
Reel.com but they want like $80 for it or something. For that kind of money
Steve better come with the movie and sit on the couch and narrate it. If
nobody has LIO, does anybody have anything rare of Steve? Or maybe does
anybody have interviews with him that they'll tape in exchange for the movie?
Let me know soon. Thanks :-)

Hey

Whoever that was who ordered the BIG LEBOWSKI book should try their
damnedest to cancel the order! I bought it at a local bookstore the
other day when I was in a hurry, without looking through it first --
BIG MISTAKE!
You can practically count on one hand the times that any reference to
Steve was made -- you'd think he wasn't in the movie! And, I don't
think there's more than one picture of him, and it's tiny! Only buy
this book if you are a huge fan of the Coen brothers or the movie
itself. If your just getting it for the Steve parts you'll be very
disappointed, I know I was.

Hi,

It's me again. I had assumed that everyone had seen that "guitar
playin' Steve" at the WEDDING SINGER site, or I would have mentioned
it a while ago. But, this let me know that there might be some of you
that haven't seen the 2 short interview clips of Steve at the BIG
LEBOWSKI site (www.lebowski.com). The site has changed quite a bit
from what it looked like at first. And the layout is kind of confusing
as far as where things are. If you're not sure where to click you
mouse, I THINK that you're supposed to click the bowling pins. Well
that's it for now, except for that I hope that Steve presents a award
at the ISAs so I can look at him! ;)

movie.
Now! L.I.O. is a great FILM!!!!!! While Steve is great as Nick,
the rest of the cast is also extremely funny (especially James Le Gros and
Dermot Mulroney). Go out and buy these films quick if you can!!!

I realize this is bad timing, but "Countdown to Armageddon" was on MTV last
(Friday) night at 10:30 pm. It was pretty good, b/c during the first 5
minutes they showed kinda like a preview for the movie--guess who was in it?
of course--the king of one-liners--Steve!

They show him saying: "Beam me up, Scotty!" ooooooo baby

Have no fear, check your local listings: MTV always plays these shows more
that once! Check for "Countdown to Armageddon"

STEVE BUSCEMI WILL BE HOSTING SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE ON APRIL 4.

Also, Entertainment Weekly is at it again! They make fun of Steve again in
their latest issue. Hey, at least they're making some reference to the guy.
It's actually pretty funny. The cartoon is on Page 14 of the March 27 1998
issue (John Travolta/Emma Thompson cover).

And I finally saw The Big Lebowski. I don't know if you all are with me on
this one, but I thought he looked fantastically sexy in this film. Loved the
haircut -- good luck to John Goodman and Jeff Bridges garnering any of my
attention during those sexy bowling scenes! And I have to say it, John
Turturro was a hoot, too. Steve was so far removed from Fargo in this
one...hard to believe they're the same actor. What a range...
