i must say i agree, i never saw much of a point in asking people for
autographs, such as musicians. but to write a letter, know that steve has
read it, and recieve a picture of him would be a completely different
story! can someone please post the adress again? (sorry to be so late)/
and also, is he sending everyone armageddon pics cause i would SO much
rather have a photo from any movie other that that.

Now Janet is saying:
You were loud and clear to me, I feel the same way you do about it. An
autograph is the ONE thing that is a personal gift from a celebrity to a fan,
and you can stand in a line after you've paid gold ticket seating at a con to
get a 'free' autograph in person, or you can pay a company that takes care of
the paperwork for you so you don't have to get on a plane, get a hotel, buy a
$50 seat, and stand in a line so you can get a 3-second smile and maybe a
handshake if you're really lucky. Most auto lines won't let you give gifts,
they *might* let you get a photo with the celeb, and you don't get a
certificate of authenticity with the autograph, so it's your word against the
world's that you were actually there unless you scan it all to a website.
Marni is right about Bruce, he's a pretty accessible guy compared to most
celebs, but it's actually partly because so many people have dug up his
personal email addy and passed it around that he finally just gave in, and I
got that info from a fan club prez who knows his secretary. It's amazing (and
scary) what a 15 year old can get on a search engine, because I've seen it.
The nice thing about being able to order an auto'd piccy is that you don't
have to leave your house to get involved as a fan. And it probably means a
lot more to the people who *can't* leave their homes much. Sometimes the
coolest thing you can do for a really sick kid is give them an autographed pic
or something from a celebrity, really cheers them up, makes them feel like
they're part of it all. I'm not a sick kid, but I was dancing all over the
place over Steve's autographed picture for my birthday, I can't tell you how
cool that was opening that and being so surprised.

Yeah, a pressed flower would be unique and nice, but how would we be sure that
it was actually Steve sending the flowers and not just an assistant? That's
what's nice about the auto'd photo; you know that he signed it and
acknowledged your appreciation.

I dislike admitting it, but I probably would donate to a charity that Steve
endorsed.

Does anyone know when "Impostors" comes out? And will "Louis et Frank" ever
come out to the US?

Has anyone gotten an auto'd pic from any movie other than Res Dogs?

I think the reason that people go so "ga-ga" over autographs is
because it's like an acknowledgment of you, as a fan. And, it's cool
to know that your favorite star was actually *touching* the same thing
that you now are! Plus, you figure if they're bothering to send you an
*real* autographed picture, they most likely read your fan letter.
Although, I would appreciate getting a short handwritten letter or
note even more.

At the same time, how can you assume that it's not an assistant that has
merely learned to forge Steve's autograph. It's not like there is all
that much to learn to forge, and I'm sure that many of us would be capable
of doing such a thing given enough time to practice. (No, I'm not
advocating it, just making a point.)

The Impostors already came out in limited release in Los Angeles and New
York. It was supposed to go wider a few weeks later, but apparently it
wasn't wide enough. As for Louis et Frank, Alex Rockwell said at a chat
that the French distribution company didn't see any point in releasing the
film in the US. That was back in August. I haven't heard anything since.

Not so...I don't know how the licensing works, but Blockbuster video and
the like simply throw out the posters and cut-outs anyway...so you might
as well ask. I've gotten several posters that way.

Subject: Drew Carey/Armageddon display/Arma. ratings/Playing Cards

Hi All,

I'm a little later at posting than I hoped to, so I'll keep this brief:
Thanks for the info on the L.A. Law and Drew Carey shows. :) I was
home on Monday night writing an e-mail with Drew Carey on in the
background (not expecting Steve's episode to run yet), and sure enough,
there he was on the screen and I didn't have a tape set up! Noooo! At
least now I know when to look for him when they run the series again.
For anyone who hasn't seen it, he looks awesome and I recommend watching
it (the episode is funny, too). I pretty much "jumped out of my socks"
like Janet did when she was caught with her empty vcr! *grin*

As far as the Wal-Mart display, I have discovered a pic that's extremely
close to that one (if not the same). A friend of a friend works there
part-time, so I'll check with him.
I agree with Tricia that most employees claim displays right away.
That's always happened when I've wanted movie posters in the past. I'll
still check around......
BTW, when checking out the newspaper the other day, I stumbled on a
little Armageddon article called "Armageddon smashes into record". It
said: Armageddon's third week in video stores helped smash the record
for U.S. Thanksgiving week rental review. Armageddon contributed to an
astronomical total of $219.71 million for the holiday week, better than
the $202.23 million for last year and $216.14 million for in 1996, when
VSDA started tracking rental revenue.
I just thought it was cool that the movie is doing so well on video.

The Big Lebowski Playing Cards sound cool! I didn't even know there
were cards for movies.

Bye for now,
Eileen.

Hi all,

It's that time of year again. No, not Christmas but the guy we all
love, Steve's, birthday. I've already sent a card but was wondering if
there were any plans to have honourary parties? A few months ago it was
mentioned that some people in California were going to rent a theatre
and watch movies. Since I live about 45 min away from Toronto I can't
go but I think it would be fun to do that here with anyone who's
interested. It would be a great way to meet some people on the list and
share our common interest. Please e-mail me if anyone in this area
would like to do this or has already planned something like it.

I was on a list for an 'unknown' celeb where everybody writes something and
the fan club prez binds it into a yearly book and gives it to him. Big

I sound like a kid with my actors too, and I'm 27!
A belated Happy Birthday to Steve who's getting even more handsome as
each year passes.

I was at the Athena picture and poster store on the weekend. I don't

bunch of similar stores), but I came across 2 posters with Steve on them
from Reservoir Dogs. I don't know if everyone has seen these, but I
thought I should mention them. The one poster is from the scene of
Steve and Harvey pointing the guns at each other, the other is of the
whole cast.

They're pretty cool. =o)

And if he has severe indigestion or is having a crappy day in general, that
might be all you want, haha! I'd rather get to film with him, that would
really be cool. I'd rather have all the time in the world in general than any
tiny amount of time alone with him. Besides, he's got a wife and kid. Gotta
respect that.

Steve also sang in "Somebody to Love" and "The Imposters."
"Somebody to Love" is out on video and also stars Harvey Keitel and Rosie
Perez.
"The Imposters" was in the theaters recently and stars Oliver Platt and
Stanley Tucci.

Both are a MUST for Steve fans, in my opinion.

No, that was ConAir! In Trees Lounge he does the Mayor of Munchkinland's part
of the Munchkin song from the Wizard of Oz.

i am cursed horribly. i am thirteen, and i am not allowed to watch R
movies. i did see fargo, because i was on TV but it was very disapointing
though when you could tell that they were doing Voice Overs. i have seen
all of Steve's movies that aren't R, except for Ed and His Dead Mother,
which i cannot find.

anyway, for christmas i got armageddon, the armageddon book and airheads.
the armageddon book has a few pictures of steve in it [not nearly as many
as i would prefer ;)] and they're real cute. check it out if you can.

k.y.m.

p.s. i was reffering to the "Visions Of Armageddon" making-of-the-movie
and not the novel.

merry christmas!

Steve sings a tiny bit when they show his character's rock video in
Parting Glances.
His promotion photos in the movie look hilarious!
He also sings in The Impostors, which I can't wait to come to
video........;o)
I can't think of any others at the moment......

Bye for now,
Eileen.
P.S.: Last night, we went to see The Faculty for it's opening night in
the theatre and Dave spotted a display stand for Stepmom. He snuck up
to it and started tugging on the picture of Susan Sarandon! It seems my
thoughts of getting that Armageddon display have started something!
Ooops! *grin*

i was wondering if someone could do me a favor. i have been trying to
find the movie somebody to love forever, but since its out of print, it
costs a ton of money. is there anyone out there that can get me a copy for
a reasonable price? i would really appreciate it.
take care
jules
p.s. in my local newspaper the imposters was part of the top 10 movies
of the year :)

{The copy of Somebody to Love that I had offered in an available archive
is no longer available as Jules has grabbed it.  MH}

Someone might have mentioned this already earlier, but anyways, there's
a picture of Steve in Adam Sandler's next movie BIG DADDY in the January
1999 issue of UK film mag TOTAL FILM. On page 41. He plays a bum and looks
very convincing. :) I'll also quote the text:

"Surprising no one with his uncanny ability to look dishevelled and mad
is Steve Buscemi, returning as a New York street bum for his second cameo
in an Adam Sandler comedy (remember him as the abusive best man in The
Wedding Singer?)"

(They, of course, forgot BILLY MADISON.)
