I was watching TV last night, and I saw a commercial for _Billy Madison_. Unfortunately, I don't recall the details. I believe that the promotion ran on FOX. Did anyone else catch this?

I think it's on this Friday on FOX. But I've been wrong before.

Hi, everybody -- just thought I'd put my 2 cents in about BILLY MADISON on TV. It must be mainly on the West Coast that it's showing on FOX, because in the Mid-West, where I am, it was supposed to be on ABC. I say WAS, because supposed to be on tonight (Thursday) ,but was preempted for some news show on this scandalous presidential bullshit!

_Debt_ is a tv game show that airs on the Lifetime Channel. The host is Wink Martindale, who used to do some game shows in the '70s. One day while I was watching, they had a category called something to the effect of "The Roles of Steve Buscemi." It was in the second of 3 rounds of play. In this round, two contestants have to say how many of the topic questions they can name up to a maximum of 5 questions. The first person said she could name three. I, of course, was yelling at them to do 5. The second person said "Prove it." While she was answering, I was telling her to miss just to see all five questions. Unfortunately, she didn't. Anyway, I can't recall which of the movies they used, but they were rather obvious. In fact, one of them was so obvious that I couldn't come up with the name for a few seconds.

Hope that answers it,
Marni

From: Marni Hager

I just got my issue of Entertainment Weekly in the mail today. I was thumbing through to see if Party of Five was mentioned on what to watch Wednesday; and lo and behold, there was a picture of Steve with Mimi (from Drew Carey). Steve looks rather good, although the hair could go a bit shorter, IMO.

They give a brief description of the episode he's going to be on. (p.56)

The issue also has a piece on Drew Barrymore's lipstick/makeup (I haven't read it, and don't plan to) in _The Wedding Singer_. They only mention Adam Sandler briefly in the paragraph. (p.15)

Let me know if you want either of these typed up.

Hi Everyone,

Vanessa had asked me if it were possible to send a picture of Steve as an attachment. Because attachments can be pains to deal with depending on what type of email system you use, I asked her if it was up on a web page. The following is the web page for the picture.

Hi, all--

I'm the type of person who saves everything I lay my hands on, so lately I've started a project to get rid of some old magazines. I seem to have every Premiere and Entertainment Weekly I've ever read, going back all the way to 1992.

So I've been flipping through them for Steve references before getting rid of them, and I found some interesting clips. More to come, I'm sure.

In the September 1993 Premiere, there's a small article called, "Say it Right: Name Droppers' Cheat Sheet." Here the correct pronunciation of the last name is "Buh-sem-ee." Yet another candidate, I suppose, I thought it was "Boo-sem- ee." Oh well, I suppose if I ever meet the guy, I'll just greet him with a friendly, "Hi, Steve!"

The June 1994 Premiere has a section on all of the upcoming Summer movies, including "Airheads." Here's the clip:

"Brendan Fraser, Adam Sandler, and Steve Buscemi star as members of a rock band so desparate for airplay that they (inadvertently) commandeer a radio station. Fraser's heartthrob role was once tabbed for the ever reluctant John Cusack, while Buscemi -- whose character kicks off the takeover by whipping out a mock Uzi squirt gun filled with Tabasco -- blended right in. 'When a band was visiting the set,' says director Michael Lehmann, 'one of the members pulled Steve aside and said, 'Hey, man, how're you doing? You're the guy from Metallica, right?' Wrong."

Thought you might find that amusing.

Also, I finally saw the preview for "The Wedding Singer" last night. Laughed my ass off. The funny thing was, as soon as Steve showed up, a group of girls started screaming and laughing. Guess we're not the only ones!

Also, when I went to see Titanic, I expected to see a preview of "Armageddon." Instead, I got this other something's-coming-out-of-the-sky-oh-no-we're-all- gonna-die movie. I didn't know it wasn't Armageddon til the end, so there I am, looking for Steve like an idiot when it isn't even the right movie.

Anyway, I was wondering, what did you all think of Titanic, anyway? I really liked it, though it did lack a Buscemian element.

Oh well, I'm outta here--
Talk to ya later,
Puck

Hi Everyone,

I found that Steve was in the 14 May, 1990 issue of People Magazine. I don't know if it was an article on him, or just a review. I was wondering if anyone had this magazine. I've searched the People Magazine web site, and they don't let you go back past 1992 or so. :-( If you have it, could you please email me?

Thanks,
Marni

Subject: Pronunciation of Buscemi
Date: Sun, 25 Jan 1998 16:13:58 -0800
From: Ron Hearn

In the 1/16/98 episode of Homcide Life on the Streets (NBC), there's a reference to Steve B. Detective Munch is looking at a body in the ME's lab and remarks "with that little moustache and those beady little eyes, he looks like a cross between Steve Buscemi, John Waters and Edgar Allen Poe". I noted that he pronounced the name Boo-Shee-Me. BTW, according the HLOTS newsgroup, both SB and John Waters have made appearances on the show.

Regards
Ron

{Thanks for the entire quote Ron. I mentioned this to everyone on the list immediately after I heard the line, but some new people have joined the list since then. As for the pronunciation, I thought that Munch (Richard Belzer) prounounced it as boo-SHE-me with a short E, as opposed to boo-SHEE-me with a long E. Marni}

I looked in this week's People magazine, but I didn't see Steve! Was he in last week's issue? If I'm wrong (this has happened before), could somebody please let me know what part of the magazine I should look in? Oh, one other thing; there is a picture of Steve with Frances McDormand and her Coen brother husband from a post-Oscar party in the People Magazine 1997 Year in Review book (or whatever it's called). It's not the one we usually see, it shows Steve's lovely profile.

You can find a much bigger version of the same pic of Steve and Kathy Kinney from the magazine, at the website: www.ew.com from there go to the "TV today" section and then go to Wednesday, where you will find the aforementioned photo. I know, I know -- I should learn how to make links! But, this skill has alluded me for a while!

There is also a new BIG LEBOWSKI teaser site at: www.lebowski.com It's only one page, but it is a cool one page, complete with oscillating pictures of the main cast of characters. Including Steve as Donny. :)

I didn't look at People carefully when I was at the supermarket, so I checked their site online. There are two links to two different pages. One is a page with lots of comments. The other has a pic of Steve and a quick blurb.

Comments page:
http://pathfinder.com/people/sp/sma97/menweluv/weluvmail.html

Blurb page:
http://pathfinder.com/people/sp/sma97/menweluv/weluv8.html"

This address is for a video that you can download of Steve doing a bit of stand-up comedy. (I have yet to check it out.)
http://pathfinder.com/people/video/buscemi.html

If you go to http://pathfinder.com/people, you can then do a search for "Buscemi" and come up with two pages of pictures and blurbs about him. That's pretty much how I found the above stuff.

This is to remind everyone that Steve will be guest starring on The Drew Carey Show tonight (28 Jan, 1998). I know that this is one show that I refuse to not tape! For those who don't know, The Drew Carey Show airs on ABC at 9pm EST/PST.

Happy viewing,

Ok, actually it is to gloat. ;-) I just have to say that I have one of the coolest friends possible. I've been waiting for several weeks for a holiday gift from this guy because he said he knew what he wanted to get me, he just needed to find it. Well, after he got it, he sent it to my mother's address. After convincing her to put a "forward to" on the present, I finally got it in my box yesterday.

I knew that it was going to be a picture of something, most likely Steve because he knows I'm a die-hard fan. When I opened it, sure enough, I found a picture of Steve. However, my jaw dropped when I saw that it was an *autographed* picture of him. (It has the certificate of authenticity as well.)

I was talking to my friend today to thank him, and he said that he saw it at one location (on the 'net, from what I gather) selling it for $75. He found it for less, and if you're interested, I can give you the web address. I don't know how much they charged, and I don't want to know. Anyone else have cool friends or relatives out there?

Saw the show and taped it. Very cute, especially the 9 1/2 Weeks take off in the beginning. One question: since Steve's character is Mimi's lawyer, and Mimi's lawsuit hasn't been resolved (and probably will continue on for awhile), is Bobby McJay a recurring character?

{The name of the character is actually 'Bobby Marchetti,' not 'Bobby McJay'. Having looked at the episode guide on www.abc.com, it doesn't appear so.}

Also, does anyone know the title of this episode?

{The episode's title was: "Mr. Louder's Birthday Party"} - Liisa
