Subject: Steve Quiz / Opinion Poll
Well, things have been pretty slow around the list lately, so I decided to
come up with a quiz / opinion poll that might get all you Steve fans out there
thinking!!
{Answers were mailed directly to CatsKats, and then compiled. The
compilation appears later in this archive. Now back to CatsKats:}
Ok--answer honestly!!! (For your reference, there is a list of all of his
movies at the bottom of this e-mail !!!)
QUIZ
1. In your opinion, in what movie did Steve play his shortest role?
2. In which movie was he most annoying?
3. What was the worst movie he's ever been in?
4. What was the best movie he's ever been in?
5. In which movie did he act poorly (I know this question is hard, but answer
honestly! ) ?
6. In which movie did he act to the best of his abilities?
7. In which movie was Steve at his most hilarious?
8. What was the most endearing character he's ever played (please name the
character and the movie title) ?
9. Which movie did he look cutest in?
10. Which movie did he look his worst in?
11. What is the most interesting role that Steve has ever been put in?
12. Which movie was the hardest to watch him in (for example, you might've
thought the character didn't really fit him, or the character was going
through some difficult times that you would never want to happen to Steve)?
13. Which movie character that he has played best fits his personality?
14. Which movie do you think was crucial in his career?
15. Do you think Steve will make it as a director?
Bonus: Name his wife and his son. :)~
MOVIE LIST (and there are A LOT of them!!!! )
{Because of the length of Steve's filmography, I have taken the list out.
All of the movies and tv shows he's been in can be found at a number of
places, including http://indieFan.home.ml.org/films.html and
http://dancy.franz.com/~virago/buscemi. MH}
Thanks for taking the poll!

I mean he really looks good in the first one. YUM!!!!! Anyway, when you get
to the page use the little "pick a celebrity" thing to choose Steve's name

Well, I can't read it, but I know that there is a rumor going around
that Steve will be in the next Batman as Scarecrow. From what I can

There is, in fact, going to be a Batman 5, but I haven't heard any
official word on who the cast is.
Does anyone know anything more official?

Well, from what I could figure from using an online German-English
dictionary, (my very limited knowledge of German being of absolutely no
use) he's desired in the role of the Scarecrow in Batman 5. I believe I
also recall hearing/seeing this before somewhere, perhaps in the mailing
list archives?

I ahd heard this too, but he was only 1 of many many people who WB was
considering for the Scarecrow role, including John Travolta and the more
likely Jeff Goldblum. Unfortunitly for us Buscemi fans, this movei will MOST
LIKELY never be made, since WB ahs scrapped the script. They are thinking or
doing a rendition of Nightfall (when Bane breaks Batman's back) or soemthing
about Batman when he first became a crimefighter. unfortunatly again, both
ideas most liekly will NOT have Steve. :(
On another note though, I just read the orginal script for Jurassic Park that
wasn't sued and it si very differentf rom teh movie and much more like teh
book. I noticed though, that the characetr of Gennaro the lawyer, woudl ahve
been played perfectly by Steve if they used had that script, sincee the
character was a lot like Rockhound in Armageddon!

I am also on a Ewan McGregor list & have heard that they were interested in
casting Ewan as Scarecrow. I also heard on that lists a rumor that
Leonardo DiCaprio (ugh) might get a role & Kurt Russell might play Batman.
All of them wanted to chock it up to rumor because they don't like Batman.
I enjoy all of the Batman movies so I disagreed. Who would Jeff Goldblum
play? I would like to see any of these great actors cast except DiCaprio
of course. I would pick Russell to be Batman & Steve to be Scarecrow
though.

A Buscemi fan wrote to me recently and asked me if I knew anything
about a movie called "The Poster Boy." Apparently, this fan had seen
Steve in the back of a recent issue of People magazine (the issue with

Sorry, but I don't really understand what's so unfortunate about it.
I mean, haven't you see the latest two Batman movies directed by

WELL, I was thinking that IF Steve had been cast for the Sacrecrow, think fo
how many people would then recognize hiM?? I mean, he woudl get a whoel lot
of attention if he was in it..ALSO, I heard that the enxt movie will most

Shumacher actually ebing a FANTASTIC director (seen Falling Down? The

And then again, what good would that be? More small parts in big Hollywood
disaster movies for him? No thanks. I prefer Buscemi as an independent

Well, I wouldn't call Schumacher a fantastic director, although he
has done some good movies (and some bad ones). Still, I lost what little
respect I had for him when I saw Batman Forever. Urgh.

RE BATMAN: If any of the batman movies were ever worth a hoot I think
Steve Buscemi as the Scarecrow would be fabulous, but unfortunately I
thought all of the batman movies were horrid. All except the first
one of course. I loved Michael Keaton as Batman.
anyways... In between Steve's projects I've enjoyed Armageddon (seen
it twice and I love Steve as the genius wearing a t-shirt with a big
pot leaf on it) and SNL. Steve is just a talented genius who makes me
laugh by not even saying a word.
Take care folks...

Hi everyone,
Just a reminder that The Wedding Singer comes out on video August 4th and The
Big Lebowski comes out August 11th. So far I've only heard that they are
coming out for rent, not for sale. But, always check the used movie bins
shortly after a movie comes out because alot of times stores will sell off
excess copies. You especially might want to check for The BIg Lebowski in a
used bin since it wasn't a huge hit so they might start selling it used after
it's been out for a while. That's how I got ConAir long before it was
released for sale.
Please, I beg you, if anyone gets any info on The Real Blonde video release or

Hey,
My local theatre here in California had a HUGE poster of Steve as
Rockhound. They had 3 of those long tall posters up above the popcorn
counter. One was of Will Patton as Chick, Steve Buscemi as Rockhound
and Michael Duncan as Bear. My nephew knows of a place in Sacramento

Subject: THE RESULTS ARE IN!!!!!!!
Hello all! It is Tuesday night and I have had the BEST time compiling the
answers~! :) 13 wonderful people gave their opinions to the poll and for
the sake of keeping this e-mail short, I only put the answers that were given
the most (or I thought were kinda outrageous! ) ENJOY!!!
Here goes:
1. Steve's shortest role: 6 of the 13 people responded with PULP
FICTION, while Hudsucker Proxy and Billy Madison were tied for second.
2. Steve's most annoying character: 3 people responeded with MILLER'S
CROSSING (suprise!) while Fargo came in second with 2 votes. I was surprised
to see people respond with Armageddon and The Big Lebowski !!!
3. Steve's worst movie: I know it is hard to decide, and 3 people said "I
don't know", while "THE LAST OUTLAW" took the high rank.
4. Steve's best movie: Top honors went to RESERVOIR DOGS with 5 votes,
followed closely by Trees Lounge and Pulp Fiction.
5. Steve's worst acting: Man, what a hard question! Not too suprising was
that AIRHEADS received 3 votes, and 3 people gave no answer. Other movies
listed as his worst acted were Armageddon and Billy Madison, and others.
6. Steve's best acting: No suprise here! TREES LOUNGE came out on top with
5 votes, followed closely by Reservoir Dogs (3 votes).
7. Steve at his most hilarious: I was suprised that THE WEDDING SINGER came
out on top (with 4 votes) because of how short Steve's role was: "The best
man, yeah, ...the better man!" :) Airheads and Armageddon followed close
behind!
8. Steve's most endearing character: Because we all love Steve when he's
vulnerable :)~ .....the winner was TOMMY BASILIO (TREES LOUNGE) with 4
votes, followed closely behind by Adolpho Rollo (In the Soup) and Ed (Ed and
His Dead Mother).
9. Steve the hottie: The majority, with 5 votes, picked RESERVOIR DOGS,
while 3 others picked his "psycho" looks in Con Air!
10. Steve: not quite as hot!: It was no surprise to me that FARGO topped
this list with 4 votes.....but yes!...Airheads was on there! :)~
11. Steve's most interesting role: The Marietta Mangler...GARLAND GREENE
(CON AIR) received the most votes with 3, followed closely behind by Mr. Pink
(Res. Dogs) and Rex (Airheads).
12. The hardest movie to watch Steve in: (not to mention that this is a
"hard" question!) THE BIG LEBOWSKI and BILLY MADISON tied for first with 2
votes each, although a slew of other movies made the list: In the Soup and
Parting Glances, for example.
13. The character that best fits Steve's personality: This question was hard
b/c of the fact that we don't really know Steve's personality, but some good
movies were given. Not suprising was that alot of people think Steve's
personality is kind and gentle, therefore making TOMMY BASILIO (TREES LOUNGE)
come out on top, with Nick Reve (Living in Oblivion) coming in second. I was
suprised, however, that some people thought that Rockhound (Armageddon) and
Mr. Pink (Res. Dogs) best fit his personality!
14. Most crucial movie to Steve's career: The majority of the voters really
came together on this question! An amazing 10 votes were given for RESERVOIR
DOGS!!!!!!!! Hmmm...obvious? :)
15. Will Steve make is as a director? I think many of us were being nice
when we responded by saying "Yes" and "Definitely!", but a few of us chose to
be realistic and say "No". I think one person said it best with the
statement: "I definitely don't know."
Bonus: 12 of the 13 people got it right! Way to go!!! (I think that one
person chose not to remember his wife's name! :)~ ) Wife: Jo Andres
Son: Lucian
Thank you everyone for sending in your answers! I was shocked by some of the
opinions, and I agreed with others.

Subject: Steve on directing commercials
Hi everybody,
I found this in Mondays's Daily News in the L.A. Life section. It was a long
article on directors directing commercials and moslty concentrated on Tim
Burton but it did have two short paragraph's on Steve.
The following is a quote of the 2 paragraphs which concerned Steve.
"Everything is micromanaged", says Steve Buscemi, a busy actor ("Armageddon",
"Fargo") and an up-and-coming filmaker who directed commercials for the WNBA.
"You've got 30 seconds to get something across. Every second counts"
Still, Buscemi says, "That, at times, got kind of trying for me. I guess I
wasn't used to having that much input. ...It was definitly one of the hardest

Subject: Steve on HBO
A friend of mine told me that he saw Steve on a preview for something
coming up on HBO. It was him and a lot of other big actor, and he has
long hair. I have no clue what he is talking about. Anyone have a
clue? BTW, it could be on HBO2 since he has satellite and I don't

Sounds like it might be just an ad for Airheads. Anyone else have any ideas?

Subject: Recurring Homicide role?
Hi everyone,
I just read in a book that Steve had a recurring role on Homicide: Life on the
Street. I thought that he had just made a guest appearance once and then
directed an episode. Does anyone know if he did have a recurring role? Also,
can anyone give me any info on the role he played? What was his name? What
did he do? What was his character like? And if anyone gets any info on when
the Steve episode(s) will be replayed could you let me know? I have the one
he directed on tape but not the one(s) he was in. Thanks a lot guys!

{Steve most definitely did not have a recurring role on H:LotS. He is
featured in the third episode of a three episode arc. His character's
name was Gordon Pratt. MH}

Subject: *spoilers* H:LotS character
Hi Everyone,
I intended to write a bit more about this character and story when I got
the chance. So now I'm writing.
Steve's character on the show Homicide: Life on the Street is named
Gordon Pratt (which I will use here on out). Pratt appears in the third,
and final episode, of this particular arc. The basic storyline is that
the cops knock on a door to ask questions, but it turns out that there was
a typo on the paper they were using. Thus, they knocked on the wrong door
which happened to be Pratt's.
Basically, at this point, nobody on the force knows anything about the
mistake. When Pratt's door is knocked on, bloodshed ensues. Pratt is
picked up after a long, hard search, and is brought into the box. Here,
two cops (who weren't at the scene of the shootings) question Pratt, and
discover little things about his past that manage to humiliate him.
Throughout the questioning, Pratt remains calm and collected while showing
just how insane he is. Eventually Pratt is let go because the cops can't
prove anything.
I won't give out any more of the story in case you want to see the
episode. I have to say that this is definitely one of Buscemi's best
roles ever because he has such phenominal actors to work off of, esp.
Andre "Pembleton" Braugher. As tired as I am of having him play roles in
which he is scum, this is one role that I'll watch again if I remember
about it.

Subject: mailing Steve, Impostors, Airheads
So I was kinda upset today b/c when I got home I found that the letter I tried
to mail Steve had come back cuz apparently they couldn't send it. Has this
happened to anyone else? Does anyone know the real address, or at least an
alternative one?
What's up with "The Imposters?" Is that supposed to be coming out to theaters
or video anytime soon? Does anyone know what Steve's next film will be?
In the movie "Airheads," what that Steve's real hair?

Subject: "Donny" page
Hi everyone,
I found a pretty cool Big Lebowski site. Anyway, here is the address for the
page on Donny (Steve Buscemi). It has an interview to download and stuff.
http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Boulevard/9284/lebowski.htm
I didn't realize that the last address I sent above about the donny page
doesn't take you right to the donny page. It takes you to the Big Lebowski
page, then click on main features which will take you to a list of the cast,
then click steve's name. Sorry about that.
