Subject: L.A. Law/Drew Carey/articles/Armageddon Video Stand
Hi All,
I was wondering if someone could answer a couple of questions of mine.
I'm sure someone will know this easily:
- - L.A. Law is now on the Prime channel here in Toronto at 3:00 pm.
Could anyone let me know either the episode name and/or season that
Steve appeared in? I know it was in 1986, but I don't know what season
that was for the show.
- - Also, The Drew Carey Show is on syndication here every day at 5:30. I
think Steve's appearance is in the first season. Can anyone let me know
if I'm right? I would particularly love to see that episode.
I haven't seen any new articles on Steve lately, but will for sure keep
looking. I found out that I missed one of the newspaper articles from
when Steve was here in Toronto for The Impostors. I'll try to get it as
soon as I can. It's a bit outdated, but should be some pleasant reading
for anyone that's interested.
There's also a gorgeous picture of Steve on the side of the Armageddon
video tape display stand at Walmart (some people on the list I'm sure
are laughing right now at me mentioning this - yes, I'm still tempted on
sneaking out with it *grin*) I don't know if all Walmarts have it or
not, but it is quite nice, if anyone wants to check it out. I'm trying
to figure out a way to get my hands on it (legally, that is).
Bye for now, and thanks!
Eileen.

The name of the episode is "Spleen it to Me, Lucy." I have the original
air date on my page of tv shows.

Hey there, I have that display!!!! I got to keep it, they gave it to me at
work, they all know what a huge Steve fan I am!!! Most stores just throw
those displays out so ask for it, however usually an employee has already
claimed it ages ago. (No I don't work at Wal-mart so check all kinds of
stores.)

Wo, the show's been on since 1995! I just saw Steve in it this year. You got
me curious, though, so I looked it up on the International Movie Database.
They show Steve in ep. # 3.15 ("Mr. Louder's Birthday Party") on 1/28/98 as
Mr. Marchetti. So that's 3rd season, 15th ep., I think, and it looks like
they've begun the 4th already. I'll be keeping an eye out for it myself
because he caught me with an empty VCR and I nearly jumped outa my sox.

Hi all,
Just a note to let everyone know that I've finally added some new
pictures to the Steve Buscemi Worship Page, including some
never-before-seen (on the 'net, anyhow!) pics from the following movies:
Airheads
Ed and His Dead Mother
Billy Bathgate
Twenty Bucks
Zandalee
More pics will be coming soon. I've been home sick for two days;
that's the only reason I've had any time to even put these babies
online. :)
Enjoy!

Since it was an Armageddeon poster that Steve was on, my guess is that it
is lisensed and stores will not usually hand over lisensed materials.
You'd probably have to contact the film company.

the characters on each card has a title) is "The Friend." Decks are very
rare, but probably available in some random shops in Hollywood. I got mine
through one of my father's movie reviewer friend.

I just found out that "Big Daddy" is a comedy that stars Adam Sandler.
Once again Steve is in a comedy with him & not being credited so far
(ala Billy Madison & The Wedding Singer). It's set to open in theaters
on June 25, 1999. Steve plays a homeless man & since he's being
uncredited, I'm sorry to say it must be a small part.

Subject: auto'd piccys
I was reading through the archives and noticed a question about the
authenticity of Steve's autograph on a fan club pic. If you want a GENUINE
auto'd pic, complete with a certificate of authenticity, you've gotta order
one. I've got one from the set of Armegeddon that cost about $20, ordered
from an ad in a sci-fi mag. Steve's auto'd pics are pretty affordable right
now, so grab 'em while you can!!! Some are over $100 now. Anyway, the pic I
got is pretty cool, full color close-up on Steve in his orange astronaut suit.
The certificate of authenticity reads "This document certifies that the
signature corresponding with the certificate number below has been inspected
by an examiner from Truly Unique Collectibles, Inc. After an extensive
examination, it is our professional opinion that the accompanying item is
authentic based upon the parameters of genuine known exemplars for this
particular signature. If, at any time, this item is proven to be other than
as represented, we will offer an immediate replacement or refund of the
purchase price, which shall be the purchaser's sole remedy of claim." Then
there is a certification number. I've also seen Steve's auto that someone
scanned onto a website, and this looks exactly like it. Anyway, with this
certificate of authenticity, I've got a real collectible that is worth
something to other collectors, and I expect the price to go up as Steve's
career grows. If you want a real auto'd pic, go buy one!!! I love mine.

Take heart, it took about a month or so before I got my "auto'd" pic
back. You'll probably get it pretty soon. You should also keep in mind
how heavy the mail traffic is during the holiday season. Another
thought is that Steve may not be in a big hurry to answer his fan
letters this close to the holidays -- he probably has last minute
Christmas shopping to do just like everybody else!
And, the letter that I sent him was also about a half page long.

Hey, don't worry, I wrote Steve a tiny paragraph of a letter and it took him
about 3 months to reply! IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT! Especially BECAUSE it had
taken so long! I found the manila envelope and had no idea what it was and
even after I saw the autograph (which matches the archives autograph pic) it
took me a minute to even remember I wrote to him! It was great! A complete
surprise! Hurray!

I'd give them another 4 weeks, ok? Don't feel bad, they truly do get swamped
with mail and there's probably a small office handling it, and they have to
sort out the weirdo stuff and probably keep some kind of data on who they send
fan material out to. I look at it like this-- the longer it takes, the more
attention Steve is getting from the general audience, right? That's a GOOD
thing. I'm sure somebody there is keeping some kind of stats on how much mail
he's getting, which has probably grown exponentially in the last year. Once
it gets too overwhelming, they'll expand the office and get more staff. And
once it gets that overwhelming, you'll have to pay full price just for a black
and white photo... So cheer up!!!! It'll reach you.

Subject: Autographs
Hi Everyone,
I've been reading all of the messages about autographs, and I'm still left
wondering what makes an autograph so special. Do I have my own autograph
of Steve? Yes. However, I did not send away for it, nor did I buy it.
It was given as a gift.
Perhaps I've been influenced by Bruce (Army of Darkness, Herc/Xena)
Campbell's own commentary on why he no longer gives autographs. The main
point of what Campbell says is that there is nothing that makes his
autograph more special than anyone else's.
Personally, I would rather write a good letter to Steve and know that he
read it himself.
I'm not condemning anyone for wanting an autograph. Again, I'm just
curious what makes the autograph so special to those of you that want it.

Actually, I got mine for a birthday present, so I didn't have to put out the
$20. I don't own ANY other item that is autographed, and I'm not a big
collector, have never been to ebay, etc. But it was so COOL holding a pic
that Steve himself touched, you can bet I danced around the room, the coolest
surprise I've gotten in a long time. As for Bruce, I'm a huge Ren Pics fan
from way back, and he's cool enough to run his own website and respond to
questions when he's got the time, but how many celebrities DO that? There is
a whole market that revolves around autographs, as any sports fan can tell
you, so yeah, some people use it to make a lot of money. I personally think
that if someone is going to write to Steve for an auto'd pic and then wonder
if it's signed by an employee, then you may as well spend the $20 and get the
real thing. Anybody can download pics off the internet or scour them out of
magazines. Steve's in 'the biz', this is partly what the biz is all about,
generating money, otherwise there wouldn't be this biz. Frankly, it's kind of
a ripoff to Steve that ANYONE can download info and pics about him for free
like his person is public domain, but that's what a general audience is all
about, right? I heard he had his face on an ad taken off a graffiti wall in
New York or something. Everybody wants a piece of Steve, like a movie poster
or a video tape or a sound wav or a website. What's the diff if we raise
Steve's professional status if we are willing to PAY for his autograph? I
would hardly feel comfortable demanding it for free. Unless I were on a movie
set and got the chance to gush all over him and kiss his feet and the only way
he could scrape me off was by signing something.... Then there'd be a chase
scene like Tommy running away in Trees Lounge, haha.

Good question! I've wondered that myself! I suppose it's mroe the fact that
the celebrity has acknowledged the fact taht you think they're tops and send
back a trinket to remember them by, then the fact taht all it is is just soem
marker on a photo. The autograph is something that the person has "created"
to show thier apretiation. I would be happier if I reseaved a written thank
you note, but a "Ed, All the best, Steve Buscemi" is good enough for me. That
doesn't seeem to clear to me after rereading this paragraph, does anyone else
know what I mean and want to expand on it?

Subject: Autograph alternative?
Hi. I like this idea of receiving something a famous person has
"created". I live in Brisbane, Australia and have not put in an
"order" :) for Steve's autograph.
Hypotheticaly now, would anyone prefer to receive a pressed/preserved
flower from a collection Steve had specially pressed for fans that wrote
in or go with the traditional aurographed photo?
Some famous people donate their time and image to charitable causes.
Example, Audrey Hepburn and the Red Cross. I don't know if Steve does
anything like that, or would, but would anyone here donate money to a
charity Steve "endorsed" purely because he, through the media of a
cathode ray tube or other transmitter, asked you to?
I'm interested to hear what you think about these questions. Take care
and I wish everyone a Merry Christmas.
Rochelle.
