Hi All,

Great to hear that The Impostors is in the Top 10! Around here, critics
are saying that Armageddon is one of the worst of the year. #1 worst in
one magazine. Grrrrrr.
Has anyone heard when roughly The Impostors is coming to video?

Happy New Year,
Eileen.

Hi everyone! I'm so happy. I went to a friend's house last night, and I
was talking about Steve and her mom stopped us. She said that a long time
patient (at the dentist's office where she works) of hers is writing a
screenplay with Steve Buscemi. He was in town a couple of months ago. She
said she'll get more information for me. I was so happy I was tearing up.

Also, The Imposters aren't here yet, but I keep seeing ads. It's
bothering me a whole lot!

Love,

Hi All,

I was dragged to Wal-mart the other day, and since I was bored, I
wandered around the entertainment section. I didn't know they have
their own free entertainment magazine called Profile On Entertainment.
There's a tiny picture on the cover of Steve from Armageddon, but the
interesting thing is inside..... There's a blurb about The Wedding
Singer.

It says: "When the drunken, rowdy best man in a pink frilly shirt
(Steve Buscemi) almost disrupts his brother's wedding, it's the wedding
singer (Adam Sandler) who rescues the occasion from the brink of
disaster."

It goes on from there, but I find it cool that Adam and Steve's names
are the only names mentioned for the movie. Just a few short scenes
have given him such a high billing! It shows how much he stole the
show!

I just thought this was cool.

Bye for now,
Eileen.

If anyone has time, please go to www.ebay.com - type in Steve Buscemi -
click on "search" - and click on the "Steve Buscemi color autographed
picture" (I believe its the 4th or 5th item on sale there) - go to the
description and tell me if thats a picture of Steve. It sure looks like
Gary Sinise to me...I wrote the seller of this picture and he emailed me
back and assured me it is Steve. I'm not sure.

I took a look at the picture you mentioned, and it is definitely one of
Steve from Armageddon. What I don't trust is the autograph. Something
just didn't seem right (like I couldn't figure out the complete "B").

Just my opinion.

I've got an auto'd pic of Steve from the Armegeddon set, and you CAN'T read
his signature at all EXCEPT for the S and the B. I've also seen the same
signature scanned onto a website, and mine came with a certificate of
authenticity. The rest is a slash of lines, like after the S looks like an L
(supposed to stand for Steve, I guess), and after the B is just a flat out
straight line with a dot over it for the i somewhere in there. I guess if you
have to write your name a thousand times, you figure out a way to make it
easy...

hi everyone....

i've all the sudden fell in love with steve last week.

why? must be the bug eyes, or the bad teeth...... just kidding.

i think it all started when i saw armmagedon couple months ago. i was
interested in him as an actor (the only comic relief in that movie). later
on i saw "fargo" (yes, i waited till now to watch this good flick). as
sleazy as he were in these 2 movies, i started to like to him. then new
years weekend i saw "trees lounge" in the store, and thought it
interesting, since he wrote and directed it. that was when i fell in love
with him. so so far, i've experienced "parting glances", "in the soup",
"Airheads", and "dead man". although i'm not sure if that's him in the
movie.

so that's my story.

my question is, does anyone know what he's like in person, in real life?

I too have an autographed photo of him, and I'm not arguing that the "S"
and the "B" are the only legible letters in the autograph. What I am
arguing is that I was unable to figure out the "B" in the photo that was
up for auction on EBay. To me, it looked like nothing more than a
straight line down. This is why I had a problem with the signature. It
had nothing to do with the fact that the rest of it was just a line after
the initial letters.

Hi! Madly in love, eh? I married a guy who Steve looks like, so don't go on
with the bug-eyed stuff, haha. What's REALLY funny is watching mine eat
Mexican food and his eyes get real bright and water... Anyway, back to Steve.
The guy is obviously a work-a-holic, has been in over 50 movies, directed 3
that I know of, wrote at least one of those. Has a wife and kid. I hear he
was a New York fireman at one time. I saw a pic of him on a wrestling team in
high school. I personally wonder if he's got a higher than average IQ since
he's so verbal and mentally on the ball. I also know that NOBODY seems to
know for a fact just how tall the guy is... haha. Anything else? Um, he's
over 40. Somebody help me out here.

Hi Everyone

this is a URL for Mr Pink .wav files:

http://www.tiac.net/users/oclv52/Mrpink.html#pinkfate

And this is a URL for a collection of sounds from various Buscemi
movies. Although there are only 3 Fargo files:

http://utility.mrshowbiz.go.com/cgi/celebsite/ext.pl?u=http://dancy.franz.com/~virago/buscemi/&p=stevebuscemi

Both URL's worked yesterday when I tested them... but if the 2nd one
doesn't work go and rouse on Mr Showbiz... and there are probably some
double ups with the Reservoir Dog sounds. Oh well.

Hope that helps you out Lindsey.

I'm still waiting for The Imposters to be released in Australia. Ho
hum.

Take care

I like my privacy, but I don't mind sharing a little. You have to remember
that the archives, though, are public, so I don't want personal info about
where I live in there. I've already had a weird person from a totally
different list for a different celebrity show up and camp on my couch for
days, much to my irritation, so I've gotten pretty gunshy about telling people
all about myself.

I understand the idea of not wanting people to have public information
posted on the internet. Because of this, I do edit the archives (ie-
remove personal information) when asked. I even do this long after the
archives have been posted, as one member of the list can attest to. Do
not think that the archives are just thrown onto my website without
anything done to them. The biggest change that they undergo regularly
before being posted is the removal of the email address after the @
symbol. What's the point of this message? It's that I'm not an evil
dictator who doesn't understand the desire to have things remain private
to the rest of the 'net world. So, feel free to write to the list
whatever may be asked, and then just ask me to edit out what needs to be
edited from the archives.

And, speaking of archives, they will be a little later getting up because
of the fact that my entire computer crashed and I can't access the
appropriate operating system. As soon as it's available, I'll put them
up.

Hey. A long while ago I rented "Trees Lounge" just because it

Independent films I'm almost always disappointed. Well, I watched the
video before the movie, you know, with Hayden. Which I thought was a
very cool and different song and video, it almost made me depressed.
Anyways, I watched it and .....well, I don't know. I thought it was
good but at the same time it was pointless. It's just like the saying
on the cover of the video.

Well, just like the person who saw "In the soup", I just would like to

Subject: trees lounge and in the soup

I saw trees lounge and in the soup in the same week.... i thought them both
to be pretty good. i think that's the thing with indie films, they usually
don't have all the action and drama you expect from hollywood big buget
movies. i guess "quaint" is the word. it's more close to real life, which
could be pointless to a certain extent (in regards to real life). i liked
his character in in the soup, i guess because it's interesting to see him
play a role that's not slimmy, smart ass, crude...... not that i don't like
it when he plays roles with those quality (sometimes i find it very
attractive when he's like that). but it was sorta nice to see him as a
regular guy.

i heard trees lounge was kinda close to his real life experience. the bar
was a real bar he used to frequent, he did drive an ice cream truck for a
couple of summers, and i think the town it was filmed in was actually his
home town. there's an article/ interview i read which he talks about trees
lounge, amonst other stuff...... can't remember which site off of the
internet i saw it. although you can probably find it pretty easily.
hey "scotty", if you liked the Hyden song, you might like Dinasour Jr.
hyden really reminds him of that group..... i'm even wondering if he's
actually the lead singer....

You are talking to the biggest Trees Lounge fan on the planet. I came into
the movie with a sociology degree and a marriage into a dry alcoholic family,
so the film blew ME away. I had never had any experience with alcohol and
what it can do to relationships because no one in my own family ever drank.
There are so many things to look at in this film, the main thing being whose
FAULT is this? It pretty much looks like Tommy is a loser, and yeah, at this
point he is. But how the heck did he get there? The subtle nuances
throughout the movie suggesting that Tommy's girlfriend dumped him and is
carrying HIS child and won't admit either way whose it is, well, that's a
pretty hard hit to take, especially after you find out Tommy's best friend is
the one she dumped him for. Yeah, maybe Tommy was a jerk, BUT, yeah, she's
silently rubbing his face in it. The foreshadowing of Bill and Tommy
*becoming* Bill was fabulous, the song in the background, etc. You figure out
at the end that Bill was, in effect, a Tommy years ago. I felt incredibly
sorry for Connie, having to make a living babysitting a bunch of drunks, what
a nowhere life that is!!! Tommy tries so hard, too, he's a nice guy, but
still he's empty inside and hasn't quite put it all together that he's the one
creating the path he's taking, playing the line between sour feelings all
around him. I've met people like this, but I have a unique experience that
really made the light bulb come on for me in this movie. I'm raising the
daughter of an alcoholic woman, she's my full-time step. The first few years
it was hard, and I was cranky that her mom didn't seem interested enough in
HAVING a daughter and seemed to fall on her face at every turn, and anyone who
knows a full-blown alcoholic knows what I'm saying. It's hard being the
safety net for someone else who is causing so many problems for other people.
But when I saw Trees Lounge, this light bulb popped on and suddenly I saw her
there in Tommy's chair-- suddenly I saw her from the inside, knowing that SHE
knew she'd screwed up, knowing that she woke up every single day facing that,
knowing that if I were in her shoes I might not even have the guts to keep
getting out of bed and admitting to the world with my presence that I'd
screwed up, and it HIT me, that somewhere, somebody has to say it's ok now.
Tommy's ex-girlfriend SHOULD have told him outright whether or not it was his
baby, NOT use the withholding of information to make him pay for losing her,
which might have cost her the safety of her relationship with Tommy's best
friend. Maybe Tommy is the jerk here, but so is she. And so am I. Every
time I gripe about my step daughter's mother falling on her face, *I* make it
worse. After I saw that movie, I seemed to be over a hump or something, and
suddenly it was ok to talk to this woman that was before the bane of my
existence (anyone with an ex like this in their marriage will understand). I
was the one continuing to make it her fault long after she'd messed up. It's
EASY to blame alcoholics over and over like that. I'd never before thought
what it must look like from that point of view until I saw Tommy sitting on
that barstool struggling with where to go from here with his life. If I had
no hope like that, where would I be? If I'd lost MY best friend AND my lover
AND a child I thought was mine AND my job (lost due to a bad decision probably
borne out of grief in the first place, but that was never really brought out),
would I have the guts to face it every day without a shot of whiskey for
breakfast? So many people somehow make it in this world without any real
hope. I really got my knuckles wrapped with that movie, and it's my all-time
favorite movie in the world because it said so MUCH so gracefully, without
wringing it to death. It was brilliantly written, very real, patiently
filmed, and I could go on all day. I hope someday to write something that
well! And did you notice there was more than one Buscemi in the film?

I believe that Steve's first film was called THE WAY IT IS or EURYDICE
IN THE AVENUES (or something like that). I once read a Steve interview
where he said that it was filmed without sound and they had to add the
dialogue later. I *think* it made it 1984.

Aldolpho Rollo (IN THE SOUP) and Tommy Basilio (sp?) (TREES LOUNGE)
are tied for my favorite Steve character.
