I really liked Fargo, b/c it was such a "Steve-ish" role that really made
me laugh. It was especially funny, and I was really cheering for Steve.
Also, it was one of the first Steve movies I ever saw.

Ed in Ed's Dead Mother, b/c he was so sweet and innocent that it was
adorable, and he did a great acting job.

His charisma I guess, and his amazing eyes too.

It was great, even though I really didn't think about the fact that he
directed it, since he was in it.

Both I guess. He seems to be handling it well.

It probably began w/Fargo, and then he really stole my heart in Armageddon.

Subject: Steve Immortalized in Song...Again

Hi all,
I was listening to the radio on the way home from work yesterday and I heard
this song, I think it's called "She Likes Me for Me."

There's a great line in it that goes:
"She likes me for me,
Not because I hang around with Leonardo
Or that guy from Fargo
I think his name is Steve Buscemi."

(or something like that...I only heard the song once, remember?)
Has anyone else heard it?

Subject: Q of the Day: Who to converse with?

Things have been rather quiet, as I'm sure we've all noticed, so I'm
putting forth a question that I don't recall having seen before.

Q of the Day: If you could have a conversation with any of Steve's
characters, who would you converse with and why?

For myself, there are a few choices, but three of them stand out. The
first is "Nick Spangler" from Parting Glances because he seemed rather
wise. One of my favorite scenes from the movie is when he's talking to the
"kid" in the film on the stairs, trying to give him advice about life.
The second, and I'd have to be in a mood for a good debate, would be
"Gordon Pratt" from Homicide:LotS. Despicable as Pratt was, he was
definitely smart despite his being illiterate. Intelligence is definitely
a plus when I'm speaking to somebody. The third would be "Rockhound" from
Armageddon. Somehow, I can just see myself enjoying a long conversation,
or perhaps lecture is a better term, about geology from this guy. Like
Pratt, Rockhound wasn't always what he appeared to be. Somehow I find
that an intriguing point that could make for an interesting conversation.

Ok, so the reasons are a bit weak at this time (11:45pm). I'll sleep on
it and try and give something more concrete if anyone wants me to.

This is a very good question... I am going to enjoy this one.
read on...

>>Q of the Day: If you could have a conversation with any of Steve's
>>characters, who would you converse with and why?

There are a few responses for me as well:

first: Don't judge me too harshly on this one... I was a psych major
when I was in University. I would love to sit in chat with Garland
"Thar Marietta Mangler" Greene" I would like to get into the head of
a sociopath and see what makes them tick. What got them that way?
Is it nature (genetic) or nurture (the parents fault)? I do love a
criminal mind!

second: I would love to talk to Tommy Basillio. This role I know is
very autobiographical for Steve, so it would be a lot like talking to
Steve himself. YAY! But also I want to talk to this character
because I grew up around people like Tommy. I really worked hard to
get away from such a life-style but now I miss it. Not that I am a
bar-(butter)fly, but I was the type of kid that follewed the parent
or babysitter into the bar in the mid-afternoon and played with the
vending machines, and video machines, snuck sips, and threw peanuts at
the drunks... (parent/babysitter included). I am very relaxed in
such an atmosphere. I haven't beeen in it so I find it nostalgic.
Plus there's the foolosh womanly notion in me that thinks I could
"save" Tommy... or at least have a real good time with him... HEH
HEH!

Third: Rockhound. Completely superficial, I know.: I KNOW there is
a good time to be had with this guy! Plus I totally lust after such
intelligence in a man.

send in your opinions... It has been **too** quiet around here.

Also I have a question... I keep forgetting to ask... In the movie
"Somebody to Love" Steve plays Mickey according to the credits. Yet,
all through the movie, Mercedes (Rosie Perez' character) keeps
calling him "jackie" whats up with that? Is it an error on the part
of the editors or whoever puts together the credits? Just wondering.

I think I'd have a conversation with either Rockhound or Garland Greene from
Con-Air, cuz Rockhound is neat, and Garland sounded really smart, with lots of
insight in the movie. It was really good.

Con-Air is playing on Starz tonight at 10:15. And I think Starz is free

Hi all! I got back from meeting one of my favorite directors (John Waters)
today at a signing and while checking up on hsi films, I saw a photo of the
cement block infront of the Senetar theater. It was for the film DIVIE TRASH
and Steve Buscemi's autograph was signed in the cement under the title! I
knwo Divine died in 88 and this film was in 97, so what is this film about and
what is Mr. Buscemi's role in it? I also heard that if there ever was a John
Waters biographic film, Steve woudl play John! They can look pretty similar
too..."cept John Waters is very very tall. Well, I think it would eb funny if
in John Waters' next film Steve appeared in a cameo for a second, btu he would
play John Waters! Oh, well, that is just some dream..hhehhehe...well, adios!

Subject: conversations with characters

What a great question!

I would have to say that my first choice would be Rockhound from
Armageddon. Since Rockhound completely stole my heart, I'm sure that
this is a little biased, but oh well! A very attractive, horny and
intelligent man to have a conversation with? Who could ask for more?
*grin* Seriously, I think he would be quite a lot of fun to be with
from his sense of humour and would have a lot of interesting things to
say. My personality matches his quite closely, so I think we would get
along great together.

My second choice is Garland Green (yes, I know it's strange, but I don't
seem to be the only one here who thinks this, so I feel better). I
would love to delve into his criminal mind, plus, I think he would have
a lot of intelligent things to say.

Another character that I would love to hear speak in some sort of
conversation would be Mr. Shhh. I'm sure he'd have a lot to say, if
anyone could get it out of him! However, I can see me getting along
quite well with Rex from Airheads with his sense of humour.

Well, that's all I can think of for now.
Looking forward to reading more opinions......

Eileen.

Subject: Re: Q of the Day: Who to converse with?

i've been really taking my time with this question... so hard to decide,
because i want to talk to all of them! with the limited amount of steve
movies i've seen, i would say tommy from "trees lounge". i think he really
needed to have someone to talk to in that movie. maybe if he had a good
friend in that movie that would listen and spend time to talk to him, he
wouldn't feel so bad about his life (not that i'm saying he has a great
life).

second choice would be aldolfo from "in the soup". i like the silliness of
this guy. very cute, shy and naive. you know he would do nice things for
you if he were your friend..... oh, wait a second, i guess the question is
not being a friend, but to have conversation.... shucks.

next would be rockhound - total opposit of aldolfo, but charming in it's
own way. you know you would never have a dull moment with this guy. and i
agree, to be with a guy that's attractive and horny, hell yeah!

i can think of many more, even mr. pink wouldn't be bad to talk to because
you know he'll say things that'll make your eyes pop out (the tipping
issue?). nick from LIO, what is he like outside of his job? donny, ed, etc.
etc....

Subject: New Question of the day... anyone? (writing a role)

Not that I am bored with the most recent one... I so enjoy reading
everyones responses. But I have one that is eating away at me...

You must all know about the Steve Buscemi Game (if not follow the
link)... http://ear1.psyc.wisc.edu/buscemi/game.htm

I think that Steve doesn't get half the recognition that he deserves,
because there is a human predisposition to admire the lead role,
especially if he/she is romantic, loving or heroic. These roles,
Steve just plain doesn't get the offers for. Whoever's out there
writing scripts ISN'T thinking about Steve's potentiality.

So I thought, we could brainstorm some simple plots and write a
paragraph or so of a plot and role we would love to see Steve in.

If one is really good we can embellish it and perhaps Steve or
someone in show biz... or some really ambitious person here can
produce it? I know: pipe dreams...

So heres my plot idea.

Steve (his character) is a happily married-family man...who is also
pretty successful. He has a loving wife and kids etc...
But then... Some psycho kidnaps his children for a ransom, and Steve's character is the hero, and saves his
kids, seeks a perfect revenge on the "wrong-doers", and makes his
wife (played by me... HEH HEH) really happy... to which she shows her
gratitude in a most loving manner... and alls well again...

Steve is mild-mannered in this yet when someone does him wrong...
well think of how tough Mr. Pink was ("If they him, they can get you,
they get you, they get closer to me, AND THAT CAN'T HAPPEN!!")
with a splash of Bruce Willis' type of demeanor in "Die
Hard". Nobody messes with his family!

Ok well I started this but I will embellish later if need be...
But I would love to hear others idea of COOL roles, (use your
imaginations--that's where this differs from the Steve Buscemi Game)
Steve can be in that is more out of the typecast mould he is stuck
in. As we can see from the movie "Armageddon" (where he is a quasi-
hero) that he IS a versatile actor and needs other roles... even if
it is his fans imaginations at work... Who knows maybe we can get
some casting agent/screenwright to look at it and maybe they will
realize!

Ok nuff said...

Hope you have fun with this one...

If not... send flames to: bgates@microsoft.com (hee hee...)

Greetings!

Was it suggested that the plot f a Buscemi/kidnapping movie might have a
plot unlike Ransom, or that the plot of Ransom was lame?

Actually, I liked Ransom, and it starred the multi-talented and
underrated (like Steve) Gary Sinise. (I thought he should have won the
Oscar for Forrest Gump. Landeau was good in Ed Wood, but I'm not sure
he was as good as Sinise.)

Well. that's my two cents worth. Also, the Steve character with whom
I'd most like to have a conversation is Danny McGrath from Billy
Madison. What a weirdo! And yet, he saves the day.

I've been thinking on this for quite a while, obviously, and the
characters of Steve's that I'd most like to talk to are Tommy Basillo,
from Trees Lounge, his character in Desperado, and Rockhound from
Armageddon.

Tommy, although he wasn't always very bright, did have some deep,
philosophical comments His character in Desperado (which I haven't seen
all of yet) seemed pretty straight-forward and street savvy. Rockhound,
of course, was a genius. I wouldn't mind sitting down with any or all of
them at a bar, Trees Lounge, preferably, and just talk about anything
and everything.

As for the question about what role/movie I'd like to see Steve in,
well, I think he'd make an interesting Grey Mouser, from the fantasy
series written by Fritz Lieber. I'd also like to see him in an
old-fashioned Western. I think he'd make a great cowboy.

The only problem I have with the cowboy idea is that he's not very good at
accents. (It's the one thing that keeps him from being a true chameleon,
imnsho.) I've seen him as a cowboy in The Last Outlaw and (though not
necessarily a cowboy) in Lonesome Dove, and his accent was lacking in
both. Granted there may have been some cowboys that had New York accents,
I personally always think of them as having a Texan/Oklahoman drawl to
them. Yes, I realize this is a stereotype, but it's one that has pervaded
the American film industry for all of my life.

As for what role I'd really like to see him play, that would easily be a
father or a brother in charge of a sibling. As much as I like seeing him
play these psychotic characters, it's always the quiet dramatic characters
that I like best.

If I were doing a movie based on a book, I'd cast him as the reporter from
New York who's the first to go into the Pacific Northwest since it's
seccession from the United States. The book is called Ecotopia and is
written by Ernest Callenbach.

If I were doing a tv show or movie from my own imagination, well, I can't
tell that as anyone can then steal the idea. :-P

Um, well Steve rapes a woman in the film Heart of Midnight and it was one of
the hardest scenes for me to watch him do. I didn't enjoy watching him rape
someone it was real chilling. I guess I just don't enjoy watching anyone get
raped, I can handle killings in the movies and I love gory movies but rapes

production notes, cast and crew bios (not very informative. steve's was
kinda short) and theatrical trailer. and of course, it's digitally

english, frence, and spanish. cool thing about DVDs are, you can directly
get access to sections of movies without fastforwarding. like jumping to

Talking about the last Fargo question, if I remember correctly, when
Steve's character is back at the parking lot and he gets shot, he then
kills the ticket attendant when leaving. Does anyone remember if it's
the same ticket attendant that was in the earlier scene? I'm presuming
it's the same parking lot, but it's been a while since I've seen it, so
I could be wrong.

I'm still trying to think of some roles that I'd like to Steve play. I
agree that I don't think I want to see him playing a rapist. Although
I'm sure he'd do a good performance, it's hard to picture. I too would
like to see him in some more heroic roles of some sort.

As far as the new question of today.........
The characteristic that I would love to have more of from his
character's personalities is his sarcasm and wit. I'd love to be able to
use it against some of the people that I'm not fond of in life.*grin*
The significant other is a hard one..........
Probably Rockhound - he'd be so interesting (if he could stay
monogamous). Aldolpho and Ed would be sweet, but I think I like
Rockhound's personality a bit more.
Great question! :o)

I saw an interview the other week with Roy Schneider(sp?), and he said
that Big Daddy is coming out in June and that he has a role as well in
