I'm married to a Mr. Pink, haha. I know what you mean. If Steve gets 'big',
he'll be a 'Hollywood hobnobber'. If his mannerisms become a cult credo, then
he 'belongs' to anyone riding the fashion train, not just to people who
honestly identify with him for real reasons. I kinda felt that way about Van
Halen once they got so huge that it was ok to be seen in floweredy spandex or
whatever. They're fighting that image now... haha. I heard that Steve's face
was on a bus or a wall or somewhere in New York, don't know if it was an
advertisement or what, but it wound up with graffiti on it and Steve called up
the city and made them take his face off. Don't know if it's true.

I just logged on today, after not having played in months, mostly
because I can't during work, and the first game of Picturama I get into
has Steve as the answer. Of course the game is almost done by the time I
get into it, but I thought it was cool that he was one of the puzzles.
I'm not sure what movie it was from, as the answer didn't completely
fill in, in my browser, but it neat anyways.

Subject: sliminess/In the Soup/fav role/Not the Hobnobber type?

Hi All,

Hey Yvonne, I only speak for myself, of course, but I think part of the
attraction to Rockhound is his 'sliminess' for lack of a better word.
;o) It's the slight bad-boy thing - same with Mr. Pink! Although
Steve was great in Parting Glances, I personally don't find it to be one
of my favourite roles. I missed Steve on Saturday Night Live last year
and only saw the last half hour! If anyone has an idea how to get hold
of it, I'm interested in finding out as well. Otherwise, I guess I'll
just keep an eye out for those repeats......... If anyone goes to one of
the SNL sites, there's a list of all episodes in order with their date
and host from the beginning of the show until now, if that helps at all.

Jennifer: I found a lot of scenes in In The Soup funny,
actually. But I agree with you about Beals being annoying. Perhaps
it's because Steve stars in it that makes it so enjoyable to watch?
Although it's a silly movie, I recommend you try to see Steve in another
starring role in Ed & His Dead Mother, if you haven't already. He's
both funny and adorable in it!

Scotty: My favourite roles of Steve's in movies are Rockhound, Mr.
Pink, and Happy Franks.

I just read an article that was e-mailed to me the other week, and I
doubt that Steve will ever become a 'Hollywood hobnobber' from what I
read. He says he doesn't really feel comfortable doing big-budget films
or photo shoots, and doesn't enjoy the big Hollywood parties all that
much. He says he's happier being in New York. He also said he likes
working on independent films because the actors and directors are more
like a family to him.

Well, sorry for all the rambling..... I've been quite behind for a few
days now!
Eileen.

howdy guys! quick question. i've been looking around the internet for
"trees lounge" video, and so far the prices have been $89.99 and $100.99!
is it because it was produced by an non major studio, hence the high price?
does anyone know a cheaper source?

Hey,
I would have to say that my favorite Steve roles are Rockhound from
Armageddon and Garland from Con Air. I pretty much love all of his
roles(of course) but I think those are the best. I haven't seen all of
his movies, though. My answer could change!

well, this is the first message I've written on this list...
I'm not really sure if this applies to "Trees Lounge" but when
movies first come out on video they usually cost $100 (I don't know who
buys movies at these prices), but if you wait a few months you can
probably find it at a cheaper price.

(My personal favorite Steve movies are "Parting Glances" and
"Living in Oblivion")

Based on looks alone, I'd have to go with Con Air and Ed and His Dead Mother.

For favorite movies, I'd have to go with Fargo, Reservoir Dogs, Barton Fink,
The Hudsucker Proxy, and Pulp Fiction.

Favorite roles? Happy Franks in the Impostors, Garland Greene in Con Air,
and, of course, Mr. Pink in Reservior Dogs.

And to anyone who gazes upon Steve's face and is instantly swept away in a
Peppermint Pattie like euphoria......you HAVE to see Ed and His Dead Mother.
Stupid movie, but if you're too busy drooling over Steve, who cares????? He
looks HOT in this one -- and he gets it on, too! (Note: Not really a spoiler
as it happens fairly early on and the plot isn't all that great anyway).

Look forward to reading your responses....

wow, i haven't seen "ed and his dead mother", but i thought steve looked
pretty good in "in the soup". especially funny is the scene where he gets
out of the tub to answer the door with rushed on pants, and then they start
to fall off slowly, mooning the audience..... it was more funny than sexy,
i thought, but very cute.
so he looked good in con air? well, guess i have to rent that one (among
all these others i need to)

Subject: Hello/Fav. Role

Hello all. This is my first post to the list and I just wanted to start by
saying Hi. I have loved Steve and his acting since Reservoir Dogs. I just
think he's great. Who else could pull off that unique (albeit attractive,
but certainly unique) look with such class? My roommates aren't realy happy
with me ever since I put up a gigantic vinyl movie poster of Steve from
Armageddon...we're talking a like 3 feet by 6 feet banner. We had to put it
on our ceiling b/c there was not enough room on any of the walls! :-)

Anyway, I would have to say for out and out good acting, I am still partial
to Mr Pink from Reservoir Dogs.

For looks alone (even though I cant help but think that this is pretty
shallow discussion, but oh well..I'm only human! :-) ), I would have to say
check out Living in Oblivion. Hes got longer hair and a goatee and as far as
I'm concerned looks pretty damn good.

Trees Lounge I thought was an amazing movie and its a shame it wasn't better
appreciated. The characters are so well done. You really feel for him.

I think it's partly the coat. As for shallow, I went out of my way to
post indepth introspect a couple of times and nobody really responds to
that much. If I get another mood coming on, you'll see anti-shallow...

C'mon, Amy! I LOVED Trees Lounge, but I'm not going to rewrite my stuff
about it, it's in the archives. If you feel like a real discussion, I'm
ready! What did you think was particularly amazing about it? If I start

I have to agree with this one. When I saw Con Air, I immediately remembered
Steve from Ed and His Dead Mother. I like his looks because I think
expression is what makes people attractive, and I really did not associate
him as the actor in Twenty Dollars or Airheads (I just don't like the
stringy long hair and hateful roles). I saw a little of Living in Oblivion,
but have not finished it. I like his clean cut look much much much better.

As for acting, I like the soft-spoken roles like Garland Greene in Con Air.
When I saw who was playing this role, it was funny to see someone so small
and so dangerous.

I have not seen any of the others, except Trees Lounge and The Wedding
Singer (icky hair).

When my husband sees him on the tv, he says, "Oh, that's that weird guy",
but he hasn't mentioned how many TIMES he's seen him on the tv.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is Trees Lounge a real place in
Brooklyn?

There're a little place on Grant street in San Francisco called Show Biz the
Memorabilia Store and I saw a Rockhound poster there in early December for
only $30. I didn't get it, and I don't know if it's still there, but there
might be a few in the poster shops around you. You have a BIG advantage if
you live near Hollywood. They have everything imaginable there.

Trees Lounge was an actual bar in Valley Stream where Steve grew up from
the age of 8. When the place closed, Steve grabbed the sign. Later on,
the former owner of the bar asked for the sign, and Steve was kind enough
to give it back.

As for having a "BIG" advantage by living near Hollywood, I'd have to
disagree. You can probably get more stuff from Rick's Movie Graphics than
from any place in the Hollywood area. There is only one real decent store
in the Hollywood region that I've been to. It's called Hollywood Book and
Poster Co. They have a bunch of slides from different films, and they'll
turn them into 8x10 prints for ~$5. I got two from Trees Lounge, one from
a photo shoot for the movie (?), and one from Ed and His Dead Mother.
