Lured by the bright lights, Gallen Lo started out on the well-trodden path of typical acting career. In 1984, he signed up for a singing competition  - he was unplaced - but caught the attention of an artiste manager of the Hong Kong's ATV station. Even after joining the rival station TVB in 1986, roles like the sweet-natured Sai Di  in the immensely popular family drama, Season, got him nowhere. Not until Lo donned his villainous, cold-blooded persona in series like Cold Blood Warm Heart and the Vengeance did the viewing public sit up and take the collective notice.
