Steve Buscemi is often known as the oddball, or "that funny-looking guy."  Although not everyone knows his name, once I mention a character that he has played, such as Mr. Pink in Reservoir Dogs, Rockhound in Armageddon, or Garland Greene in Con Air, most people say, "Oh, I remember him.  He's cool".

I discovered the world of independent films after looking for movies by Steve.  And Steve has made a lot of them!  Some more easily found include Living In Oblivion, In The Soup, and Trees Lounge (which he wrote, directed, and starred in).  He has appeared in over 50 films and is now following another interest ~ taking the director's chair.

Steve was born on December 13, 1957 in Brooklyn, New York.  He became interested in theatre while attending Valley Stream Central High School.  Steve worked as a New York fireman for four years, and also performed stand-up comedy before deciding to become an actor.  He studied at the Lee Strasburg Institute in Manhattan, and was eventually cast in his first movie as a rock singer with AIDS in Parting Glances.

Along with his acting career, Steve has directed episodes of Homicide: Life on the Street and OZ, and directed commercials for Nike.  I first noticed Steve in an oddball comedy called Airheads and by the time Con Air was released, I was a devoted fan.  Steve lives a very private life in New York with his wife, performance artist/choreographer Jo Andres, and their son, Lucian.
