This is a very complex movie starring RUFUS SEWELL (Cold Comfort Farm), KIEFER SUTHERLAND (A Time To Kill), JENNIFER CONNELLY (Inventing the Abbotts), Richard O'Brien (The Rocky Horror Picture Show) and WILLIAM HURT (Michael), Dark City is a story of mythic proportions about a man's struggle to reclaim destiny.


John Murdoch (Sewell) awakens alone in a hotel only to find that he is wanted for several brutal murders. But there is one catch, he can't remember whether he committed the murders or not. He finds that most of his memories have disappeared, and for a short time, he thinks he has gone mad.

Though he is persued by Detective Bumstead (Hurt), he continues to unravel the twisted tale of his identity. As he becomes closer to the truth, he stumbles upon the underworld controlled by beings collectively known as The Strangers. These dark figures posess the ability to stop time in order to change people's lives. This is called Tuning. Through an evolution twist, Murdoch also has this power to Tune and thus is able to resist The Stranger's mind control. .
And for that, he must be destroyed.

With help from Doctor Schreber (Sutherland), Murdoch is able to stay one step ahead of his enemy as he continues to fit the pieces of his past back together - his bittersweet childhood, his marrage with estranged wife Emma (Connelly) and the murders he was suspected in. Dark City is produced by Andrew Mason and Alex Proyas. Based on a story by Alex Proyas, the screenplay is by Alex Proyas and Lem Dobbs (Kafka) and David S. Goyer (The Crow 2). The film is directed by Alex Proyas.
