The Space Rovers -- "Alondra Discovered -- Part 2" The elderly alien creature looked sadly at the approaching Space Rovers. ELDERLY CREATURE: You've found us! The recent earthquake destroyed our defenses, we are powerless, take what you will, but leave us in peace LAO ZI: It's a good thing these universal translators work! Sir, we're not conquerers, we have no intention of harming any of you or stealing your valuables. ELDERLY CREATURE: I do not believe you, strange furry one, NO ONE has EVER came to us in peace, this is why we came to this small planet, to hide from those who would plunder us! LUIGI (shaking his head): We don't understand this! BOB: I think I can explain! It is a old legend that has been told for ages on Jurrassia about the 'little creatures' of the Alondra Order. It was told that they possess a great, mystical orb and many riches and valuable treasures. Our the centuries, a lot of adventurers and explorers have searched and searched for the Alondra Order, to take all of it's 'power' for themselves. ELDERLY CREATURE: The tall green one speaks the truth. We've been on the run for thousands of years, some have gotten close to finding us. We keep moving, and we've been here on this small world for a long time, hidden by our shroud of invisibility. Now, the shroud no longer functions and our space vessel is hopelessly lost. We are at your mercy, furry ones. CLAUDIA: Wait a minute here, we're the Space Rovers, we help those who are in need! DERBY: That is correct, how may we be of assistance, old fellow? PONCHO: Yeah, we want to be your friends, not your enemies, man! ELDERLY CREATURE: I don't know if my people will trust you, but we have nothing to lose now. Follow me, please. Please step carefully, you are large beings, don't crush our village by mistake. The Space Rovers walk through the village and to the edge of a very large lake. ELDERLY CREATURE: The recent earthquake toppled our space vessel and sent it into this lake. Our divers couldn't find it, perhaps it's fallen too deep to be retreived. We need our space vessel, but there's no way to recover it. LAO ZI: Hmmmmm. I have an idea! Claudia, according to our scans, this lake is filled with earth-type water, I'll bet you could find their ship down there! CLAUDIA (smiling): Exactly what I was thinking, Lao! Claudia begins to remove her uniform in front of everyone, revealing that she's wearing a bathing suit underneath her clothes. SOPHIA (surprised): You wore a bathing suit under your uniform? CLAUDIA (laughing): Hey, I'm a water dog, you never know when my special abilities will come in handy, I'll be right back! Claudia dives into the lake, and stays underwater for thirty minutes. ELDERLY CREATURE (excitied): THAT FEMALE HAS BEEN DOWN THERE A LONG TIME! SHE WILL DROWN, YOU MUST GET HER OUT OF THE LAKE!!! SU LI (going down on one knee and putting her hand on the elder's shoulder): Relax, sir. Claudia knows what she's doing. Claudia surfaces and swims toward the edge of the lake. CLAUDIA: I think I found it, it's at the bottom of the lake. We'd need a crane to get it out of there BOB (smiling): Or a brontosaurus! LAO ZI: That's a great idea! Claudia, you can guide him to it, and he can bring it up here! Bob runs behind a rock formation and removes his uniform, in seconds he starts glowing and transforms into a large brontosaurus. ELDERLY CREATURE (pointing): LOOK! A HIDEOUS MONSTER! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! BOB (thundering voice): Please don't be afraid of me, I'm going to get your spaceship! Bob walks into the lake and then dives, following Claudia to where the Alondran ship is sitting. Bob carefully takes the ship in his huge mouth and returns to the surface, setting it gently down near the place where the others are standing. Deborah hands Claudia a towel as she emerges from the lake. Bob walks slowly behind a rock formation and "shrinks" back down to size. Poncho tosses Bob a towel and his uniform. ELDERLY CREATURE (stunned): I can't believe my EYES! You Space Rovers have salvaged our star vessel! No one has ever done ANY acts of kindness towards we Alondrans! Will you please help us repair our defenses? LAO ZI: Of course we will, sir! Like I stated before, the Space Rovers are here to help! ELDERLY CREATURE: I believe you now! My name is Rowque, and I am the leader of the Alondra Order (pointing towards a high mountain) See it, up there? That shiny object on the mountaintop? That's one of our invisibilty shroud devices, the earthquake has caused damage to it. We must act quickly if we are to keep our existance a secret! It took us almost 30 moons just to climb up to it. Can you Space Rovers perform yet another amazing feat? LAO ZI (smiling): We sure can! This looks like a job for Sophia and Numbia! SOPHIA (happy): YES, I see.... I can fly up there in less than a minute, and carry Numbia with me! NUMBIA (picking up her backpack): And since I'm into maintenence and damage control, I can fix the shrouding device! LAO ZI (turning to Rowque): Rowque, Sophia can also carry one of your people with her. Who among your Order can tell them how to repair the shrouding device? ROWQUE: (shouting): BILWAN! Assist the furry beings! Bilwan emerges from his hiding place, Sophia takes Numbia in her arms and lets Bilwan climb on her back. SOPHIA: Bilwan, hold tight! Numbia, put that backpack of yours in your lap, here we go! Sophia slowly lifts herself off the ground, and then asends towards the top of the mountain. When Sophia "lands" Bilwan and Numbia work together and repair the shrouding device. Bilwan explains that although the device is working, there are two other devices that must be repaired first before the shroud of invisibility can be restored. Sophia quickly 'flys' all of them back down to the surface. ROWQUE: So, once more you Space Rovers have astounded me! NUMBIA: Thank you, Rowque, but Bilwan tells us that there are other components of the shrouding device to repair ROWQUE: You are correct, Numbia, one is located in a cave near our present location, the other is the Orb itself, which is in the village. The cave is very dark, do you furry beings have any torches in those bags of yours? LAO ZI: Well we have some flashlights, but more importantly, we have Derby and his infared vision! Take Numbia with you, Derby, she can fix the device in the cave, the rest of us will return to the village and assist in repairing the Orb! Derby, Numbia and Bilwan enter the cave, dodging flying creatures resembling bats. Derby's "night" vision finds the second device, which had fallen to the cave floor. It looks like the one on the mountain, so Numbia, guilded by Derby's 'eyesight' and Bilwan's advice, repairs it with ease. Meanwhile, in the largest building in the village is the Orb, the Space Rovers have to crawl on their hands and knees to enter the huge, central room. ROWQUE: This is the mystic Orb of Power, it was slightly bumped during the earthquake, we can't understand why it no longer functions LUIGI (looking at the Orb): I can see the problem! There are two disconnected circuits inside, there's many strands of fiber inside this Orb, kinda like wires. LAO ZI: Can this "Orb" be taken apart? ROWQUE: NO! The Orb of Power cannot be opened, it is forbidden! SU LI: You mean that the Orb must be repaired WITHOUT opening it? PONCHO: I have an idea! I see a tiny hole! I can shrink down small enough to crawl inside of it! LUIGI (smiling): I get it! And I'll use my X-ray vision to guide you to the trouble spots and back out again! LAO ZI (concerned): This is extremely dangerous, are you two sure about this? PONCHO: Si, senor! We do it! LUIGI: We must fix this thing or the shroud will not work! We have to do this! Carrying a small toolbox in his hands, Poncho shrinks himself to one quarter size as he climbs into Luigi's hand, he shrinks even smaller, small enough to walk down Luigi's hand and into the tiny opening. Luigi shouts directions to Poncho, guilding him with his X Ray vision. Poncho quickly fixing the alien "wiring" and emerges out of the opening, returning to normal size. Numbia and Derby have returned from the cave and crawl into the building to see what was going on. PONCHO (happy): We did it, Amigo! LUIGI (happy): Si, Poncho! ROWQUE: Now I can activate the Orb! NUMBIA (moving closer to the Orb): WOW!! It sure looks very pretty, Rowque! ROWQUE (waving his hands over the Orb): Please be careful, female being, the Orb has great power, one should not be too close to it. As Rowque waves his hands over it, the Orb of Power begins to glow, making strange static noises. Numbia moves in for a closer look and the Orb hits her with a strange bolt of orange lightning, knocking her unconscience. DEBORAH (walking on hands and knees over to Numbia): NUMBIA!!! She's out cold, we need to get her outside! All of the other Rovers crawl out of the large building, Deborah and Su Li pull Numbia out of the entrance. As Deborah opens her med kit, the others notice something strange happening in the sky. ROWQUE (pointing upward): Do you see it? The shroud of invisibility is beginning to function again! Thank you, Space Rovers, for all of your help! LAO ZI: It was our pleasure, Rowque! ROWQUE: Is Numbia alright? No alien has EVER been zapped by the Orb or Power before DEBORAH (helping Numbia to stand): She's still a little wobbly, but she'll be just fine! ROWQUE: May I ask all of you for one last favor? LAO ZI: Name it, Rowque! ROWQUE: I must ask all of you to keep our secret, tell no one about Alondra or meeting any of us! LAO ZI: We will keep your secret, Rowque! (He turns to the others) And that's an ORDER! ALL ANSWER: Yes, sir! ROWQUE: Now, you all must leave, the Orb detects that others of your species are coming this way! The shroud will be fully in place in moments, but you must keep all of them away from here, understand? LAO ZI: We understand, Space Rovers, let's go! All of the Space Rovers walk away from the village as the other Alondrans emerege from their hiding places and begin to cheer for the Rovers. The group is now just outside of the Shroud's range as they see Alexander and Whitey approach them. Lao Zi turns and sees that the Shroud has not completely hid Alondra yet, so he uses his mind to create an illusion that hides their new friends from sight. ALEXANDER (concerned): Lao Zi! There you are! We'd lost communications with you and came looking for your team. Do you have an explanation? LAO ZI: Our scanners picked up some very strange readings, so we all came up here to investigate. Must be some strange sunspot activity or something like that, now the readings are normal and we have communications again WHITEY (looking at his scanner): Yes, the readings are normal. Strange, no ususual sunspots either. Hmmmmmm Oh well, the important thing is that you're all safe! ALEXANDER (laughing): So, Lao Zi, how was your first surveying mission? Not very exciting, is it? LAO ZI (smiling): Just another day in space, but our mission is finished, the survey is complete! WHITEY: Excellent! All members of Team two will submit complete written reports upon return to the Canius Minor. Get your gear and prepare to leave the planet's surface. LAO ZI: Aye Aye, Sir! On the flight back to the Canius Minor, Lao ZI and the others quickly purge all of their recording instruments of anything relating to Alondra. The ten members of Team two vow to never mention what really happened on the planet to anyone. An hour later, Ensign Lao Zi was called to Persia's office. PERSIA: Ensign, these reports that your team wrote seem somewhat incomplete, explain. LAO ZI: Captain, the mission was a success! We recorded enough geological data on the planet to ...... PERSIA (interrupting): and all of you were careful not to mention your experiences with the Alondrans! LAO ZI (dumbfounded): Captain? PERSIA (smiling): Remember? I can read minds! You and your team assisted the Alondrans in keeping themselves in hiding, and did some rather heroic feats to accomplish this, right, Lao Zi? LAO ZI (lowers his head): You are correct, Captain. PERSIA: All of you took an oath not to tell anyone else about Alondra. Didn't you? LAO ZI: It is true, Captain Persia PERSIA: Ensign, don't worry, I will also keep the Alondran secret. I have no desire to tell anyone where your new friends are located, or of their existance. LAO ZI (smiling): Thank you, Captain! PERSIA: Well done, Ensign! You and your team members did an excellent job, keep up the good work, dismissed! As Lao Zi leaves her office, Persia continues her log entry. PERSIA (into mic): Captain's log, supplemental. Survey mission to planet 7A4 was a success. Ensign Lao Zi and the Rovers under his command did a very good job, one might say they have many 'hidden' talents.
