The Space Rovers -- "The Challenge of Hu-nol -- Part 2" Captain Persia attempts to reason with Captain Hu-nol. She's not afraid, she simply wants to resolve this dispute peacefully. Every monitor on the Canius Minor is tuned to the 'fight.' Calypso calls a 'recess' because the Rover children beg her to let them watch the action. Even the lounge area becomes quiet as all of the Rovers there sit and stare at the big screen monitor on the far wall. PERSIA (pleading): Captain Hu-nol, why can't we resolve our differences peacefully? HU-NOL (angry): And YOU call yourself a leader! Leaders lead by strength! I am undefeated in all my years of service to Jolqua, that's how I became Captain of this vessel! PERSIA (shakes her head): A true leader makes good decisions and earns the respect of those who serves ...... HU-NOL (interrupting): ENOUGH TALK! FIGHT ME NOW, FEMALE! Hu-nol grabs a battle-axe from the wall and takes a swing at Persia, she jumps in the air as the blade barely misses her feet. Persia tries to reach for a club, but Hu-nol swings his battle-axe again, this time Persia rolls on the floor to avoid the huge blade. HU-NOL (laughing): This will be easier than I thought it would! You can't run forever, Captain Persia! PERSIA (panting): I'm not running, I don't want to attack you. If I did, you'd be very sorry...... HU-NOL (laughing harder): You can't be serious! YOU, make ME sorry! That's a very humerous idea! The guards in the room laugh with their Captain, on the bridge of the Canius Minor, Alexander and the others are puzzled. ALEXANDER: What is Persia up to? WHITEY: This is very odd. Captain Hu-nol is three times larger than Persia, physically, he is much stronger and more agile. SAUNDRA (angry): Don't count the Captain out! She has something in mind. BOOMER: I sure hope so, honey, because if she doesn't, she's toast! GRUNT: GRRRRRRRRRRRR GROWL GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR CACTUS JAKE: I wish you were there with her also, big guy! In the classroom, the children cheer for Persia! In the lounge area, the Rovers watching the fight are equally dismayed. DERBY: She must be off her nut! I admit she's brave, but this is madness! PONCHO (shouting): GET'M PERSIA! GIVE THAT UGLY APE THE DREADNAUGHT TREATMENT! DOT (shouting): YEAH PERSIA, MAKE HIM A SAPRANO!!! Back on the alien vessel, Persia runs to avoid yet another swing of Hu-nol's battle-axe. Hu-nol is getting very angry. HU-NOL (raging): FIGHT OR STAND STILL! STOP RUNNING AROUND! PERSIA (panting): You don't want me to do this! For the last time, will you please listen to reason? HU-NOL (holding his battle-axe like a spear): HERE'S YOUR ANSWER!! Hu-nol throws his battle-axe directly at Persia, she ducks and barely escapes the huge blade. Hu-nol runs towards Persia and grabs her in his right hand, lifting her up towards his face. HU-NOL (laughing evily): THIS ENDS NOW!! I'll crush you! Before I smash you against the wall like a common insect, tell me why you haven't attack me? PERSIA (sadly): Because my attack would utterly destroy you, and I ..... HU-NOL (laughs hard): You are bluffing, small furry creature! GO AHEAD, ATTACK ME!! PERSIA (almost in tears): Please don't make me do this ..... HU-NOL (laughs even harder): ATTACK ME, OR I'LL DESTROY YOUR VESSEL! I'LL EVEN EAT YOUR CREW MYSELF!! Persia grew angry, she knew she had no choice but to stop him. She closes her eyes, and quickly reads Hu-nol's mind, and within seconds brings all of his worst fears rushing into his mind at once. At first, Hu-nol resists but as the fears and scary images build in his mind, he becomes panic stricken. Hu-nol drops Persia onto the floor as he looks all around, his mind sees nothing but scary images all around him. Persia walks slowly towards him, and he runs and cowers with fright on the other side of the room. BOOMER (surprised): What's happened to Hu-nol? WHITEY (smiling): It appears that Persia is using some sort of mind-related attack against him. The Rover children in the classroom cheer wildly for Persia, in the lounge, Poncho and Dot scream Persia's name and exchange high-fives. PERSIA (looking all around the room): This fight is over! Your Captain can no longer continue! Release me and my ship, unless one of you wants to take Hu-noi's place! The guards stationed in the room tremble and step slowly backwards. Instantly, Persia is teleported back on the bridge of the Canius Minor. The space 'fence' disappears and all three of the Jolquan space vessels quickly leave at warp speed. Nearly exhausted, Persia falls to the floor. ALEXANDER (shouting): CAPTAIN!!! BRUNO, GET SHEENA UP HERE, NOW!!! WHITEY (shouting): She's breathing, but looks like she's mentally drained Sheena rushes out of the elevator to Persia's side, opens her medical bag and examines the Captain. SHEENA (excitedly): Someone help me get her down to sick bay! Cactus Jake and Grunt gently pick Persia up and follow Sheena into the elevator. Minutes later, they're all in the sick bay, Persia is lying in bed while Grunt and Cactus Jake wait outside her room, pacing back and forth in front of her door. Abdullah, Sheena and Deborah are in her room, using their high tech equipment to examine her. Alexander, Boomer and Saundra arrive, and watch Grunt and Cactus Jake pacing. ALEXANDER: Grunt! Cactus Jake! Stand at attention! BOOMER (excitedly): Tell us, what's the Captain's condition? CACTUS JAKE (sadly): We don't know, the medical staff is still examining her. GRUNT: GRRRRRRRRRRRR GROWL! GRRRRRRRRRRRR SAUNDRA: No Grunt, you may not enter her room! Request denied! ALEXANDER (calmly): Steady lads, let's let Abdullah and Sheena do their job Deborah opens the door and is quickly surrounded by the others. DEBORAH: Please! I'll tell you all about the Captain! She is suffering from both physical and emotional exhaustion. Abdullah and Sheena are recommending complete bedrest. Persia is conscience now, and wants to speak with you, Commander Alexander. The rest of you please wait outside or return to duty, your choice. GRUNT: GRRRRRRRRRRRRR GROWL GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR DEBORAH: I'm sorry, Grunt, but she's not ready for more visitors yet, Doctor Abdullah's orders GRUNT: GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR GROWL GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR DEBORAH (smiling): Yes, Grunt, I will personally look after her and see she gets the best care, OK? Alexander enters Persia's room as Abdullah and Sheena leave. He walks over to her bedside and puts his hand in hers. ALEXANDER (softly): I'm here, Captain PERSIA (weakly): Old man, is the ship out of Jolquan space? ALEXANDER: Yes, Captain. All the Jolquan vessel fled after they sent you back to us! You did it! You saved us! PERSIA (almost crying): It was the hardest decision I ever made, old man.... ALEXANDER: I don't understand... PERSIA (weakly): Because I had to break a promise I made to myself two years ago. Back when I was in retirement, one evening I ran to help a young lady who was being attacked by a gang member. He threw both of us to the street and whipped out a knife. Without thinking, I read the man's mind and made all of his fears come alive in his brain. That stopped the attack, but drove the man permanently insane. That night, I promised myself that I'd never do that to anyone again, but now, I've broken my word... Alexander reaches over and hugs Persia, who bursts out into tears in his embrace... ALEXANDER (holding Persia): It's alright, you did what you had to to save your ship and your crew.... remember, those beings were going to enslave or eat us.... PERSIA (crying): really, old man? ALEXANDER (holding Persia): You said that it takes more than sheer strength to be a good leader, and you proved it to the Jolquans by giving your all for your crew... I've never been more proud of you! PERSIA (crying): Thank you, old man.... it means a lot to me to hear you say that.... ALEXANDER: Now, you need to stay here and rest, alright? PERSIA (laying back down in the bed): Ok, old man, I'll be a good patient! ALEXANDER (smiling): That's my Persia! Don't worry, I'll handle everything until you return to active duty. PERSIA (smiling): I know I can always count on you, old man! Alexander leaves the room and Sheena comes in to look at Persia's charts. PERSIA: How's Numbia doing? Did the girls find out what wrong with her? SHEENA (happy): Good news, Captain! Numbia is not sick! She's a shapeshifter! PERSIA (surprised): A what? SHEENA: A shapeshifter! It's like what Whitey can do with none living things, only Numbia has the ability to change her body like that! PERSIA (relieved): That explains what happened earlier today! SHEENA: Whitey, Flash and Daisy are working with Numbia to help her control her new powers PERSIA: Like they did with Ensign Bob, good! SHEENA: May I say, Captain, that you were very brave today! PERSIA (surprised): You saw? SHEENA: Yes! The Jolquans allowed the entire crew to watch your battle PERSIA (sadly): Everyone saw? SHEENA (bubbly): YES!! And you were wonderful!!! Everyone on board is talking about it! It's a good thing you used a mind attack on him, you saved all of our lives! Thank you, Captain! PERSIA (grinning): You're welcome, Sheena SHEENA (handing Persia a pill and a glass of water): Now, please take this and rest, OK? PERSIA (swallows pill): Ok, Sheena, I'll do just what the doctor ordered.... Alexander returns to the bridge, sits in the Captain's chair and records a log entry ALEXANDER (into mic): Captain log, supplemental, First Officer Alexander reporting. Captain Persia has triumphed over her Jolquan counterpart using her telepathic powers. The Jolquans, in turn, released our vessel and we have returned to normal space. She is in sick bay now, recovering from her ordeal. I want to go on record as stating that the Captain's selfless actions deserve a very high commendation. I believe I can speak for the entire crew of the Canius Minor when I say that it's an honor to serve under such a strong, talented leader. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
