Dervish is a creation of Casey Johnson. Dylan is a creation of Dylan Rinald. The Space Rovers -- "The Long Goodbye" The scene is Alpha Base, a short drive from Road Rover Headquarters. Today is the day that 'shore leave' on Earth ends for the Space Rovers. Many of the other Rovers are in attendance to say farewell to their fellow Cano-Sapiens. All of them have gathered in the 'hanger' where the Canius Minor is located. In the distance, Shag and Derby are in a heated discussion. Derby walks away and nearly bumps into Calypso. CALYPSO (startled): Hey mon, take it slow and easy, alright? DERBY (tips hat): I'm beggin your pardon, ma'am. CALYPSO (smiles): I see you be having words with Shag, what he be telling you? DERBY (shakes head): He was trying to convince me that the best way to prepare entrees are to use toilet water in them! I had to protest! I nor any of me kitchen staff have EVER used toilet water in meal preparation! CALYPSO (nods): I we all appreciate your efforts, mon! Even the children enjoy your cooking! DERBY (smiles): Really? (looks around): By the way, where are the little tikes at? CALYPSO (points): They're all over there, saying their goodbye to their Uncle Amos and Aunt Hannah! DERBY (confused): Aunt? Uncle? Blimey! I must be missing something here..... In another part of the hanger, Professor Hubert, Daisy, Flash, Cactus Jake and Rasputin have just entered. HUBERT (hugging his daughters): I'm really going to miss you two! Take care of yourselves out there in space, alright? DAISY (crying): We will, daddy! FLASH (crying): You can count on us, daddy! CACTUS JAKE (proudly): And I'll be watchin' out for both of them, sir! RASPUTIN (nods): As will I! HUBERT (takes out handerchef): I know I can count on you two men! (blows nose) DAISY (smiles): Rassy, have you seen Orchid yet? RASPUTIN (looks around): Not yet....wait! She's walking over this way! DAISY (growls): She's probably going to make a play for you.... ORCHID (smiling): Hello Rasputin! I have something to tell you.... RASPUTIN (sadly): And I have something you should know as well.... ORCHID (shakes head): Let me go first.... As she is speaking, a male Sheba-Enu comes running over to them. ORCHID (shocked): Well, I'll just say it outright! Meet Cadet Hojo! I met him while I was home on Okinowa. He's been assigned to engineering department aboard the Canius Minor! Isn't that wonderful? HOJO (bows): Pleased to make your acquaintance! Orchid speaks very highly of all of you! (turns to Orchid): I must report to Lt Molotov now, will I see you later to share dinner together? ORCHID (nods): You can count on it, my love! (looks dreamily at Hojo as he walks away): WHAT A MAN!!! It was love at first sight! (turns to Rasputin): So, Rassy, what did you want to tell me? RASPUTIN (stunned): Well....I... DAISY (interrupts, shakes Orchid's hand): I'm really happy for you, Orchid! You two seem to be meant for each other! ORCHID (smiles): Thank you, Daisy! No hard feelings? DAISY (huge smile): Absolutely NONE! ORCHID (happy): Wonderful! Please excuse me, I have to get my luggage back on board the ship. As Orchid walks away, Daisy nearly explodes with excitement. RASPUTIN (turns to Daisy): Well, it would seem that .... DAISY (excited): SHUT UP AND KISS ME!!! Daisy grabs Rasputin in her arms and kisses him so hard, he falls over backward. HUBERT (shocked): DAISY! Down girl, you're in public! DAISY (stands over him): Rassy! You're MY feller now! RASPUTIN (struggles to stand up): I sure can't agrue with that! Daisy grabs Rasputin once more as they share a long, passionate kiss. FLASH (looks up at Cactus Jake): Sis has the right idea! CACTUS JAKE (nods): I read you loud and clear, little darlin'! Flash and Cactus Jake embrace. In another part of the hanger, Whitey, Sno-wie, Dawn, Hope and Alethia are saying their goodbyes. WHITEY (smiles): It has been good to see you again, Alethia! ALETHIA (hugs Whitey): I agree! Let's keep in touch! SNO-WIE (smiles): Thank you for all of your help! You've helped me to understand many things about this universe! ALETHIA (smiles): And thank you, my friend! Whitey could've asked for a better wife! (hugs Sno-wie and then turns to Whitey): It looks like you've been taking my advice! This is the first time I can ever remember you smiling for over a minute! WHITEY (nods): You are correct, my friend! Sno-wie has truly helped me to find my emotions again. ALETHIA (giggles): I can see that! You two take care of yourselves. Look me up again when you're back on earth! WHITEY (nods): We will, Alethia! SNO-WIE (nods): That's a big 7-4! WHITEY (turns to Sno-wie): 10-4, my dear, it's 10-4 here. SNO-WIE (laughs): I'll have to remember that! DAWN (hugs Sno-wie): Bye, Sno-wie! Let's keep in touch! HOPE (hugs Sno-wie): It was great meeting you! SNO-WIE (smiles): Thank you both, you're just as kind and wonderful as your counterparts are in my universe! Cactus Jake walks over to his cousins Hunter and Huntress, who are talking to Persia, Grunt and Alexander. HUNTER (shakes Persia's hand): Well Persia, looks like this is goodbye! Thanks again for saving our toast! PERSIA (smiles): You're welcome, my friend! HUNTER (looks up at Grunt): And big guy, do you understand now? I'm in love with Colleen, not Persia. The Hunter of the OTHER universe loves Persia, not me, OK? GRUNT (nods): GRRRRRRRRRR GROWL!! HUNTER (relieved): I'm glad that's over with! You had me worried there, pal! I definately want to stay on your good side, buddy! HUNTRESS (watches Cactus Jake walk over): And here comes the star of the show, that new singing sensation, that Space Rover with the country music flair .... CACTUS JAKE (laughing, interrupting): Ok, ok. I don't deserve an introduction like that. PERSIA (smiles): I heard about you and Flash recording an album together, I think that's wonderful! HUNTER (nods): And good, positive publicity for the Road Rovers! CACTUS JAKE (smiles): All I know is I enjoy singing, that's all. If the CD's a hit, great! If not, no sweat! ALEXANDER (stern look): All I know is, Lt Jake, when you're on duty I want you to devote you're full attention to your duties and ... CACTUS JAKE (confused): Huh? Did you say Lt. Jake? PERSIA (elbows Alexander): Old man, I wasn't going to tell him yet! (smiles): It's true, Cactus Jake. I suggested your name for promotion and the Master agreed. So, congradulations, Lt Cactus Jake! CACTUS JAKE (excited): YEEEEEAAAHHHHH HHHAAAAAWWWWWW! HUNTRESS (snickers): Cousin, you always did have a way with words! ALEXANDER (hands Persia a clipboard): Captain, here is the updated crew roster list. We are adding five new cadets. PERSIA (looks at list): I see! Very well, see that they are assigned crew quarters. ALEXANDER (points to entrance door): Captain, look! Walking through the entrance doors are Fydo, Claudia and Sport. All of the other Rovers turn towards them and begin to applaud and cheer loudly. FYDO (confused): What's this all about? CLAUDIA (happy): It's because you're famous! SPORT (nods): Yes son! You made the front page of nearly every newspaper in North America for all you did in St John's! FYDO (shakes head): But I keep telling you two, I don't deserve all of this! When all the Rover children see Fydo, they all run over to him and cheer. Persia also walks over to where he is standing and shakes his hand PERSIA (smiles): Lt Fydo, excellent work! I'm very, very proud of you! FYDO (confused): I don't know what to say.... PERSIA (happy): I know what to say! Good job! The other Rovers cheer and shout his name as he walks back towards the gang plank of the ship. CLAUDIA (shakes Sport's hand): It was a pleasure to meet you, sir. I can see where your son gets all of his good looks from! SPORT (blushes): Now, I wouldn't go that far with it, ma'am! FYDO (hugs Sport): Goodbye, dad, I'm going to miss you! SPORT (sadly): I will miss you also, I love you and am very proud of you! In another section of the hanger, Molly, Bruno, Francis and Marie are walking towards the ship. MOLLY (gruffly): I hope those repair crews didn't disturb my warp engines! If they did, I'll make borsh out of them! BRUNO (rolls eyes): Vacation's over.... FRANCIS (smiles): Don't worry, Molly, I'm sure everything is in perfect order! MOLLY (grumbles): It better be! MARIE (happy): If it's not, Francis and I will fix it, yes? MOLLY (snorts): I can't stand being away from my babies this long! FRANCIS (turns to Bruno): Her children? BRUNO (sadly): No, her warp engines! FRANCIS (rolls eyes): Oh.... MARIE (looks around): Speaking of children, where's ours? FRANCIS (points): Over there, with Amos and Hannah! Walking towards them are Amos Doggie and Hannah, followed by all of the Rover children. GRETA (smiles): Uncle Amos, did you tell him? YURI (happy): Da! Did you Uncle Amos? AMOS (nods): I sure did, youngens! I don't go givin' me secret recipe for crawdad bisque to just anyone, but I see how y'all loves it so much! Of course, Derby be having to catch his own crawdads! PENG (nods): Perhaps we could find acceptable substitutes for the crawdads if neccessary BERNADETTE (shakes head): Then it wouldn't taste the same! HANNAH (holding back tears): I'm really going to miss all of you! JOSEPHINE (hugs Hannah): And we're going to miss you too, Aunt Hannah! All of the Rover children hug both Amos and Hannah, and then join their parents. Walking towards the gangplank are Boomer, Saundra, Dylan, Dervish, DJ and Molly Maddog. BOOMER (sadly): This entire week of shore leave has just flown by, hasn't it? SAUNDRA (nods): It sure has, dear! DJ (smiles): Time sure flies when you're having fun! Molly and I spent much of the week helping the maintenence crew work on the Canius Minor! MOLLY M (nods): This is quite a vessel! That Barium core reactor of yours is one great piece of work! DERVISH (nods): I helped check all of your computer systems. I must admit I was quite impressed with the design. SAUNDRA (smiles): Yes, it has served us well over these past few months. DYLAN (smiles): In a way, I envy you Space Rovers! Facing the unknown on a daily basis, all of the action and excitement! DJ (nods): I can still remember when those furry ape-like people took us to Graum to attend your wedding! Now that's a beautiful planet! DERVISH (nods): I agree! The scenary was grand, and the food was excellent! DYLAN (smiles): I sure enjoyed that one meat dish they served, now....what did they call it?......Brewnoc! Yeah, that's it! I can still remember that like it was yesterday! BOOMER (smiles): The Willians are the finests hosts in the quardrant! SAUNDRA (nods): Maybe the Captain will let us return there someday! BOOMER (happy): It's the perfect place for peace and quiet, for a romantic stroll... As Boomer continues to speak, Molly and DJ look at each other and smile. Near the front of the Canius Minor, Cobber and Sheena are saying goodbye to each other. SHEENA (holding back tears): Well, Cobbie, this is it. COBBER (sadly): It is, my love! These past few months have been the greatest days of me life! SHEENA (sobs): I agree! I will really miss you! COBBER (sadly): And I'll always be thinking of you, my dear! Sheena cringes slightly when she sees Colleen running over to them. COLLEEN (smiling): Sheena! I wanted to see you off! SHEENA (almost crying): Thank you.....you're very kind.... COLLEEN (shakes her hand): Look Sheena, Sno-wie explained it all to me. I want to assure you that I have absolbloominlutely NO romance inclanations for Cobber. I'm very deeply in love with Hunter. Sno-wie told me how you ran into my counterpart in the parallel universe, and that SHE was married to that Cobber. Listen to me, Cobber is a very good friend, but all he talks about is you! Believe me, Sheena, I'd never do anything to take him away from you! SHEENA (smiles): Thank you, Colleen. I feel a lot better now! Sheena and Colleen hug. Colleen waves goodbye and then walks towards the other Space Rovers. COBBER (smiles): Now, you see, darling? I only have eyes for you! SHEENA (sadly): Even though we'll be light years apart? COBBER (holds Sheena): Sheena, I love you with all of my heart and soul! Nothing's ever going to change that! SHEENA (crying): Oh Cobbie! Cobber and Sheena embrace and share a long, passionate kiss. WARRIOR (on loudspeaker): The Canius Minor will be departing for deep space in ten minutes. All Space Rover crew members report to your stations! All other personnel please leave the launch area immediately! COBBER (sadly): Well, gotta run now. Take care of yourself out there in deep space. I'll be here waiting for your return! SHEENA (sadly, nods): And I'll never stop loving you, Cobbie! With one last kiss and embrace, Sheena walks towards the gangplank while Cobber slowlky walks towards the exit. They repeatedly glance back at each other as they go their separate ways. Soon, all of the Space Rovers are aboard the Canius Minor. The scene switches to the bridge where Persia sits in the 'captain's chair', Boomer, Saundra, Whitey, Cactus Jake, Bruno, Grunt and Bob are all at their assigned 'stations.' Alexander is seated in the chair next to Persia. PERSIA (turns to Bruno): Status report! BRUNO (pushing buttons): Molly reports that the Barium reactor, warp drive and impulse engines are all ready. Dr Abdullah reports that sick bay is ready. Marie reports that all damage control team members are in their assigned stations and Derby reports that today's dinner entree in the galley will be Swiss steak and gravy. PERSIA (nods): Noted, Whitey, are we ready for lift-off? WHITEY (looking at monitor): All systems functioning within normal parameters. GRUNT (shouts): GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR GRRROOWWWWLLLL! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR PERSIA (rolls eyes): It's nice to know that all weapons systems are ready, Grunt! BRUNO (turns to Persia): Captain, Warrior is opening the Alpha Base main doors now. He has cleared us for departure. PERSIA (sighs): Well, shore leave was fun while it lasted, but now, it's back to work! Boomer, start landing thrusters at one quarter impulse. Saundra, plot a course that will take us out of the Earth's atmosphere. BOOMER (pushing buttons): Thrusters are a go! SAUNDRA (pushing buttons): Course laid in, Captain. PERSIA (turns to Bruno): Bruno, make a ship-wide announcement, we are now leaving Earth. All non-duty crew members secure to general quarters. BRUNO (nods): Aye aye, Captain! PERSIA (looks straight ahead): Alright Commander Boomer, take us up! BOOMER (pushing buttons): Aye aye, Captain! The huge Canius Minor begins to slowly ascend towards the open bay door directly above it. When the ship has cleared the doors, it begins to rise towards the sky. In a split-second, with a flash of light behind it, the Canius Minor vanishes from view. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
