While in the hospital, Dawn, Buffy, and Riley are waiting for information about Joyce's fainting spell.
The doctor gives Dawn a stethoscope to play with for a minute and she puts it to Riley's chest only to
discover that his heart is beating extremely fast. Despite everyone telling him to stay in the hospital
he leaves and goes home. When Buffy enlists the help of the Initiative and Riley refuses. Finally when
she gets Riley to go to the Initiative doctor he has removed Spike's chip due to threats of harm. Spike,
extremely angry after finding out the doctor didn't actually take the chip out, leaves. Riley is operated
on and is a "regular joe".
