Last updated 21th April 2000 PRISONER Prisoner was the Aussie Soap about women in Prison which first shocked an Australian Audiance in 1979. It was written as a sixteen part self-contained series. By the time Prisoner started screening, it was realised that it was a winner. In 1979 it was the most popular show in the National top 10. One year later it was still at number eight.
