A violent end for the criminal who made Prisoner so real

FORMER Pentridge Prison Inmate Peter Squire was a valeable man in the TV series Prisoner. His criminal background provided information that formulated many major storylines. While in Pentridge Squire was submitting script ideas and when he was released in 1980, he was taken on as an advisor, storyliner and scriptwriter for Prisoner, But while his Grundy Organization colleagues believed they knew all there was to know about Squire, there was a hidden side, a dark side. In June 1986 it emerged when he was one of two masked gunmen who held up the National Bank in the Melbourne Suburb of Yarraville. He had a real anger about him A security guard shot and killed Square after Squire shot him paralysing his arm. The Coroner's Court found that the guards actions were reasonable and justified. Peter Squire made a guest appearance on Prisoner as a Prison Officer.
