Censorship

The People's Opinion:

The Man Behind the Curtain

Censorship is pointless. The U.S. has more censorship than all other countries i the world, combined. For some reason, nature has been deemed bad by Americans. Saying word's like the dreaded "F" word are looked at as a horrible thing. Violence is another thing censored but is a little more understandable than nudity and profanity. However, Although violence is definitely bad doesn't mean it's not out there. It's part of life, and life is what is being censored. Sex. Just talking about it has been deemed wrong. "We must protect the children!" I've heard this a countless amount of times from some upset woman who thinks protecting children is keeping them from the truth. Acts like the communications decency act were passed to "protect" the children. What is so wrong about sex? What makes profanity profanity? What is wrong with a child seeing violence and with it being taught that it's wrong? The earlier children are exposed to these censored things, the more time they have to learn about them, and will do better in life because they know more about it. Sex scares parents because they are afraid that their child will have sex too early and need to start a premature family. What they don't think about is that the more they teach their kids about it, and the less they make it seem like a bad thing, then the more likely the chances of the child waiting to do it. If they understand the dangers of it and learn as much about it as math, the more prepared they will be for life. (again I'm hoping all this makes sense.) The stupidest part of the sex-related censorship is the nudity issue. I am totally clueless as to why it's wrong to show nudity on television and why it is required to wear clothing in public. The body is nature, and americans have decided nature is a bad thing. I guess i'll leave the rest to be discussed by other people.

Well, as the Man Behind the Curtain stated, censorship in this country has gone to the extreme. People find that they can not watch something because it is entertaining but simply because it is not violent. Television programs are plastered with stickers telling what one can expect from the following program. This is good. If a person does not want to watch a program with sex, or violence or profane ideas or words, it is completely understandable. What is not good, however, is the fact that many parents dun to the government or to broadcasting companies demanding that shows or programs be taken off of the air despite any type of warning prior to the show's airing. It is not necessary to complain to our legislators about completely natural as well as fantastic ideas when we have had ample warning. People who complain need to turn off their television sets or grin and bear it. When warnings are given, they should be followed. These people know better anyway. For instance, if a person read on a bottle of an unknown substance that the contents within were poisonous if swallowed, how many people would drank it? If these people are sane enough to recognize bad things in one situation why can't they just carry over that same mentality to another area? Therefore, warnings enough should be the only type of censorship here in America. After, these rights are protected by the First Amendment to the Constitution. Nevertheless, as the man behind the curtain was explaining, there is something wrong with sex, and violence. Sex, mainly sex without any type of emotional bond is not good for a young person to see; it will have them wanted wanton acts of it. Cartoon violence or even the explosions or gunfights are examples of entertaining violence.  Other types such as unwarranted fighting are not what a child should be shown. But also, what was just said only applies to those immature children. By the time a child reaches age enough to interpret those violent or sexual actions, a parent should know how mature their child is and should, with the collaboration of the current, almost overly-detailed warning systems before programs, allow the child to watch what they feel fits that child's mindset. Therefore, the letters to broadcasting companies can be eliminated if parents simply turn off the tv or, as said before, grin and bear it.
