Golf Destinations
It's no surprise that Prince Edward Island with its strong
Scottish heritage and well developed tourism industry has
evolved into one of the world's premier golf destinations.
What you may find surprising, however, is how visually stunning the
Island's courses are. The greens and fairways are set amidst
magnificent red cliffs, sand dunes and farmland, almost always within
sight of the sea.
In Eastern PEI, there is a golf course for every taste, from the world
class Highland-style Links at Crowbush Cove to Belfast Highland
Greens at Selkirk Provincial Park. Crowbush Cove was recently
awarded the five star rating by Golf Digest, "Places To Play."
Belfast Highland Greens is a challenging nine hole gem with
breathtaking water views located just off the TransCanada between
Wood Islands and Charlottetown. Brudenell is home to two courses
with a total of 36 holes. Adjacent to this layout is the Brudenell River
Golf Academy under the direction of Anne Chouinard, coach of
Lori Kane of the LPGA. It has received praise from many
prestigious quarters, including being ranked in the Top 25
Courses in Canada by Score Magazine.
The new Dundarave Golf Course was designed by two of the most
respected course architects in North America. Dundarave offers a
challenging experience in a scenic setting.
Other fine courses are located at Rollo Bay and Beaver Valley,
Martinvale, PEI will have two new championship 18-hole courses
for 2000. The countryside course of Avondale near Vernon River
and the Fox Meadows course in Stratford, only minutes from
Charlottetown, will both add new dimensions in Golf Course
excellence to Prince Edward Island's growing reputation as a first
class golf destination.
