Bee Keeping

I have always wanted to keep bees. Why?, well, I feel a bit like Sancho Panza as I say this, "I like them, I just like them". They work hard for the whole, that includes us, and never seem to whine.
Although, with all the startup costs of a langstroth hive, associated tools and a honey extractor I could never justify the costs involved. How could I spend hundreds of dollars, just for honey and wax that needs processing?

Well, I had'nt done my research. As my luck had it though, others had. I stumbled upon the "Top Bar Hive" site of James D. Satterfield, I then realized I would be adding tbh beekeeping to my list of hobbies.

Here are the links that got me started and a few pictures from my apiary.

I think the TBH has a lot to offer people in more developed countries if we are willing to step away from the monster named technology and embrace the beauty of simplicity. - Tim Haarmann

It seems that the most criticism of the tbh system comes from commercial beekeepers. If I were beekeeping to make a cash profit from selling honey, I just might agree with them.
Fortunatly this is not the case, as I do not want to make any cash profit at all. I simply want my garden pollinated, cone honey for my toast and beeswax for my candles.
Let others chase profit margins.
I will be sitting by candle light, as dusk washes over my garden.
