KITBASHED FRENCH FOREIGN LEGIONAIRE

By Roy Johnson (RJohn68217@aol.com)
I was watching the (excellent) movie "March or Die" about the FFL, and thought it would be cool to make an old fashioned Legionaire. The coat is from Formative Intl. WWI French soldier, the boots are Cots rubber jackboots cut lower...the pants are from the HOF SP set. Canteen is Cots.Belt and sash are Formative Intl. The pack is from the Desert forces Italian the canteen is Cots,as is the rifle (stolen from Maj. Sharpe), Cap is Cots white fatigue hat with bill painted black. I took buttons from an extra CW Formative uniform for the coat. The total cost was about $15 for the cap and the canteen, everything else was "around the house" already..

COLONIAL MARINE
By Mitch (MRRaymer@aol.com)

Hi Gang I picked up the 12" Hicks vs Alien a month ago. I was vever quite happy with it. So I watched the movie again... got a few ideas. I checked with a couple of guys that do the custom Colonial Marine jobs but both were out of gear and it would be awhile before they were doing them again. Well I'm no sculptor and I have no artistic talent what so ever (heck I can't even draw a straight line) but I fgured what the hey nothing ventured nothing gained so away I went. One of the guys who does the custom marine said he used the bubble carded National Gaurd as the base figure. Well I have two, with spare 21st gear (21st gear now on my desert fatigue Joes). So it was time Hicks (never looked much like Hicks) shed his boots, armor gear, belt, knife, weapon, welder, and motion detector, and helmet with its camera and radio attached to it. The boots fit the bubble Joe great and armor gear was easy with the belt going over the body armor, The camo body armor is a great match with NG uniform. The knife on one leg and I added a 9mm handgun with a drop holster to the other leg. The motion detector has a place to add 2 straps and attached to the belt. The welder is in a cargo pocket and he is holding the pulse rifle. Now for the helmet... the one that came with Hicks is way to big and looked terrible so... That left the NG helmet... with a little care and a small screwdriver the radio mike and camera came right off and was glued right on the NG helmet. Man this is way cool. The only thing missing is leg armor. But still real sweet. And when I was done I had another spare figure for the new 21st gear. I'm heading back to Kaybee to get another Hicks to do my other NG. Give it a try if I can do it anyone can.
