Hi minna! It's my first completed Gundam Wing fic. Thank you to all, who are reading this, my faithful fans.
If I wanted to thank anybody, I put him or her in the cast list at the bottom. However, I didn't get to thank a bunch of my friends at school and my inspirations, Aimee, Kate B., and Alicia Blade. You guys rock!
I'll check y'all later, kay? In the meantime, read the fic and have fun.
Title: Karyn
Author: Nikki Winger

"RUN!" Duo yelled to his friends.
Duo, Solo, and some other orphans stole together, as a team. They either stole food or things to sell for money, or just money by itself. They barely managed to get by, but hey, it was a living.
And, right now, the storeowner had come back to get his coat and found a bunch of kids taking stuff.
"Damn kids!" the old man yelled, trying to hit them with his cane as they ran by, arms full. "I'll get all of you arrested one day!"
"Hah!" Duo yelled back. "Fat chance!"
As he ran down the street, the boys split up so that if one was caught, the others wouldn't be too. As he ran and looked behind him, Duo ran into someone and fell down. The money in his hands dropped around him.
"Shit," Duo moaned. He began scrambling for the money and came face to face with a very wide-eyed girl. She was holding out the rest of the money Duo had stolen.
"Thanks," he said quickly, standing up.
"Wait!" the girl pleaded. "You're one of those orphans that keeps stealing, right? Let me stay with you guys, please. I've got no where to go!"
Duo was about to say now, some people had to look out for themselves, but the look in her eyes...
"Fine," he said quickly. "Follow me."
She nodded and ran with Duo down the dark and deserted street.
~~~~~~~~
"Who's the girl?" Solo asked.
"I said she could stay with us," Duo told him.
Solo sighed and walked over to the girl. "What's your name?" he asked her.
"Karyn."
"Look, Karyn," Solo said, "it's a tough life, and we gotta share whatever we steal. You'd be better off on your own."
"He said I could stay with you guys," Karyn said, glancing at Duo. "Besides, I can steal, fight, shoot, whatever I need to do. I can pick almost any lock, use almost any weapon. I'll be a huge help!"
"Let her stay for a while," Duo said.
"Fine. But if you hold us back, you're gone," Solo warned her.
"Kay," she said happily, her blue eyes bright. "Thanks."
~~~~~~~~
Two weeks later, Karyn was looking at herself in a mirror. Her unnaturally natural white hair was dirty, but her blue eyes were just as bright. The other orphans had finally excepted her as one of them, and she was proud. So why did Karyn feel a sense of approaching doom?
Another month later, Duo and Karyn were running from a cop, their pockets full of stolen money. Duo tripped rather suddenly, and the cop was about to grab him.
Karyn ran over quickly and kicked the cop in the shins. He turned to her angrily and began to chase her. Duo took the time to run off.
Two hours later, Karyn still hadn't come back to their hideout.
"Where's Karyn?" Solo had asked when Duo had come back.
"A cop was chasing her, but she'll probably be okay. I mean, she's Karyn, right?"
~~~~~~~~
General Furahawa slapped the white- haired girl. She spit out some blood, then stared up at him angrily.
She was a spy for the rebels, he knew it. There had been rumors of a girl, trained since birth to be a spy and assassin. One that looked totally innocent, but if she had a gun, would take you out without a single thought.
Only ten years old, and that dangerous. There were more rumors that gundams were being built. Was this child one of the ones being trained to be a pilot?
"Now, child," Furahawa said through gritted teeth. "Tell me your name."
She opened her mouth to speak for the very first time and said, "Anna Conda."
"Anna Co- argh!" He slapped her again, hard, but the girl was smiling now.
"You think this is a game? Huh!?" he yelled.
"`Life's but a walking shadow," she recited, "a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.'" The girl smiled again. "From Macbeth, by William Shakespeare."
He punched the girl in the stomach, and she doubled over in pain. "Throw her in the prison," Furahawa told a soldier. "She won't talk anymore today."
The girl glared at the General as the soldier grabbed her arm. She shoved his hand off. "I can walk perfectly fine," she told him. "Just lead the way."
He nodded, and the girl followed him out of the room.
~~~~~~~~
*Six Years Later*
"Duo!" Karyn happily ran over to her friend as she came off the plane. Upon accidentally finding his cell phone number, Karyn had called him and arranged to come over.
"Karyn, what's up? You look pretty good," he said as they exchanged a quick hug.
"You don't look too bad yourself. C'mon, let's go pick up my suitcase."
"What's with the hair?" Karyn giggled as they walked to the luggage belt.
"What do you mean?"
"It's braided!"
"Oh, that," Duo said, laughing. "We all got caught eventually and got sent to the Maxwell Church. Sister Helen wanted to cut my hair, but I wouldn't let her, so she braided it. I just kept it like this after then."
"Looks cool," Karyn said approvingly. "Let me try."
Before Duo knew what she was doing, Karyn had quickly braided her long white hair to a braid just as long as Duo's. Then she secured a rubber band around the end and struck a pose. "How do I look?" she asked, smiling.
"Like you've been hanging out with me too long."
Karyn laughed, picked up a suitcase off the luggage belt, and began to walk out with Duo.
~~~~~~~~
"Here's my apartment!" Duo said, opening the door.
Karyn looked around. "It's... messy. Just what I thought it would be. Mind if I clean up?"
Duo looked horrified. "Clean? The day I keep an apartment absolutely clean is the day I die!"
Karyn laughed, put her suitcase down, and sat down in an easy chair. "This is comfy. So, what's been happening with you the last six years? Besides being gundam pilot zero two."
Duo whirled around to look at Karyn, shocked. She saw his expression and shook her head. "Duo, they had posters up with you everywhere in the Earth-Colony War! Did you think your friends wouldn't notice?"
"I didn't think of that," he said, sitting down on another chair. "Okay, you know what I've been up to. How about you?"
"I asked first. Tell me everything!" she said eagerly.
So Duo told her about the whole war, from finding zero one and shooting Heero, to watching Heero and Zechs fight, then coming back to Earth.
"So, how about you?" Duo asked.
"I... I don't think you want to know," Karyn said, looking at the ground.
"C'mon, it's me! Is there anything you can't tell your good friend Duo?"
Karyn looked at his expression and sighed. "Fine. But I'm warning you, it hasn't been fun."
And she told him.
~~~~~~~~
At the mall the next day, Karyn and Duo split up. As Karyn was going to one of the exits to meet up with him again, she ran into someone unexpectedly.
"Heero!?" she asked, unbelieving as she stopped a guy her age. (AN: Don't ask me why Heero's at the mall. I can't imagine him there either. It's just that Karyn needs to see him somewhere, and the mall seems as good a place as any.)
It was Heero all right. He was also surprised to see her. "Karyn!?"
"I haven't seen you in years!"
"The doctor and I thought that you had died."
"I came pretty close," she admitted. "I'm staying with Duo for a while. Have you been okay? Heard you beat Zechs Marquise in a fight against Epyon," Karyn said, smiling.
"I'm all right," Heero said, a little embarrassed. `Why am I embarrassed? Karyn's just a friend.'
"Hey, Karyn!" Duo called, running up. "Heero, what's up man?"
"I was just going," he said, beginning to walk away. Karyn stopped him and handed him a slip of paper.
"Call me," she said. Heero nodded and walked away.
"Why does everyone like _him_?" Duo mumbled. Karyn laughed as they walked out together.
~~~~~~~~
***Flashback***
"Karyn, how's it going?"
Karyn turned to see Heero, the new kid. Although Doctor J had tried to keep it from her, she had found out: Karyn was going to be dismissed in a month. And why? Because one of the pilots didn't like girls. (AN: Gomen nasai, I have to get mad at Wufei at least once a fanfic.)
"Good. How about you?" Karyn liked the new boy. He was very sweet. Probably wouldn't be so sweet after being fully trained, but she wasn't going to be staying that long.
"Good. I saw a woman in the street that told me to give this to my mom," Heero said, holding out a rose. "But since I don't have a mom, do you want it?"
"Yeah!" Karyn exclaimed, her eyes lighting up. "Thank you!"
"You're welcome." `She's pretty. I'm glad she likes it.'
`That is so sweet!' "I'll put it in water," Karyn said wisely. She went into the bathroom, dumped out a soda can, rinsed it out, put some water in it, and put the ros ein. "There," she said proudly, putting it on her nightstand.
***End Flashback***
`He seemed more calm and collected,' Karyn thought. She was laying on an air mattress that Duo had provided for her.
`But he seemed kind of embarrassed when I talked to him. I wonder why?'
~~~~~~~~
The next afternoon, Duo had gone out, so Karyn was doing excersises to keep herself limber. She was doing a handstand when her cell phone rang.
Walking over to the couch on her hands, Karyn stood up next to the cell phone, bent down, and flipped it open. "Karyn."
"It's Heero."
Karyn smiled and switched the phone to her right ear. "Hey Heero. What's up?"
"I was wondering if you..." his voice drifted so low it sounded like he was mumbling.
`He's embarrassed. That is so cute!' "I can't hear you, speak louder."
"I was wondering if you wanted to come over for dinner."
"Sure! That'd be fun. What are we having?"
"Well... I really haven't got much of anything," Heero admitted. "Do you want to go out?"
"Nah, just order some pizza. When and where?"
"Tokyo Royal Apartment Complex, apartment 319, six o'clock."
"Cool. See you then!"
Karyn hung up the phone and smiled then sighed happily.
~~~~~~~~
Karyn knocked on the door. `This is 319, right? Or did he say 913. Wait a minute... why am I nervous?'
The door opened to reveal Heero. He was wearing a white T-shirt and jeans. (AN: C'mon, you don't think he'd actually wear spandex shorts and a green tank top in front of a girl he liked, do ya?)
"Hey," Karyn said happily. "I was so worried I had heard you wrong and was at the wrong apartment, or even the wrong building!"
(AN: And one... two... three...) Heero smiled. (AN: Okay, you can melt now.) Karyn nearly melted. (AN: See? What did I tell you?)
Uranus: Hey!
Nikki: What is it?
Uranus: First all, I'd like to thank you for making a Heero fic, even though I'm not the star.
Nikki: Sorry.
Uranus: S'okay. But you can't tell what's going to happen before it does!
Nikki: *defensively* What? I am the writer, after all.
Uranus: That's the problem.
Nikki: What, you mean like this?
Someone screamed.
"Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!"
Uranus: Yeah, like that! So stop it! *walks off*
Nikki: *grumbles* Tryin' to tell me what to do... Okay, back to the story. Since time goes faster here then there, Karyn and Heero have finished eating dinner and are sitting on the couch, catching up.
"What is it like, being in a gundam?" Karyn asked Heero.
"Haven't you been in a mobile suit?"
"Yeah, but gundams are different."
Heero shrugged. "It's a lot like a mobile suit, only beggar and more responsive. And Wing Zero induces temporary insanity to first timers."
"I heard about that!" Karyn exclaimed. "Zero four's pilot was trying to destroy the colonies."
"It wasn't Quatre's fault, just Wing Zero's. I'm used to it, it has no effect on me."
"What kind of insanity?"
"Well," Heero said, thinking. "It makes you think anyone that attacks you is the enemy. And it warps your way of thinking. But it also shows you possible futures. Quatre saw Trowa and myself coming and thought we were the enemy. It turns you against even your friends."
Karyn smiled and put her hand on Heero's. "I'm always your friend," she said brightly. Heero gave a faint smile and they began leaning towards each other...
*A Teensy Bit Earlier*
This is the part where we must introduce the nightmarish blonde, that demon from hell, the one we all fear, th-
Relena: *angry* Hey, don't you think you're going a little far on this?
Nikki: Nope.
Uranus: You stole my Heero!
Relena: He doesn't even know who you are!
Uranus: So?
Nikki: *softly* Not your Heero much longer...
Relena: What did you say?
Nikki: *quickly* Nothing!
Relena: Anywho, shorten the description and let's get on with it.
Sarah: *angry* Anywho is my word!
Nikki: This is ridiculous. Okay, we know introduce the blonde psycho-bitch, Relena Dork-lin Peacecraft.
Relena: That was still a little extreme.
Nikki: Shut up and get on with the fic.
Relena bounded up the stairs by twos. She was going to see the boy she had had a crush on since she first saw him, Heero Yuy.
`So what if Heero doesn't like me?' Relena thought. `He can learn. Besides, he's anti-social. What's the chance he'll meet a girl, let alone a girl that likes him? Heero's all mine.'
Nikki: *snicker*
Relena: Hey, stay out of my head! Besides, what are you laughing about?
Nikki: *in a singsong voice* You'll find out...
Fumbling in her pocket for the key she had `borrowed' from Duo, who had talked Heero into giving it to him, Relena felt a surge of joy. She took out the key, inserted it in the lock, and opened the door. It opened smoothly, without a squeak.
"Hee-" Relena stopped in mid word, shocked. There, sitting on the couch was Heero and a girl, kissing. Her purse slipped off her shoulder and fell to the floor.
Heero heard a thump and broke away from Karyn to look towards the door. Relena was standing there, open-mouthed.
Karyn also looked up and tilted her head to the side when she saw the shocked girl. "Heero, who's that?"
Relena shook her head and ran out before Heero could say anything, and before she could begin to cry in front of him. (AN: Oh Lord, I'm actually starting to feel sorry for Relena. Somebody shoot me now, before I infect the world.
Uranus: It's okay, you're just a nice person. Continue with the story.
Nikki: Kay.)
Karyn looked back to Heero, a confused expression on her face. "Heero, who was that?"
"Just a girl I know," Heero said. He closed the door, then came back to Karyn and sat down next to her. "Nothing more."
"Promise?"
"I promise," Heero said gently. Then he leaned forward and kissed Karyn softly, making all those emotions run through her again. That warmth came through her again, like a fever, only she was enjoying it.
Karyn let her thoughts sink away as she kissed him back.
After what seemed like too soon but was actually twenty minutes, Heero broke away and just began hugging her.
"I missed you," she whispered, crying. "All those years... I went through so much. All I could think of was seeing you and Duo again, my crush and my friend. It gave me hope."
"I missed you too. All those days without you... remember the rose I gave you?"
Karyn laughed. "Yeah. I accidentally left it in my room when I left. It took me a month before I got over it."
Heero hugged Karyn a little tighter, and she sighed and laid her head down on his shoulder. Everything felt so perfect...
Her cell phone rang. Groaning, Karyn pulled herself away from Heero and flipped it open. "Karyn."
"Hey Karyn. It's Duo. Listen, I'm not going to be getting back until tomorrow morning."
"What!? I left my key inside the apartment!"
"That's your fault."
"Well, I thought you would be back." She sighed. "S'okay, I'll find somewhere else to stay. Bye."
"Ciao."
Karyn flipped the phone closed, then made her best puppy-dog expression, making sure her eyes were watery, and looked at Heero.
"I don't think I'm going to like this," he said, backing off a little.
"Heero," she said pitifully. "I need someplace to stay tonight. I locked myself out, and Duo won't be back till tomorrow."
"B- but if we're, you know, then you can't stay over! It wouldn't be right!"
Again, the puppy-eyes.
Heero sweatdropped. "Fine, you can stay for the night."
"Yay!" Karyn said happily. She leaned forward quickly and began kissing Heero again, this time with more feeling.
Heero closed his eyes. `Well, this isn't so bad...'
~~~~~~~~
That night, Heero was sleeping on the couch. He had insisted on giving Karyn the bed, since she was a guest. He was thinking about how he really felt about her...
~~~~~~~~
Nikki: We interrupt your regularly scheduled fanfic to bring you something totally cool. Please welcome Mark Barry, Christian Burns, and Ste McNally... BBMak!
*Instantly, BBMak appears on the stage, and the chairs are filled with screaming girls.*
Screaming girls: Yay! We want BBMak!
Nikki: Quiet down for a sec!
*Screaming fans stop screaming*
Nikki: Thanks.
Ste: What are we doing here?
Nikki: I want to put a song in the middle of my fanfic. Gotta problem with that?
Mark: Actually, not really. What do you want us to do?
Nikki: Back here.
Uranus: C'mon, you can tell them here.
Nikki: No that's the song, `Back Here.'
Uranus: Oh.
*Christian and Ste's guitars appear in front of them, and microphones appear on holders in front of each of them. Christian and Ste pick up their guitars.*
Nikki: This song is supposed to describe how Heero felt about Karyn before he found her again. Girls, you may began screaming now.
Screaming girls: Yay!
Mark: Okay, `Back Here.' One, two, ready, go!
"Baby set me free from this misery
I can't take it no more
Since you went away nothing's been the same
Don't know what I'm living for
Here I am, so alone
And there's nothing in this world I can do
"Until you're back here baby
Miss you, want you, need you so
Until you're back here baby
There's a feeling inside I want you to know
You are the one and I can't let you go
"So I told you lies, even made you cry
Baby, I was so wrong
Girl I promise you, now my love is true
This is where my heart belongs.
Cos I'm here, so alone
And there's nothing in this world I can do
"Until you're back here baby
Miss you, want you, need you so
Until you're back here baby
There's a feeling inside I want you to know
You are the one and I can't let you go
"And I wonder, are you thinking of me
Cos I'm thinking of you
And I wonder
Are you ever coming back in my life?
Cos here I am, so alone
And there's nothing in this world I can do
"Until you're back here baby
Miss you, want you, need you so
Until you're back here baby
There's a feeling inside I want you to know
You are the one and I can't let you go."
Screaming fans: Yay!
Ste Fan: Ste, we love you!
Mark Fan: Mark's better!
Christian Fans 1 and 2: No, Christian's better!
Nikki: Security!
*Security drags the four girls off*
Nikki: Hey, thanks guys that was awesome.
Uranus: Totally. Hope we see you again!
Mark: Well, we hope we can come and sing again.
Ste: It's been a pleasure.
Christian: See you girls later!
Nikki: Bye! *snaps, and BBMak disappears* Okay, now, back to the fanfic!
~~~~~~~~
The next morning, Relena called Dorothy.
"Dorothy, it's was so horrible! You wouldn't believe it!"
"Relena-sama, it's five in the morning," Dorothy said, yawning. "Trust me, I will believe almost anything."
"I went to Heero's apartment, and he was kissing a girl!"
Now Dorothy was wide-awake. "Really?" she asked, interested. "Who was it?"
"I don't know, but she had this awful bleached hair, and blue eyes that were probably just contacts. And he didn't even come after me when I ran out. It was horrible!"
"Relena-sama, maybe you should go back this morning and talk to him."
"That's a good idea, Dorothy."
"I'll drive over and pick you up."
"But it's a three hour drive from your home to mine!"
`I don't want to miss this.' "That's okay, I really don't mind."
"Okay. Thank you so much, you're such a good friend."
*Four hours later*
"Tell me again why you're taking a video camera," Relena asked.
Dorothy shifted the camera to a more comfortable position. "So you'll have a tape of... when Heero apologizes," Dorothy lied.
"Good idea. Let's go!"
Someone knocked on the door, and Heero and Karyn both looked up. "I'll get it," Karyn volunteered, walking over. She placed one hand on the gun on the small table and opened the door. When she saw it was Relena, she let go of the gun.
The door opened, and Relena got ready for Heero. Instead, it was Karyn.
Relena gasped, and Dorothy smiled. `Good thing I had a charged battery and a spare tape,' she thought. `This is gonna get good!'
`She's still here?' Relena thought in shock. `Heero didn't... he couldn't have... oh m'god!'
"You..." was all Relena could say. A look of pure anger crossed her face. Karyn stepped back.
"Karyn," Relena heard Heero call. "Who is it?"
"YOU SLUT!" Relena exploded, slapping Karyn across her left cheek. "You slept with my Heero!"
Dorothy was grinning now. `Maybe I can send this to Jerry Springer.'
"What the fuck are you talking about!?" Karyn yelled.
"Relena!?" Heero asked, running over.
"Heero, love, this woman has seduced you! I don't blame you, you're only a man, but this woman can't even bleach her own hair right! How dare you take my love away from his true feelings!"
"One," Karyn said, clenching her fists, "my hair is natural. Two, I did not sleep with Heero."
"Liar!" Relena yelled.
"And three," Karyn continued. "no one slaps me and gets away with it." And she punched Relena in the jaw.
Dorothy stepped aside and zoomed in on Relena as she stumbled backwards.
"Heero," Relena pleaded. "Tell this girl how much in love we are, how we would follow each other to the end of the Earth for each other."
`She sure stalked me pretty far.' "That's not true."
"Heero," Relena said softly. "You'be being brain-washed by this woman. She's lured you away from your morals, led you to commit the most heinous of acts with her."
"For the last time, I did not sleep with him!" Karyn yelled.
"Relena, Dorothy, Karyn, what's up, girls?" Duo said, walking down the hall towards them. "Karyn, I got you your own key. You can come into my apartment whenever you want now. Just knock first, kay?"
"You too?" Relena gasped. "This slut has brainwashed you too, Duo?"
Duo stopped in his tracks. "Karyn? A slut? What the hell are you talking about?"
"I bet she slept with you too!"
"What kind of a guy do you think I am!?" Then he did a double take. "Karyn, you sle-"
"No I didn't!" Karyn yelled. "I'm a virgin! Give me a break!"
"Heero," Relena said. "Show your love, tell this girl to leave!"
"If you like that psycho, you should have told me from the start," Karyn said angrily. "I'm leaving!" She began storming down the hall. Relena looked at Heero hopefully. Duo had gotten popcorn from somewhere and was eating it like he was watching a movie. Dorothy kept the tape going.
`I don't want Karyn to leave, but I don't want to make Relena mad. Ah, fuck this!'
"Karyn!" Heero yelled, running after her. "Stop!"
Karyn stopped and turned around, tears welling up in her eyes. Heero came up and put his hands on her shoulders.
"Go to her," she sobbed.
"I want to be with you."
Karyn looked into his eyes, then threw her arms around his neck and hugged him while she cried. Relena stormed off down the other way, towards the stairs.
Karyn and Heero kissed, and Dorothy taped it, then pressed stop when they broke away, embarrassed. Duo handed Dorothy the last of his popcorn, and she accepted.
"Thanks."
"What's the tape for, anyway?"
"I'm going to enter it in an amateur home video contest. The prize is a trip to five places around the world and ten thousand dollars spending money."
"Sounds cool."
Heero and Karyn were still hugging, and Dorothy finished off the popcorn.
