"Jilly"
What can I say about this girl? She has achieved every dream I had for her when we began training in obedience... and THEN some! I am very proud of Jilly. She's a wonderful obedience performer and a first-rate companion. Our next adventures include the Open ring and rally-style obedience, a new AKC event that centers upon the heeling exercise -- the cornerstone of obedience competition. We will probably try agility at some point, as well.
Jilly has taken some time off from obedience due to a torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament). Jilly's knee has been repaired, and we hope to be back in obedience in 2003.
Jilly's accomplishments in obedience include:
AKC
Finished her AKC novice title with an average score of 194.7
Top-scoring Malamute in the U.S. in 1999 (MQ ratings system)
AMCA's 1999 "Blackhawk Memorial Award" Winner
1999 AMCA National Specialty High in Trial Winner
Highest Scoring Working Dog in Trial in all-breed competition
Of her six scores, ALL were in the 190s, including two 195.5s and two 196.5s
Won her class five of the six times she was shown
UKC
Finished UKC novice title in one weekend (scores: 195++, 196 and 187... class placements with all three scores)
Won a 3-way runoff with a top agility Australian shepherd and an AKC UDX-titled Border terrier for first place at her final UKC trial.
Other
Highest score to date in competition: 199
Scored 195 at first rally obedience trial in April, 2001
Jilly made me proud when she won High in Trial at the
1999 Alaskan Malamute Club of America National Specialty with a score of 196.5.
This tremendous win was the highlight of Jilly's novice career.
Jilly won this first place at the Tulsa Dog Training Club's trial just after the national, again scoring 196.5...this score was one point behind the High in Trial winner, and earned her Highest Scoring Working Dog in Trial. This was a large trial, drawing some of the midwest area's top dogs and handlers. There were more than 20 dogs entered in Jilly's class alone.
What's THATdog doing in FIRST PLACE? LOL
Judge Diane Probst told me after our run that we were "a nice surprise."
