OLIVE AND CHRISTINE’S HOME PAGE

We are mother and daughter living in a village outside Colchester in England. We are actively involved in crafts which include quilling, patchwork, sewing, making plaster of Paris magnets, Decoupage (flat and 3D) and stamp embossing.

We both originally became involved in crafts through ill health, but as time went on the type of crafts we have been involved in has grown.

We started off with patchwork and sewing. Around 6 years ago we were introduced to quilling. This is a craft also known as paper filigree and is a method of using strips of paper usually 2mm, 3mm, 5mm or 10mm wide by 450mm in length (which are either torn or glued together to the required length). These strips are then rolled to make coils, glued, which can then be pinched to desired shape. They can also be rolled tightly to form pegs or they could be coiled to form scrolls, hearts etc. All of these help to form the main basic shapes of quilling. More advance techniques include alternate side looping, double rolling and reverse rolling. Once the basic technique has been established the craft is fairly easy with one of the hardest things we both found was being able to keep things in proportion. Below are some examples of our work using J.J. Quilling and Pat Green designs, but there is no reason why your own patterns can not be used.
