Intro
I created this site to document my get-a-way place in Robertson County, Kentucky for my friends and
anyone else who might be interested.
The logo on the home page was created by entering all of the angles and distances on the deed.
Next, I adjusted the size to match an aerial photograph. I put a grid on both pictures and used the
grid to locate the wooded areas, grasslands, pond, creek, barns and house, etc.
The place itself is somewhere between 228 and 230 acres. Almost entirely hilly, in fact there isn't
very much flat land at all.
I'm currently trying to groom the place to improve wildlife habitat. Which means bush hogging the
grasslands on a three year rotation, stop cutting the steep hills and along the creek.
When I bought the place it didn't have a livable house, so I stayed in a camper for the first few years.
In August of 1996, after much debate of the pros and cons of the different options, I started
construction of a small house. I had help hand digging the holes for the pier footings, putting up the
roof trusses, putting on the roof sheeting and the shingles. All other work was done by me by myself.
It isn't completely finished and probably never will never be. But as the pictures show, it is far enough
along to be livable and quite comfortable. The progress of this is documented in the house construction section.
Armed with my new digital zoom camera, I hope to take some wildlife pictures, if the animals
will cooperate. These pictures will be in the wildlife section.
The landscape section will have pictures of various locations within the property.
If any of this sounds interesting to you, then page through the site and enjoy.
