This is one hell of a speed demon.

When we tested the '99 drifter, I was having difficulty adjusting to the speed that this board was able to gather. Nevertheless, the board is pretty responsive and does provide a better hold on the edge due to the 'swallow tail' tip and the 4 fins placement.

One thing about this board is that it has a pretty 'mild' rocker, so we don't experience the 'extra' lift off the wake when it comes to pops. However, one point to note, for the 2000 and 2001 series, Hyperlite has been increasing its rocker, so riders can expect more explosive pops coming up from the latest range. The new 'double bump' swallow tail on the 2001 drifter, not only allows the board to sit deep in the water, it also increased the tip's surface area, giving a bigger pop off the wake.

Anyway, just a little inside info; heard from Paul of Cowabunga that the drifter is selling pretty well....guess it's juz typical of locals, wanting everything fast....and faster. =)
