Ok, so I'm no wonder rider, but this was my first board.
Big, strong and listens to what it's told. Getting up was a breeze.
The sheer width of the board was a big plus for newbies. (My beginner
sister got up the first time! and stayed there). Well, at first I thought
that this was some newbie board, but later on, I was told by Ryan
that if I learn to pop properly, I would be airborne for sure.
Later, got the big boat to pull me with its monster wakes (well for
my standards at least) - I was up there.
Landing with the 'Reflection' was something of an ease. That 'flup' sound that denotes nice landings was a common radio wave heard. Once again, the width of the board was forgiving on many areas - including against potential face plunges. Sluggish? No, sharp rails were heaven sent and helped balance the board out when cutting hard. However, don't expect to hit that wake at big speeds. Surface tricks again were really easy as it's broad base helped spinning around on the water surface. Lip slides were easy and as a newbie I did that alot of it as it helped with the familiarization of water mechanics. Overall it was a great learning board and I was happy to own it, but I would have been happier riding a thinner and slimmer board as I now know my riding style. It is all about the rider. As a newbie, I suggest that other newbies should not go and get what their friends are getting, instead, talk to other riders and ask them what they think about board mechanics rather than anything else - Length, width, rocker, rails and the type of fins - all play a big part. If you are a person that rams into the wake and enjoy going very very fast while cutting you might want a quicker board, if you are a monster and like a big holding board, a wider base might be your thing. Whatever it is, ride on, be it a Harley or wakeboard it's all the same to me, as Bikinis are still a big part. -LukeG Give us your comments. |
