Fake Razor's Vengeance Preview
12/4/01
This Sunday at Vengeance, for the very first time (If you don't count Lou Thesz in 1949) an Undisputed World Champion will be crowned. December PPV's usually follow a simple pattern, MEDIOCRITY. I can't remember a good December WWF PPV. Let's dive right in and see if this PPV will follow that pattern.
Women's Championship:
Trish Stratus (c) vs. Jacqueline:
This will be a typical women's match. Nothing special, pretty boring, and over quick. Trish will retain, as she is probably the top female in the WWF right now. If they are honestly trying to do something with this title again, why take it off of their most popular female and put it one someone with no TV time?
My Prediction: Trish Retains
Tag Team Championship:
The Dudley Boyz (c) vs. Big Show and Kane
I honestly forgot that the Dudleys were tag champs.
This match defines the term "piss break." The ultra stale Dudleys take on the ultra slow and ultra boring Big Show and Kane. Why the hell are they aligned again? Oh yeah, The Big Show needs a new partner every week. God, they really dropped the ball with Paul Wight. Anyway, this will be a slow paced match, with the Dudleys stupid trademark moves involved. I see tables getting involved, but with Big Show and Kane coming out on top *sigh*. At least there's no Ass Fuck on the card.
My Prediction: New WWF Tag Team Champions, Big Show and Kane
Intercontinental Championship:
Edge (c) vs. William Regal
This is a match with some potential. Their styles are a little different, but if they get a good 30 minutes, Regal's style will shine, and I think Edge will adapt well to Regal's more systematic way of wrestling. This will be a stiff and well fought battle, with some nice counters and submissions. Overall, it will be a solid match. Edge seems to be getting a big push though, so he's my pick to win.
My Prediction: Edge retains
Grudge Match:
Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy
Special Guest Referee: Lita
Finally, The Hardys appear to be breaking up. They had a good run, like them or not (I personally don't like them, but their matches used to entertain me). This match will be a spot fest, but it will be very entertaining.
This is what I see happening. I see Matt Hardy getting Jeff in a pinning predicament, but Matt gets angry at Lita when he doesn't get the 3 count. Matt and Lita are fighting, and eventually Lita slaps him. Matt finally snaps, and gives her the Twist of Fate. Lita rolls out of the ring and is down for a while. Jeff starts to bitch at Matt for what he had done, and they start to brawl again. Matt has the upper hand at first, and goes for the Twist of Fate but then Lita turns on Matt and hits him with a chair. Jeff hits the Swanton for the win in a storied battle. Jeff leaves with Lita at the end, leaving Matt all alone. This feud probably won't be over yet, Matt will be the heel, with Jeff and Lita as the faces.
My Prediction: Jeff Hardy wins
Hardcore Championship:
Rob Van Dam (c) vs. The Undertaker
Ugh, why did this match have to happen? I really, really, REALLY hope RVD doesn't bust Taker open. I think RVD will tone his style down a lot for this match, because if he does do something Taker doesn't like, its JTTS for Rob for a while. This match won't be anything special at all. I hope Taker sells RVD's offense.
Kane will probably interfere due to Taker's recent heel turn, setting up ANOTHER Kane/Taker feud. Hey, its what Mark wants before he hangs it up, so it has to happen sooner or later.
My Prediction: RVD retains, due to interference by Kane
World Championship:
The Rock (c) vs. Chris Jericho
This match has the potential to be great. I hope that it reaches the caliber that their MOTY candidate at No Mercy did. The Rock will bring out the best in Jericho, and vice versa. If Jericho doesn't blow any spots, this should be an awesome match. It will be VERY close fought until the end, with many trademark maneuvers used. The Rock will win in the end.
My Prediction: The Rock Retains
WWF Championship:
Stone Cold Steve Austin (c) vs. Kurt Angle
This match will be another classic. Hopefully it will be as well fought out as their previous battles. In the end, Stone Cold will retain, setting up for a huge Main Event tonight.
My Prediction: Stone Cold retains
Unified World Championship:
Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. The Rock
This is really the perfect time for this match. For one, this will be an awesome match, and if they take care of it now, we won't have ANOTHER Austin vs Rock at Wrestlemania. Another closely fought and storied match will lead to *GASP* Triple H interference. Triple H will interfere and pedigree Stone Cold, allowing The Rock to get the win.
My Prediction: The Rock unifies the World titles
Triple H Interference explanation:
The next night on RAW, Triple H comes out and demands that he is placed in the Main event for Wrestlemania. He says that if it wasn't for him, The Rock wouldn't have beaten Austin. (This gets him booed heavily) He goes on cutting up The Rock, effectively establishing him as a heel again. The Rock comes out, and says you got it, at Wrestlemania, my unified title is up against you. Here comes Ric Flair. He says that Austin was screwed by Triple H (major cheers, keeping Austin and Flair faces) and sets up a match for that night. Triple H vs. Stone Cold. The winner gets a shot at Wrestlemania, and the loser has to enter the Royal Rumble. Triple H loses, and has to enter the Rumble. Triple H wins the Royal Rumble, setting up the rumored 3 way at Wrestlemania between Stone Cold, The Rock, and Triple H.
Overall, this could be a decent PPV. They have a pretty good card to work with, lets hope they don't drop the ball. I'd say its worth the $30 price tag.
