The
Canadian Navy was formed in 1910. Its
foundation and early development were clearly influenced by the Royal Navy.
It has, however, developed its own customs and traditions.
The Canadian Navy's fleet is split between the Atlantic and the Pacific. Maritime Forces Pacific (MARPAC), based in Esquimalt, British Columbia, is home to the Navy's west coast fleet. Halifax, Nova Scotia is home to Maritime Forces Atlantic (MARLANT), the home port of the Navy's east coast fleet.
Note that this site is in no way affiliated with the Canadian Navy, Department of National Defence or other similar organization. This site is the product of my interest in naval ships, particularly Canadian, and has been created for both web development experience and my own personal interest. I have provided links to various official sites, including those for various ships in the Canadian fleet.

The
information gathered and presented here has been obtained from a number
of sources. Some of the photographs on the site have been taken by
myself, with others obtained over the internet from various Canadian Navy
and other sources. My goal is to try and replace as many of these
other photographs as possible with my own (or those of others interested
in the naval ships). There are a few individuals and organizations
that I would like to acknowledge.
The site is basically divided into the six main classes of ships currently in service. I have also compiled a complete list of all ships, alphabetically, by commissioning date, and listed by Atlantic and Pacific fleets.
If you have photos (scanned or in original form) of Canadian Navy ships, particularly from the west coast fleet, that you would be willing to share, I would be very much interested. I would also be interested in photos taken of Canadian ships on visits to other foreign ports. If you have any such photos, please contact me at wilson9403@home.com. I would also be interested in stickers and/or Welcome Aboard brochures of various Canadian ships.
With the growing number of photographs being added throughout the site, I have created an image index to provide a single location to browse through all of the photographs here. I will be creating a similar index for the Nato warships area, so check back for that.
I hope you enjoy your visit to the
site, and encourage you to return often. I will attempt to update and
add additional information on a regular basis. I would appreciate any
comments or suggestions you may have. I can be reached at wilson9403@home.com.
Anyone interested in having a link
added to my site, please drop me a line.
Halifax,
as the home of the Canadian Navy's Atlantic fleet is a frequent port stop
for ships of other NATO countries.
I have created a "mini site" of some of
Halifax's more recent visitors from NATO.
Stay tuned for more information an more photos from recent port visits.
