(Community Awareness for Transgender Support) has opened a small halfway house in Galveston for transgenders who would otherwise be homeless. The facility has been up and running since mid-February of this year. </div> <bR> <div> For the past few months, we have been quietly learning through trial and error.  For far too long our community has been turned away from “mainstream” shelters. We are attempting to help our community take its first tentative steps toward assisting those of us whose only options seemed to be the streets or prostitution. </div> <bR> <div> This venture thus far has been entirely supported by the generosity of the CATS membership.
