9-11-01 Tribute
The Banning High School Class of 1974
wishes to dedicate this page
to all of those who needlessly suffered
as a result of the attacks on
the World Trade Center
and
the United States Pentagon
on Tuesday, September 11, 2001 A.D.
Our hearts, our thoughts, and our prayers go out to all who gave the supreme sacrifice in these brutal attacks on our freedom.
They go out to all of those who were injured.
They go out to all of those participating in the rescue and clean-up efforts.
They go out to Our Nation's leaders -- President Bush, Vice-President Cheney, and the United States Congress.
They go out to all members of Our Nation's law enforcement agencies.
They go out to all members of Our Nation's Military Forces.
They go out to all of their families and friends.
And they go out to all of America.
"LEST WE FORGET"
In the midst of this global tragedy we must remember that it is the
responsibility of each of us to condemn all hateful behavior.
THOU SHALT NOT KILL
Thou shall not kill the spontaneous laughter of a child.
Thou shall not kill the enthusiasm of one who eagerly pursues what he loves to do.
Thou shall not kill the innocence of a fragile soul.
Thou shall not kill the fruitful ideas of others.
Thou shall not kill the good reputations of those you envy.
Thou shall not kill the time you have each day to help another.
Thou shall not kill the spirit of joy in any other person.

WE ARE AMERICA
As the soot and dirt and ash rained down,
We became one color.
As we carried each other down the stairs of the burning building
We became one class.
As we lit candles of waiting and hope
We became one generation.
As the firefighters and police officers fought their way into the inferno
We became one gender.
As we fell to our knees in prayer for strength,
We became one faith.
As we whispered or shouted words of encouragement,
We spoke one language.
As we gave our blood in lines a mile long,
We became one body.
As we mourned together the great loss
We became one family.
As we cried tears of grief and loss
We became one soul.
As we retell with pride of the sacrifice of heroes
We become one people.
We are...
One color
One class
One generation
One gender
One faith
One language
One body
One family
One soul
One people
We are The Power of One. One Nation, Under God, Indivisible.
We are United.
We are America.
