Agoonoree '98

Agoonoree is an annual camp that welcomes Scouts and Guides both able and disabled. It provides an opportunity to : build friendships, learn from each other, have adventure and challenges in an atmosphere of fun.

This was my second Agoonoree. Having attened the 9th NSW last year.
It was my 1st time as a Venturer. I was a sites and services member under the leadership of Alison Kane and Paul.
Our job was to keep the camp running smoothly and keep people happy. This included gas and ice drops. Organisation of tables and benches. Help in putting up of Marquees, preparing the flag for parade, collecting garbage bins and anything else useful, like helping Ben Preist with the disco lights.

At times it got real boring sitting around doing nothing, but when it got busy , boy did it get busy. This busy period normally occured after lunch.During the quiter times I assisted Dot at the Memorabilia tent.

One of our special tasks was on the last day were we filled up 250 + ballons with Helium, we were the luck ones who had to tie the knots and strings onto the ballons.

Left to Right : Nikki, Stephen, Patrick (Guiness), Penny, Sam, Paul, Alison, Me & Russell

We were also called upon to host the gambiling / auction night on Monday for the leaders. This was a huge success. With BlackJack tables & a Roultte Wheel to name a few of the games available. I co-manned the Roulette table.

The sites and services team also ran in the Agoonoree Challege through Challange Valley - a commando course.
We came a Gallant 4th.

After the Challange

It would be great to see more Golden West Representatives at the 11th NSW Agoonoree 1999.
