By Grace, Not Law:
I want to tie this in with my Day of the Lord page, I think the Lord Day is Destruction and Deliverance, or rebuilding the walls, or putting off the old and putting on the new. Its following the Lord in His regeneration of us.
Because a lot of Christians keep asking me, Jim you don't go to a Church, you say you are not under the Law. You think you can do anything you want. I tell them that its is the Lord, that is doing the work in me, and if I get off the path, by there way if thinking, I ask them to pray for me, And don't judge before time, and that God isn't done with me yet.
God is the one that corrects me, And I know its by His strength, not mine own. By staying in the Word, I know that God is in control and is taking care of me and directing my path. Do I mess up, yes I do, Do I have a long ways to go, yes I do, But thank God I am not where I used to be. I know my only hope is in my Lord and Savior, I do the best I can, and am depending on the Spirit, and the Word to change my thinking. I am a sinner save my grace, not by what I do, but letting the Spirit change me. I can never be good enough to please God, Its not my rightness, but His rightness. He is the only one that can clean the heart. I have tried all my life to do good, and be a good Catholic, and always just kept getting worst, by trying to do it on my own, and by the Law. That was the curse of the Law. Its letting go, and letting God
I hope later on that I can find a Church, or a place where I fit in. I think that pure Religion is just helping one another out, minding my own business, and trying to do good where I am at. But my thinking has very little to do with it. Its God timing.
1 Pet 5:10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
We walk by faith, not by sight.
I have notes, that I may add later on, this being one of my first studies, after stopping to go to Church. But for the time being I am going to put a link to (Ward Fenley Page). He writes just about what I have studied, and says it a lot better.
(Who are the Jews, Catholics, or any denomination or religious group of anykind? If they not born again, they are of the world. they may be doing good as far as the world goes, but if there not trusting in Jesus, there work is in vain. Which includes people that are trying to work there way in the Kingdom by the law and good works. Which is good, but it don’t save you.)
Psa 127:1 Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain.
(Like Paul says in)
Gal 1:3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
And like Col 2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.
(Or even after the ten commandants of God, which purpose was to bring us to Jesus. And once we know God, through Jesus is the only way to God, we are made anew by the Spirit by beleiving in the Word of God, which is Jesus and God.)
Gal 3:23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
(The Law was passing away.) - 2 Cor 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
2 Cor 3:13 And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:
14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same veil untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which veil is done away in Christ.
Acts 13:38 "Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through Him forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you,
39 and through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things, from which you could not be freed through the Law of Moses.
John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
John 5:45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.
(Don’t turn back. Keep trusting in our Lord. Don’t trust in the Law to save you, or being good enough.)
Acts 7:38 This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:
39 To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,
Gal 3:19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
Gal 6:13 For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh.
14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
2 Cor 3:3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshly tables of the heart.
4 And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:
5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?
9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.
10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.
11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.
12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:
13 And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:
14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same veil untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which veil is done away in Christ.
15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart.
16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away.
17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
(The Old Covenant has passed away, God is bringing us into the New Covenant. Which our life is hid in Jesus. Col 3:3.)
Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Heb 8:13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
Heb 12:24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
Isa 55:3 Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
Rom 7:14-24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
What am I saying that we don't keep the Law? No! But only by God Grace are we able. Our old nature is if the flesh, It is only by His Spirit that He make's us willing and able.
Here is a link, its long, but its good. Check it out.
So without God, We can do nothing good. What have we got that we haven't received?
(Jn 1:16). It begins with God's grace and continues with a constant unfolding of that grace. His grace is supremely expressed to us through His kindness in Christ Jesus. Grace is appropriated through faith and is intended to result in good works. We are not capable of good works until He makes us His new work of art, the new creation in Christ.
From Holman Dictinary:
Eternal life is indestructible ( 1 Cor. 15:42-57; 1 Pet. 1:23), though threatened by the devil, the law, and death. The devil attempts to destroy this life ( Matt. 10:28; Luke 12:4-5; 1 Pet. 5:8), but he is not able to harm it for God protects the believer (Rom. 8:7-39; Eph. 6:10-18). The Law threatens this life by tempting people to believe that they can attain this life by their own efforts 2 Cor 3:4-6&language=english&version=KJV (Rom. 7:10,13; 2 Cor. 3:4-6). Death is also an enemy of true life, but it is powerless to destroy the life that God gives (23:4;33:18-19;89:48;116:3-4,8-9;118:18&language=english&version=KJV Pss. 9:13b-14; 23:4; 33:18-19; 89:48; 116:3-4,8-9; 118:18;6:9-10;7:24,25;8:11,35-39;&language=english&version=KJV Rom. 5:12-21; 6:9-10; 7:24-8:11, 35-39; Cor. 15:51-57; Gal. 6:8; Titus 3:7).
John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
Rom 9:11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)
Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
1 Th 2:1212 That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.
13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief
Eph 1:4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. In love
5 He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will,
1 Pet 1:2 God the Father chose you long ago, and the Spirit has made you holy. As a result, you have obeyed Jesus Christ and are cleansed by his blood. May you have more and more of God's special favor and wonderful peace.
3 All honor to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, for it is by his boundless mercy that God has given us the privilege of being born again. Now we live with a wonderful expectation because Jesus Christ rose again from the dead.
4 For God has reserved a priceless inheritance for his children. It is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.
5 And God, in his mighty power, will protect you until you receive this salvation, because you are trusting him. It will be revealed on the last day for all to see.
1 Pet 5:10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
1 Pet 1:6 In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials,
7 that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
2 Cor 4:16 That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.
17 For our present troubles are quite small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us an immeasurably great glory that will last forever!
18 So we don't look at the troubles we can see right now; rather, we look forward to what we have not yet seen. For the troubles we see will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever.
Rev 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
(Keep it simple, letting go and let God, He is the one fighting our battles. By trusting in Him, to do the work in us. He is the one that is building the temple, the Body of Christ, the Church. If we are trusting in Christ, and have been born again from above. He has overcame the world. Without him we can do nothing. We overcome in Him, though the revelation of His Word, reveal by our Father in heaven. Then its by the relevelation of God the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit, that is building the Church.)
Mat 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Mat 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Zec 4:6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
Eph 2:7 in order that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
9 not as a result of works, that no one should boast.
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Rom 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
2 Pet 1:10 So, dear friends, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Doing this, you will never stumble or fall away.
11 And God will open wide the gates of heaven for you to enter into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
