1/6/01 ! I went to the backwater last night and the water was right on schedule!!!!!! It was tough last night but I got 2 gallons by trolling for them but they were NOT running. Some sorry mothertrucker stole my boat trailer while I was gone shrimping right at the riverbreeze ramp!!!!!It was a piece of shirt trailer but the ONLY one I had!! Lucky (edited by Jethro)
1/07 went to Blackpoint but the water is so low the trout were few. Did see redfish, but didn't feel like wading and the ones near shore were always on the OTHER shoreline. Who let the birdwatchers out? Could have limited out on them. Only one bait shop had shrimp and they were dinky. If that tells you anything. saltycracker
1/9 Saw a few boats under the Titusville bridge running generators and deep lights snatching shrimp left to right. Could not sink my starfire deep enough but was able to get 1 for every 20 of theirs. Got disgusted and left @ 930 It looked like the light was driving them up, go figure. 50s with light NW wind. James

2/1/01, The Insane Shrimp Possefrom Orange City was humiliated by the shrimp at Oak Hill last night to thetune of 30 shrimp. We only had one dip net because we had to use Clammys netpole as an antenna so we could watch Survivor. We decided to play some Survivorof our own when I bet Clammy two Moon Pies that he could not eat a live shrimp.I thought everyone on earth knew that when eating a live shrimp, you put it inyour mouth tail first and it will shoot itself down your throat backwards.Clammy tried to eat this jumbo shrimp headfirst and it speared him in thetonsil and got stuck. Clammy managed to throw up everything without dislodgingthe shrimp. What made this extra ugly was the fact that Clammy had just eatenan entire bag of fried gizzards from the Geneva Hooters (Handy Way) and theycreated a lumpy oil slick in the river that extended about a mile behind theboat. I finally had to reach in Clammys mouth with a pair of pliers to removethe shrimp. I want to get the shrimp mounted and am looking for a taxidermistwho will stuff it along with the two Moon Pies to hang on the wall in mytrailer. The Shrimp Slayer

2/13/01, The Insane Shrimp Posse from Orange Cityrounded up 1.5 Gallons of shrimp at Oak Hill last night. The shrimp wererunning deep so we just held our hoop nets about 5 feet under water and everytime we checked them we had between 3 and 6 shrimp. We also had a box net thatdid pretty good, but we have not perfected adjusting its depth. Around 11:30 aWildlife Officer stopped to check us and said we could only have one shrimp netper person and was going to give us a ticket, Before he could even startwriting the ticket Clammy had reached into the bottom drawer of his tackle boxand pulled out Polly Urethane his blow up girlfriend and started to inflateher. The cop was stunned and decided not to write us a ticket. I quit aroundMidnight. Clammy and Polly decided to stay out all night and celebrateValentines Day. The Shrimp Slayer

03/08/01, The Insane Shrimp Posse from Orange Cityopened up a can of whoop ass on the shrimp at Haulover Canal to the tune of 2gallons of Super Maxi Jumbos. We were handicapped more than normal last nightdue to the fact that Clammy was half blind and The Shrimp Slayer had to tellhim when and where to dip. With hopes of improving his shrimping Clammy went toa discount laser eye surgery place in a Sanford strip mall and used a two forone coupon from the Penny Saver to get laser surgery on Thursday morning. HisIndian doctor named Bob said he should rest his eyes Thursday Night, But Clammyfigured if he christened his new eyeballs shrimping he would become a supershrimper like me. Clammy paid the extra $29.00 per eye for the Night VisionPackage, but personally I think it was a scam and I thought I saw Dr. Bobworking at the Titusville 7-11 last month. The Red Fish were also hitting inHaulover canal, but our fishing rods went flying out of the boat when Clammywent over the railroad tracks at 80mph on our way to shrimping. All in all it wasanother ISP success story, nobody hurt or arrested. The Shrimp Slayer
03/08/01 HC/ OH backwaters, 47 degrees and calm,Water temp was high 60s, 1 gallon large-jumbo/2 gallons small-medium. Meand Dave went ti HC at sundown and dipped some nice shrimp till 1030. I hadanother friend Vince come out in his boat and he did about as good. While I wasout there I mentioned to Dave that I haven't heard from "TheShimpslayer" in a while and talked about some of his colorful stories, when I thought I heard him mention "Wow what a red!" I believewe were in the same spot Clammy threw the net on the NASA guy. Got to thebackwaters of Edgewater at 1230 for the tide change. Right off the bat we weredipping small shrimp when the wind started from the west and it got cold.Dipped till 230 and headed back to Riverbreeze. Didn't see anyone dippingin edgewater, the wingnetters did not have their nets deployed and saw a fewdipping around the RB area. Got home at 4 and snoozed. Jethro

03/14/01, Riverbreeze, Air temperature and direction:s/sw 10, Water temperature: 70, 2 gal med to large, Was a dark and stormynight, I was sitting at my shrimping station, when all of of sudden a jack nutin a white roballo appeared and anchored 10 feet up current from me. It realyupset me so i yelled SHIMP, SHIMP, SHIMP!.What to my my dismay they stayed allnight in my way. So my brothers making a pizza, oh ya, back to the shimping. AsI discovered on the last trip it does't hurt to use some chum , only this timeit went into the back of the boat all over my beverage can collection, what amess. Got about 250 shrimp 50/50 dipping and box net. All in all a fun night,no blue lights or puke stained clothes to explain to my wife, she likes it likethat. Be safe and dont anchor in front of me or I'll throw a big bag of mysecret chum on you back. Cuzzydoo.
3/14/01, River Breeze, Mild, calm, 1 1/2 gallons,Shrimp were running deep, unfortunately my friends frame net is not set upright to adjust for depth. I will fix that before next trip. Shrimp would runpretty good for a while and then quit then run again. Their hearts just weren'tin it. All in all not a bad nite.Since I was by myself it was the equivalent of3 gallons with one buddy and a limit with two, so no bitches. I just need a fewmore 5 gallon solo trips like last Wednesday so I can get the freezer full.Brad B
3/15/01, Haulover, 70s sw, 240 jumbos, ran wellfrom 10pm to 2:30am. perfect weather, current, and shrimp. everyone was doingwell. wasn't even that crowded. Ted
03/15/01, Riverbreeze, Mid 70's and variable, 11/2 gal, Once again Riverbreeze provided a night to remember. It all startedwith another day of avoiding work, as some of you know it is very hard to workwhen you have shimp on the brain. The water was dirty and full of weeds. Lotsof other boats on the water, most looked like they were dipping pretty steady.Shrimp ran early, around 7 PM. Stopped all together by 11 . Most memorable partof the evening was watching the 160 foot barge try to go thru the channel. Lotsof people seemed to think that if you anchor in the middle of the channel firstthen you don't have to move. People get a grip , and I don't mean on yourprivates. No chum used last night, maybe not enough barley, hops spring water.Till next time, shimp on... Cuzzydoo
3/16/01, Oak Hill, Westwind, 5 knots, About 1 1/2 gals,Wind blew hard before sundown. Tide was at 7 and shrimp started fairly good buttapered off. Water was dirty and shrimp were running deep until chased to thesurface by small trout. We quit at 10 and it's possible there was another runafter we left. Many jellyfish in certain areas. Rudy Enders
3/16/01, HC, 70s, W to NW, 6 dozen jumbos, waterwas messy but the shrimp came slow and steady with little current. Lots oftrout to push the shrimp to the surface. not many people out there so all inall it was an ok night. Jethro
3/17 went to River Breeze. Went to backwater andgot about 1/2gal. Only highlight was a small manta ray hauling ass around theboat catching micro-crap. Robert
3/17 Saturday, Riverbreeze, too cold for thechicks, 50 - 70 shrimp, We decided to do something crazy, and talked the wifesinto going with so that we could use the extra nets. We coaxed them with redwine and cheese. But when we got out there we unveiled the Natural Lights and Funyuns.Started out dipping right away, the women too, always remeber to bring tenjackets when you bring the chicks. They were freezing! Since we didn't bringthe red wine, they gave us some whine in return. We were forced to leave by 11,because of the ain't gonna get none, and I don't mean shrimp. Blew a tire andwas saved by the Geneva Handy Way. Thank God for light, and a quick changing ofthe tire so we could get the chicks home without anymore whine. Have fun andstay out of the way of the barge. That horn scares me. Cuzzydoo and his newcrew

03/18/01, Haulover, Freezing, 4 gallons, The worlddoesn't have enough acronyms, so I suggest DWAG for Dumb*ss With A Generator.Got out early, Strong winds and current moving west. Rained all night.Everythings peacful till some DWAG showed up. He finally wimped out due toweather, thank god, the racket was horrible. I know some folks whine about mycoleman lanterns, but at least the're quiet. Current slowed down about midnightand the shrimp started popping up. Had to leave at 3, and was still seeing emhere and there. Till next time <')))>< Riff
3/20/01, HC, 59 degrees West, 290 shrimp, Dave andI loaded up on 290 large to jumbo (mostly jumbos) at HC. From about 10pm to2am. The current was east to west and the wind was from west to east. Theweather didn't sound like a good shrimping day but we did well. Unfortunatelyor fortunately, only one other boat shared in the bounty. Ted
03/22/01, Haulover, Freezing, Half Gallon, Got onthe water about 5, Current went slack about 9. The few shrimp that were willingto grace us with their presence had to be divided up amongst 8 billion boats. Everybodyand their brother was shrimping tonight. The trout were'nt biting anything asfar as I could see. I had the same fingerling on my hook from dark till we leftat 0030. My better half used bait shrimp with no luck. At least there 'twerntno damn generators near the bridge!! Am I bitching? Naw I always sound thisway. A bad night shrimping beats the pants off a good night working!! Till nexttime <')))>< Riff

4/6, riverbreeze, 1 1/2 gal, went to riverbreeze last night thinking it would be quiet with the tournament being on sat. Boy was I wrong! Had to park in the very back of the park because there were so many boats on the water. Got lucky and found a covy whole and popped the old lady's cherry on shrimping. Have you ever had the butt end of an aluminum pole stuck in your eye socket by an excited female swinging around to show you her first shrimp? Real kodak moment! remember to tape those bugers up! other than the bad start, the night was great weather wise. Shrimp ran deep and the grass rolled in around 3 a.m. which sent me packing. barron

Nice night to be out but the idiots next to us with the noisey generator with the mom with the mouth of a marine made it rough on the wife to stand f this f that. Then when we got to the ramp there were a few flat trailer tires due to roofing nails dumped at the ramp and caused a backup and wait to trailer out. Friday the 13th was what it was. Jethro

The run was pretty much the best I have ever seen. Took a little less than an hour to limit. Any time looking in the water you could see 20 or 30 shrimp. And left then running like that. 4/27 Saturday) was just a little more work. Lowe
04/27/01 04/28/01, riverbreze, 70's NE, limit limit limit, Started shimping around dark both nights. Shimp went off on Friday for every one we netted two went by, but we had nothing to complain about. By far the most productive outing's this year. I alomost feel that the investment in all the gear was worth it. Will need a few more nights like the past few to convince my friends and family , maybe if I fill their fridge they will stop calling me the shimpless wonder. It may take a little more than a few shimp to rid myself of all the other things they call me. As always shimp on and enjoy the shimp of your labor... Cuzzydoo

7/28/01 Racy Point, SE wind, 82 degrees, 5 gallons, was out at 3pm to 430 and found the boats found some dots on the bottom finder and casted approximatley 6 dozen on the first cast. I used the fast sinking net next and caught too many to count. All were between medium to large with no smalls. After casting about 20 times I had my limit! Sunday went out again and caught 16 medium white. Either the finder was not working or I hit the mother lode area the day before. Boomer
