About Us
Gail
My family has always been important to me. I was born into a wonderful family and have been blessed with a great husband, three terrific children and four super grandchildren.
Through the years, I listened to stories, lovingly told, of times past. I always enjoyed looking at the old treasured photo of albums. The faces of my great grandparents as they posed for their wedding picture, and much later, as they stood out in their yard, arm in arm, white hair shining in the sun. The laughing faces of my mother and her sister on the days when cousins came to visit. My grandparents in their twenties and thirties. The grandfather I never knew. The simple pleasures of home, and neighborhood. The family, gathered at the homestead. I have come to know them better, after finding traces of their lives in the papers they left behind, the notes, the census records, the church records and their vital records. Times of happiness and tears.
I have been fortunate to travel back in time, to the place where some were born. There I stood on the same green ground where they stood. I walked the streets of their town, visited their church and the hallowed ground where they stood and buried their own during the great famine.
To stand by a graveside and see a name etched in ancient stone, and know that if the person who lies there had never come to these shores, I would not be here, is awe inspiring. So many pieces had to come together to allow me to stand in this silent place. I do not want their lives to be forgotten. I owe them too much.
I am honored to be able to tell their stories.
Jack
My friend and partner for the past 39 years. Jack is a great husband. We enjoy being together, especially when we are off in our camper travelling the backroads of the USA. He has worked most of his life in the construction trades, and as a mechanic. Jack also enjoys fishing and the outdoors, and playing his computer games. The treasures of his life are our three children, and he truly enjoys being "Grampy" to our four beautiful grandchildren. Jack has made many interesting discoveries searching for his "roots". He has found family in Ireland, Scotland, Nova Scotia and French Canada.
