Hi! I'm the Notgeldman from England!

As you can probably guess, I collect German notgeld from 1914-1923. My main interests lie with serienscheine, but I am also interested in wertbestaendige notgeld, P.O.W, verkehrsausgaben notgeld etc. etc. I have been collecting notgeld for some 25 years, on and off and my collection now numbers some 7500 different. There don't appear to be many notgeld collectors in Great Britain, so if you have an interest, please E-Mail me! The picture opposite shows how colourful some of the notes can be. It is a 50pf note from Papenburg.

German notgeld is much higher quality than the Austrian varieties and I feel they are more colourful. Why not join me in collecting these fairly cheap notes that were issued during and after WW1. They are not being produced anymore, so you don't have the problems that stamp collectors have; namely every month or so, a new set is brought out! The more common ones can be bought for around 50p sterling. The 8 notes depicted, show how colourful these notes can be.

There are so many notes that are both colourful and cheap. O.K. we know that the ones made of aluminium, leather, silk and linen cost a lot more to buy, but who can complain when the great majority of these notes, cost just pennies to buy. Notgeld means 'emergency money' Collectors can sub divide the notgeld arena, into topics, eg)notes with buildings, transport, golfing, chess and elves as their main illustrations. Me! I like to collect any notgeld that takes my fancy! Please use the following links The Lopischewo 5 mark note is one of only 100 ever issued!
