Comments: I read your stories. Very similar to mine, except that my reason for looking was that I had children and wanted a medical history. Also, I looked for and found my biological mother while my adoptive parents were still alive (good move! It helped anchor e in that emotional typhoon). Also, after I found birth mom, I found the foster family that had me for almost two years until I was adopted. THAT was very gratifying and rewarding. Birth mom turned out to be very self-centered, selfish and not a good p rson with whom to be acquainted. Like you, I finally broke all contact with her after a year or so. Occasionally, I wonder how she's doing and whether or not she's ever grown up (she was in her 40s when I found her in 1974). Made one very half-hearted ttempt to locate biological father without success (although I may have talked to him momentarily long distance). My youngest of three kids is a high school senior. The two older ones have bachelor's degrees (one is going on in graduate school). I have a B.A. in English, survived eight months in Vietnam in 1967-68. have been married for almost 30 years, am a hardcore nordic skier and marathon canoe racer. etc. I don't regret looking, because there was a chance that I may have healed the heart of a pers n who much regretted letting go of me (and who did so in the belief that it was best for me -- which it definitely WAS). But, like you found, it was a very painful experience emotionally, and I concur with your advice to people who might be contemplating such a search -- i.e., tread carefully and hang on to who you were BEFORE you found your biological roots. Would I look for them again? Yes, but I would protect myself MUCH more. The good results? I came to really appreciate my adoptive parents before they died. They were great! I am enormously gratified that I also was reunited with my foster parents who were wonderful people too. All in all, I'm probably better off knowing than still "floating," but the price was high. My adoptive sister, I think decided to not look for her biological links after watching me hike that mountain. Life sure is a strange trip, isn't it? Good job -- with your website and with your life. It certainly is NOT your fault that your fathers turned out to be jerks. Thank for sharing your story. PS -- I don't know if that e-mail address I gave actually works anymore. Comments: My fondest memories at Christmas time are from my mid-20s. We would spend Christmas eve all dressed up with family in my parents' home (in CA) with all my sisters and brother and their families. My mom would set the table in all her best Christmas dishes nd crystal and we would feast on marinated steak my Dad barbequed, salad, chile relleno, and wonderful red wine. Our kids would all play together afterward in their fancy clothes--the girls in their frilly dresses, tights and black shiney shoes, and the b ys in cute sweaters, nice slacks or cords and loafers. We would all catch up on each other's lives, then return to our own homes for Christmas the next morning. Those days were really fun! I'll cherish those memories forever! (Now we all live in different states.)

He was 4.8, he is 6.9 now. He lost all abilities and is working hard to regain them back. He too, recieves OT, PT, & speech. Insurance co has made us stop OT, but we are working hard to get it back.
