------The Albion Hotel
is located on 2nd & Ocean Avenues. It was built around 1940 and was hailed
as an example of modern architecture at the time. Each room had it's own
television, telephone, bath, private terrace, and individually controlled
air-conditioning. The hotel had a swimming pool, an air-conditioned coffee
shop and restaurant, banquet facilities that held 50 - 300 people, a catering
hall, and free parking at your door. The Rainbow
Room was a night club that opened in the mid-1950's and closed in the late
1960's or early 1970's.The Asbury Park Historical Society is currently trying
to save the building from being demolished. Click here
