It was my pleasure to spend a week practicing with
Tamura Sensei In Lawrence, KS on March 26-31, 1996. Tamura Sensei
is one of O'Sensei's original Uchi Deshi and was a favorite of O'Sensei
as an Otomo (one who serves) when going to temples or or other religious
destinations. Tamura Sensei has a large federation of his own dojos
with around 9,000 students, about 2,500 of which can be considered
direct students of Tamura Sensei (approx. as of 1996). He is now Ku Dan (9th
Degree black belt) in Ki Aikido and Okuden in Ki Development. Tamura
Sensei will most likely make additional trips to the US and you should
be able to find out information on his seminars through the Ki Society
USA web page.
