Wargaming is fun - you can use your imagination to make up all sorts of battles if you want. However, the most enjoyable battle is one set either in a real historical context - a scenario, real campaign or a 'counterfactual' that is, a battle which might have taken place if circumstances had been only slightly different.
Counterfactuals even have historical justification, but by counterfactual I do not mean Inca against Samurai. That sort of thing is for tournament players, some of whom by their power play seem to believe that winning with the 'best' army is more important than the history on which their armies are based. Each to his own, but it is not for me.
