The Army of Hesse-Kassel at Lutzen 1632

A recent article by J.R. Harvey (Miniature Wargames 205, June 2000) has an extensive discussion of the order of battles of the Swedes and Imperialists at Lutzen (16 November 1632). It is not my intention to reproduce this here (go and buy the magazine) but to extract the Hessian regiments and strengths which were present. These are:

Cavalry

On the right wing under William of Saxe-Weimar
Frans Elgae von Dalwigk, 5 companies, 50 men.
Kurt von Dalwigk, 5 companies, 100 men.
TA von Uslar, 5 companies, 50 men.
Landgrave William, 5 companies, 180 men.
G. von Uslar, 8 companies, 160 men.
Mr Harvey does not actually classify the last two as Hessian, but I suppose they must be, unless the Landgrave's regiment is, in fact Saxon.

Infantry

In Thurn's brigade, in the center second line
Willam of Hesse-Kassel, 12 companies, 502 men.
Also mentioned is Bernard of Saxe-Weimar's regiment in the Green brigade on the left center of the first line, at 12 companies,748 men.

As Mr Harvey refers to quite a number of non-English sources, I reckon the above must be as close as you can get to reasonably accurate...
